I have followed the manager, Gary Schaller, of this location over the years and to different shops because he is an ASE Certified mechanic, excellent diagnostician, and extremely honest. Imagine that... a mechanic who won't rip you off! I have referred numerous friends - some of whom don't even live in the east bay and they swear by him. If you're looking for a mechanic that can diagnose the issue quickly, give you an accurate cost estimate, do the job right the first time, and make you glad you came to them, then this is the shop for you!

My air conditioner broke. I carpool to Palo Alto from the East Bay, so this was unacceptable. Art spoke to me on the phone for quite some time, walking me through the details of various levels of broken-ness. I much appreciated this. His staff was very friendly, and they appear to be very ethical. Oh, and they fixed my car well. I highly recommend these folks.

I would like to thank your team who worked on my order for a pre-owned vehicle. I received my Civic early on Friday and am extremely pleased with the service you gave me. I have to admit I was a little worried about purchasing a pre-owned car over the internet but your helpful service took away those fears and I managed to get all the specifications/details I asked for. Mike's Bike is a nice bike store that has a wide selection of mountain bikes, road bikes, cruisers etc. They carry top of the line bikes so prices are high but competitive compared to other bike stores. We have had both good and bad experiences with the staff- sometimes they are friendly, other times they have been somewhat rude. However, I will say that the entire staff is knowledgeable about bikes. They also carry helmets, accessories, clothing etc.

Auto Alpina is a small repair shop that works on both European and Japanese cars (maybe others too). The owner, Norik, is a budget-conscious and honest person who has actually discouraged me from certain repairs in the past (turning down incremental fees). The hourly rate is roughly $80, which is quite a bit less than dealers or other shops I've worked with. The shop opens late, making it hard to drop off your car before work, but extended hours in the evening have worked really well for me.

i went to their volvo parts store and got a replacement headlight for one that was stolen from my car. even though it was technically just a store (but it is connected to their service store as well), the people were nice and looked at my car and described to me how they believed my headlight was stolen and (since it was really easy to do) installed my new headlight for free (took all of ten seconds). but still, it was nice of them. also a plus, college students get 10% off parts, (but not service).
