Cute 50's Diner 1/19/2007

The Corvette Diner is a world famous legendary restaurant! This is where my husband and I went on our first date. We are a rockabilly couple, so we definatley enjoyed the decor, the waitresses' attitude and the loud music. Every seat in the place gives you a great view of the whole restaurant. Service is a little bitchy on purpose, and they all have fake 50's names. They shower you with soda straws the minute you take your seats and shower you with Bazooka bubblegum as you're leaving your table. On weekends, the waitresses wear huuuuge wigs and there is a live DJ that you can request old rock n roll songs to. Sometimes the waitresses and busboys even have to organize a dance routine in the middle of the floor to entertain you! The wait can be pretty long on Friday, Sat and Sunday nights, and they won't seat you until your whole party is present, so make sure you come early. The menu items have cute, kitschy names, but I'm not impressed with the taste of the food. (Ruby's Diner has much better food.) The Elvis shake is my personal favorite (marshmallows, peanut butter and bananas). Parking is a little tough, but they do have a small valet lot right next to the place. I like to bring people to corvette who have never been, but then I regret it once we pay $10 for a not-so-awesome hamburger. At least the shakes make up for it! more

Sassy Servers and Great Shakes 3/28/2006

This place is always a bit on the crazy side with kids celebrating birthdays and familys out for a fun evening. As kitchy and silly as it is, it's still the spot for a darn good milkshake. The meatloaf is good. It can be a bit loud inside, definately not the place to go if you are hoping for a quiet date. Parking can be a bit tough. After a meal here, stroll around Hillcrest for some window shopping. more

Fun 50's Diner 10/25/2005

This is a fun fifties diner located in Hillcrest. The food is great and very inexpensive, and the waiters are usually entertaining. I'll warn you- they give you a nice surprise when you first sit down at your table! They also have huge milkshakes that are delicious, but it would be best to share with a friend! If it's someone's birthday, they are incredibly generous with the desert they give you for free- a good amount for 5 or 6 people. more

The minute you step into this place, and see the decor, you'll know what a fun place it is sure to be. The waitresses make it sucha casual environment and are so funny, yet still really nice. The food is just like any other diner, and it's priced just like any other diner, so you know exactly what you are getting yourself into. The experience really lies in the environement, it's a fun place to just eat and enjoy yourself. more

Lookin for a 50's Shake?! 8/18/2005

This place is great! Love their milkshakes, especially the mint-oreo! YUM! Also, enjoy the servers, they are always cheerful, and very personable. Excellent place to go, especially if you like bazooka bubblegum! You'll get your fair share with the bill. pretty reasonably priced for a sit-down diner as well, I always go for lunch time, I'm sure it gets busy at night. Also you'll want to give their photo-booth a try! more

Fun atmosphere 8/18/2005

The Corvette Diner, located in Hillcrest, has an incredibly fun atmosphere. The diner is decorated with 50's memorabilia and is complete with a corvette. The staff is extremely friendly and play along with the 50's vibe. I've had the chicken sandwich and a milk, and both were delicious. If you are in the area and up for some fun, I definitely recommend checking out the Corvette Diner. more
