Cafe Raj is always hopping, especially on weekend nights. We usually do take-out, but when we go to pick up our food, the place is usually packed full of casual diners (families seem welcome). The food is really good -- good enough for us to make this our regular Indian food place. They use all white meat chicken (what we usually get) and their sauces seem less greasy and more healthy than other places. Very occasionally, the white meat chicken is a bit dry. Cheese naan is delicious.

Beauregard's is a very cozy place with excellent food. We've had wonderful salads, very tasty chicken and broccoli with pasta, and their pizza -- made in a brick oven -- is delicious, too.

Sophia is a very small, casual place with just a half-dozen tables or so. The food is Middle Eastern/Greek. I've really enjoyed the falafel and hummus at Sophia, and my husband is quite keen on the moussaka. I think it's a little pricey for such a casual place, but we have enjoyed every meal we've had there. We had takeaway once, too, and found that very nice, as well.

Dr. Hank helped me through 9 mos of pregnancy before I delivered my baby, and it was always great to be in his care. He always answered my questions thoughtfully, without dismissing any worries, but always managed to reassure me, as well. I ended up delivering on the weekend so he didn't see me through labor and delivery, but he was great through the rest of the process.

Don't let the long line outside scare you away. They only make one type of pizza daily (vegetarian only), so they're able to fill orders quite rapidly. Thankfully, every time I've gone, the one type of pizza has been delicious. Super-fresh vegetables, tasty cheese and delectable olive oil make this pizza a stand-out. The crust is crispy and delicious, too. They also give you a little extra bit every time.
For the full experience, take your slices outside and picnic in the median across from the shop. It's a great warm-weather experience, and you probably won't be the only one enjoying your meal there.

If you're looking for Southern-Style cooking in a very friendly atmosphere, look no further than Jodie's. It's a small place across from the BART tracks in Albany. And when I say small, I mean there's seating for maybe 6 people (excluding outdoor tables). It's one of those places where everyone knows your name. The food is really great and there are plenty of choices (from the menu on the wall). It's a tad on the expensive side for a hole-in-the-wall-style joint, but it's worth it for both the food and the atmosphere.

We've only had the "Good Health" pizza (Baked chicken breast and fresh spinach with part skim mozzarella on a whole wheat crust.) but it's been good enough to keep us coming back for more. The whole wheat crust is amazing. The ingredients are obviously super fresh -- the tomatoes, especially, are outstanding. Ever since I moved away from my beloved Star Pizza in Houston, TX, I've dreamed of a transcendent pizza experience. At Zachary's, I've finally found it. Mmm... (Web site at http://www..zacharys.com)

Diane took great care of my cat, Nigel, when we were out of town over Christmas. She showed great professionalism and inspired trust. Before she took the assignment, she asked lots of great questions -- things I might not have thought of, but which showed her depth of experience. Great service!
