Free Admission on Saturdays for Colorado Residents! 3/27/2006

Need somewhere to go on a Saturday? Drive downtown to the Denver Art Museum because it's free to Colorado residents every Saturday! Regular admission runs from $6 - $8 depending on your age (children under 12 get in free). My family visited this art museum a few Saturdays ago, and it was a fun trip going downtown and seeing artwork. This museum has 7 floors (I think that's right), and each floor has a different art theme or era. For instance, American art, African art, Eastern art, etc. I was surprised to see statues there, as well as paintings, small and large. The only thing I was disappointed with was that this museum didn't have much modern art - most was old and classic. If you bring your children with you to the art museum, you can take them to the basement for some art projects/activities! The ones it had when we went were drawing with chalk on chair chalk boards, making a spinning top, and dressing up in costumes and hats - just to name a few. My 1 1/2-year-old daughter had fun doing these things! And so did we, but don't tell anyone! So, Colorado residents, next time you have an available Saturday, grab your family and head to the Denver Art Museum for some free education and entertainment! more

A relaxing way to spent an afternoon 2/16/2006

The Denver Art Museum is a great adult escape--even if you are not an art expert (I certainly am not!). Nonetheless, it is a great place to go and get inspired. Denver has evolved to out-live its reputation as a cow-town, thank heavens and it's due largely in part to quality cultural events and offerings like the Denver Art Museum. I recently went there after not having been for several years and I was very impressed. Our museum rivals those of Boston and Chicago. Wander around aimlessly or get involved in a more formal tour for the real ins and outs of the artwork. It's fascinating. I guarantee you'll come out restored! more

Feeling Artsy 2/1/2006

This is such a great place for kids! They have puzzles and games for them to play, along with costumes for them to try on. The weekends are the best with their back packs that will guide you and your family through all sorts of adventures! If you don't have kids, it is still a very nice place to go, as they have beautiful exhibitions! Colorado residents get in free on Saturdays! You can't beat that! more

Art 6/22/2005

This is a good place to learn about some art. It's large, with seven floors of things. However, most everything is based around ancient and cultural artifacts. The moving shows that are brought in are sometimes worth going to, but also usually older pieces of art. more
