Dana's Housekeeping did the best job of cleaning our house- even the kids noticed when they came home with a big WOW! The house looked so nice and i have not had a housekeeper who worked so hard in the past 10 years. She even cleaned behind the toilet- noone does that! They are coming again next week. more

Dana's Housekeeping 5/14/2007

I have had really good luck with Dana's referral system. But I have recommended them to other's at Judy's book who have not had such good luck. Like most service work - it is all about the individual. If you want to give them a try, just call and they will send somebody. Then they call you to see if you want to continue with that person. If most people say no, that person is no longer employed by Dana's. So the bad ones get weeded out, but you might be be referred to a new, untested person. I have certainly never seen, or heard of, a Dana's person who was dishonest or problematic in any serious way - just some who are not so fantastic at cleaning house. It might help to mention my name. Good luck. more

Dana's (Lack of) Houskeeping 7/22/2006

My wife used Dana's to hire someone to clean our two story home when our last housekeeper was a no show. Dana's so called referral service sent two women over who slowly cleaned our home for a prepayment price of $87. While the price was low so was the level of cleaning. I have never heard of prepaying for housecleaning and advise against it. The women slowly moved through the home cleaning the absolute minimum that they could get away with from what my wife tells me. Counters were wiped down not scrubbed leaving some residue or stains from coffee or other food and beverages, dust and hair from my 3 cats while less abundant was still visible in corners of the room and cobwebs in the ceiling corners were missed completely. Little did my wife and I know that the $87 was for a pre determined amount of time which was not disclosed to us nor the amount of time we were allotted. When the time was up they simply told us and prepared to leave thereby leaving the entire upstairs of our relatively easy to clean home unfinished! Reluctantly we paid an additional amount to get the house fully cleaned though not thoroughly cleaned. (smells of bait and switch) If you clean your home and it requires a light dusting then Dana's MIGHT be suitable if you do not have the time and do not care how thoroughly your house gets cleaned. Otherwise if you want a regular cleaning that involves more than just wiping down a few counters and vacuuming, do yourself a favor and find another service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DANA'S TO ANYONE! more

Dana's Housekeeping 4/20/2006

Dana's is a referral service for house cleaners (actually, these folks with do anything reasonable, like help you unpack, wait for the cable guy, or do laundry and/or ironing). They are pretty inexpensive - about $75 or $80 for four hours. (The price depends on how often they come.) A friend of mine told me that she had tried all the major services and some independent cleaners. She said that Dana's had both the best prices and best service of all the places she had tried. So I called them. The way they work is that they send somebody to your house. You either meet the person or leave a note listing your priorities. Then the person from Dana's calls to see whether you want that person to return. Although people certainly vary, most of their cleaners are very good. The ones who are not so great do not last long. I have only had one sub-par cleaner. She was fine. I just felt like she could have done more. They have sent me five or ten cleaners and all the others were good. The other advantage is that, if your cleaner moves on to a different career, Dana's will find you a replacement instantly. Also, you can always call and cancel or add a service. If I hired someone directly, I would not feel as free to play around with the schedule. The person who cleans our house now is great, but she is fully booked. I have never used any other cleaning service, but I have been very happy with Dana's. If you do call them, I would appreciate if you would tell them that Corinne D. recommended them. more

Awful 3/3/2006

We used their service and they charged us $82 bucks. I think I honestly could have done a better job in 15 minutes, a once over vacuum and sink wipedown. Horrible. It is SO dang hard to find a decent cleaning service, why is this? more

They will clean, unpack, meet the cable guy.... 6/15/2005

Dana's refers people to clean your house - or do anything else within reason. If you are stuck and need someone to meet the cable guy, or you need help unpacking after a move, or whatever - you can call Dana's. You can hire someone for a one-time service or set up a regular housecleaning service. Because it is a referal service, it may possibly attract people who are not planning to do this forever, but at least when someone leaves, Dana's calls and has a new person all picked out, which takes away all the hassle. It also means you can schedule a regular service (weekly, monthly), and then make any changes you want when you are traveling, having a party - whatever. Dana's will find that person a filler job so that his/her income is not harmed by your schedule. They charge for four or eight hours of work (8-noon or 1 - 5) and ask that you leave a list of priorities. You can be home or not. Most people are not home when the person comes. We have used three different people through Dana's and all three have been great. I was told by a friend that they are the cheapest in the business. I don't know whether that is true. They charge about $75 for four hours, depending on where you live and how often you use their services. more
