Cheese Board Pizza is the best 7/13/2006

I seldom pass up a chance to try it. It's always different, thin, sourdough crust. The toppings are indescribable. If you like different pizza without all the tomato sauce, try them. They do a wonderful job. They also have an old piano and sometimes other musicians as well. Fun place ... only wish it were a bit larger. Try it if you haven't yet. more

Plywood Board Pizza 6/3/2006

Yes, the Cheese Board rocks. Especially for cheese and bread. But their pizza? I know it's supposed to be different, no sauce and all, but when they were so gracious to cater a gig I was playing, they dropped a whole bunch of those vaunted pizzas on us and even though we were ravenously hungry and everyone had been drooling over the knowledge that these pizzas were on the way, hardly anyone even got past the first piece. That's because our jaws were barely strong enough to chew the tenacious crust. The cheese blend on the top tasted sooo delicious, but you couldn't enjoy it or make a meal out of it. It was a frustrating experience to say the least. Should I give the place another chance? Everyone says they love it, but there's no excuse for serving up something near inedible. Fancy Pizza 10/7/2005

The Cheese Board is a local favorite in the Berkeley community. You will find people sitting on the grass in the center divider outside the restaurant enjoying slices of goat cheese & pine nut pizza. Their toppings change every week and always come in delectable combinations. They use the freshest ingredients and you're guaranteed something good with each visit. Prices are reasonable for a whole pie - around $18. I sometimes find the pizzas to be a bit salty but for the most part quite good. If you love pizza you gotta check it out - just don't come on a Sunday or Monday as they are closed. more

Delicious Thin-Crust Pizza 9/11/2005

Don't let the long line outside scare you away. They only make one type of pizza daily (vegetarian only), so they're able to fill orders quite rapidly. Thankfully, every time I've gone, the one type of pizza has been delicious. Super-fresh vegetables, tasty cheese and delectable olive oil make this pizza a stand-out. The crust is crispy and delicious, too. They also give you a little extra bit every time. For the full experience, take your slices outside and picnic in the median across from the shop. It's a great warm-weather experience, and you probably won't be the only one enjoying your meal there. more

Cheese Board is a locally owned and operated pizzeria that you have to eat to believe how good it is. It's quite expensive because all ingredients used are fresh- nothing frozen. This place is 100% vegetarian, and everyday there is a different pizza. By the way, there is only one pizza you can order. The pizza taste is FANTASTIC!! There is a thin crust with a moderate amount of cheese, then there are usually tons of vegetable and herbs like onion, tomatoes, garbanzo beans, and oregano. This place is always packed with the line going down the street, so get here EARLY before lunch. It's pretty expensive; a whole pizza is almost 20 dollars, and one slice is around 2 dollars. But one thing is for sure- it's worth it. more

cheeseboard is awesome! they serve only one type of pizza each day, and it always is vegetarian. the pizza is on great sourdough bread, and the ingredients are always fresh. I've gone there many times, and have always loved it. every time i take someone to try it, they love it too, even if they aren't big vegetarian fans. cheeseboard also has a lot of great cheeses and fresh breads available. the cheese staff seems very knowledgeable and they let you try samples of the cheese before you buy. more

Who doesn't love pizza? Cheeseboard Pizza is cheap and good! You can just buy a slice and walk around berekeley. Berkeley is a great place to see and even meet people. Isn't it great to just relax on the grass and eat a slice of pizza? Not to mention all the other places around Cheesboard Pizza. more

Cheeseboard Pizza has gourmet pizza at amazingly low prices. There is always a line out the door full of hungry people waiting for a slice of fresh out of the oven pizza. Their daily specials change so you'll always get something different depending on what day you show up. A perfect day in Berkeley includes a slice of Cheeseboard pizza, a bottle of Orangina, and enjoying the the sun while sitting on the grass in front the store. Don't forget to make a stop next door to the Cheeseboard store for an awesome selection of cheese and a great variety of freshly baked breads and treats. more

Best Gourmet Pizza 8/17/2005

Cheeseboard is one of those places that locals love to visit. The line is always out the door, but it goes quickly and with the great live music, you won't mind waiting at all. Because the restaurant only offers a single type of pizza each day, once you order you'll get your food within seconds. You'll even receive an extra half slice free with each order. The pizzas are always vegetarian and can include such unique toppings as corn or potato slices (my personal favorite). With food in hand, grab one of the limited seats inside the restaurant or head outside and plunk yourself down on the grass at the street divider/island. Unique food and atmosphere make the Cheeseboard a Berkeley favorite. more

The Cheeseboard offers the best gourmet pizza in the Bay Area. Every day they have a different concoction that is an absolute delight for the taste buds. Order a pizza and dine-in on one of their quaint little tables or take it to go and enjoy it at home. Also try out the bread at their bakery. Delicioso! more

Everything she says is true. The pizza is fabulous. If you are in Emeryville, you can go to Arizmendi, and it is owned by the same co-op, and the pizza there is just as good! The time I was there the line was out the door, so if you are in a hurry, it might not be the right place, but the line was well entertained by a lovely old woman playing piano in the small dining room for fun. It made it a nice wait, plus the pizza smelled really good, and of course was. more

They have one type of pizza per day, and you can get on the line that inevitably forms to get your yummy slice. It's always vegetarian but has fun ingredients - like roasted peppers, different cheeses (capitalizing on its parent next door!), citrus zest, nuts, YUM! Similar to Arizmendi (which are also bakeries) in Oakland and SF. more
