My family tried to come here for a birthday dinner and were completely ignored. When we walked in, we were told there was another large party waiting to be sat and that whichever party was complete first would get the large table while the other would have to wait 45 minutes or so. About 5 minutes before our final party member showed up, one of the ladies said they were all there. While they were prepping the table, 4 more members of their party arrived. We brought this to the hostesses attention and were told that they would be sat first because they said they were complete first. Not wanting to wait, we left for another restaurant and members of their party were still walking in as we drove away. If you are going to have it, actually enforce it. more

This is a nice place to eat but don't expect anything spectacular here. The Gumbo is rather exceptional but the catfish is rather mediocre. I feel is it a little overpriced for the food quality but I still go there because of the great service. It is a comfortable atmosphere and portion size is good. I went to this place for the first time the other night, craving some fried catfish. When the hostess brought me to my seat, my chair looked like it still had food on it from 1986. I ordered a fish and shrimp combo which was carefully arranged on top of a institutionalized-looking plate. The shrimp was pretty good but, the fries were very soggy and the fish tasted dirty and of low quality. Dirty seemed to be the theme of this restaurant and while surveying the decor around us I noticed about three inches of dust layering most of it. Our waiter was very nice and helpful and it was evident that the service was the only saving grace at this place. I don't think i will go back, there are plenty of other fried catfish places around town. more

AH THE CATFISH CO. THIS PLACE IS ON POINT WITH SERVICE AND THE FOOD IS ABSOLUTLEY FABULOUS, THE GUMBO IS HEARTY AND FULL OF FLAVOR AND PLUMP CRAWFISH. THE FRIED CATFISH AND SHRIMP JUST MELT IN YOUR MOUTH WITH EVERY BITE, THE ATMOSPHERE IS PLEASENT AND PEACEFUL, I DO RECCOMEND THIS PLACE FOR A GREAT MEAL REASONABLE IN PRICE AND GREAT CLIENT SERVICE. The service and food was great! Once our server found out it was our first time, he was full of helpful suggestions. Our entrees were served quickly, even though a party of 12 was seated next to us. We were stuffed at the end of our meal, but we couldn't resist dessert so we took some fried cheesecake to -go. It was the best fried cheesecake I've ever had! This place had some good food. Catfish was awesome. Fried green maters were probably the best I've ever eaten. It's greasy so can't eat there often but man is it good. Prices were right. Pros: Friendly Service and Great food Cons: nothing so far more

\r The clam chowder was hot, hearty and flavorful (even our toddler loved it), yummy kids grilled cheese on giant buttered texas toast, the actual fry on all the seafood was tasty, fresh cole slaw made with pineapple juice, the waiter and staff very friendly and warm...unfortunately I think they were a little slammed because our fried oysters, catfish, shrimp and hush puppies seemed as if they had been sitting under the heat lamp too long. We felt WELCOME the moment we walked through the door! The staff there is friendlier and more efficient than most restaurants we have visited. The hostess was all smiles as she led us to our table, very pleasant. Our server was at our table almost immediately. He was EXCELLENT. You could tell he actually enjoyed his job and believed in the quality of the food. He gave us some recommendations but also said we couldn't go wrong with ANYTHING on the menu. The catfish and shrimp were the BEST I EVER HAD. My girlfriend had the cheeseburger (she's very picky about her cheeseburgers) and RAVED about it. I wanted a bite but she wouldn't let me have any! We split a slice of chocolate pie and peach cobbler with ice cream. They were DIVINE, so glad we got both because I don't think I could choose between the two! The decor is very creative, whoever did it knew how to make the place feel inviting. We really enjoyed our cozy booth and the upbeat atmosphere. I can't believe Cherry Creek has been RIGHT UNDER MY NOSE THIS WHOLE TIME! Now we will be eating there regularly instead of the hum-drum places we normally frequent. GREAT SERVICE, GREAT FOOD!! I can definitely see myself coming here often if I lived in Austin. The fried catfish is very, very good. The breading is flavorful and crisp. The fish itself was plump and fresh tasting. The beans were some of the best I've ever had. Yes, I said BEANS. Gumbo was good but could have been a little better, just a little. Here's what made me give 4 stars instead of 5. Iced tea was watered down, hardly any tea taste at all. Could have just been a bad batch. Coleslaw was not very good. Kind of bland so not better than any fast food place. Other than that I enjoyed the experience. One more note, If you're just dining for 2 then get a half order of fried green tomatoes. Was plenty for 2 people. I was pleasantly surprised to see seasoned fries instead of the regular stuff. Pros: Crunchy catfish, awesome beans, friendly staff, relatively cheap. Cons: Some but pretty minor. more

Great Restaurant!! We live in N. Austin and my in laws in S. Austin. They always say there are no quiet friendly down to earth restaurants in S. Austin for senior citizens. Well we took them here about 3 months ago and now they go atleast once a week. The food is always fresh and appealing! The service is always quick, friendly, and good quality! My husband has been eating here for years at lunch. Him and his lunch buddies go frequently. Again even at busy lunch time you could not ask for better food and quick service :) more

Cherry Creek is definately one of my favorite places to eat in Austin. The food is incredible and the prices are great. The oysters are heavenly and they have some of the best shrimp I have ever eaten. The catfish is very good, dosent have that nasty fishy taste at all and their gumbo is very chunky and flavorful! The way the place is decorated is soo cute, I always feel very comftorable there. I've always gotten great service there too! Pros: Everything! Cons: Not a single thing more

We had my father's memorial service in their party room. Their service and hospitality was wonderful. My father loved catfish and I thought it was fitting with the fishing theme. The food was great and when I visit the Austin area again I definitely plan to return. Pros: food, service more

After hearing great things we tried it last night. Fried green tomatoes were really good. Gumbo was very good. Fried seafood was not so good. Oysters not cook and mushy. I think the catfish is pre-breaded out of the freezer. Not what we expected. I tink we will stick with Pacific Star at Anderson Mill & 183. We've been eatting at Cherry Creek Catfish for about 6 years, sometimes twice a week. My husband who swears up and down that he will not eat fish of any sort now orders their catfish everytime we go in. It's THAT good. Their service has always been outstanding. The hushpuppies are always fresh, the fried green tomatoes are awesome. If you're not in the mood for fish, their hamburgers are outstanding. Just like home (big real ground beef pattie, toasted bread, big chunk of fresh onion) so juicy they'll drip down your elbow. If you have room, you've got to try the blackberry cobbler (served warm) and vanilla ice cream.... OMG!!!!!! Everything rocks at Cherry Creek! more

I was lucky to come here when their oysters were nice and LARGE! I haven't had oysters that big in YEARS, and I mean YEARS! I know that there are differant times of the year when they are better than most, so keep that in mind when you go..... but MAN ALIVE these were AWESOME!! I can't say enough about this place. The people were great and so was the food. The catfish was delicious, the oysters were devine and the shrimp (though it could have been crispier to me) was still excellant!!
