Best

I love going to Caruh! I've been getting my hair cut and colored by Lindsey for the past 2+ years. Before her, I never had a stylist last more than 3 appointments. I've never...

Worst

Well I used to love going to Juliet and Yaycha for my services well I have called on 2 different occasions to schedule an appointment for a cut and wax and have been told they are...

Nice Facial 4/5/2007

I've had several services here, facial, massage, haircut and color/highlights. So far so good. I've had friendly service there each time. The facial was excellent and very relaxing. More than you'd expect. more

hack, hack 10/28/2006

One good haircut and one not so good haircut. I'm not sure if my stylist was just having a bad day or it indicates a larger problem with the salon. Even my reluctant husband had to admit it looked longer on the left side then on the right. more

excellent massage 3/2/2006

I have gotten my haircut here for awhile but my stylist left and I am not as happy with my new one. However, I had a fabulous massage with Rebecca. She set a wonderful, relaxing mood and was so skillful in finding my knots and aches. She used hot stones that were incredibly soothing. I was quite pregnant at the time and she seemed to maneuver my body very easily. A great experience. The salon itself has a nice atmosphere as well. more

Great Salon! 8/30/2005

I have been getting my hair cut at Caruh for years. I started going there because it was so close to home, but even now that we have moved out of the neighborhood, I keep going back. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I love the fact that they are an Aveda salon - love their products. On the downside, apparently everyone else loves Caruh as much as I do. Everyone there books up very quickly. I make an appointment for a haircut months in advance and color is even worse. Also, they recently raised their prices, making a haircut about $45-50. However, it is worth the wait and the cost! more

Good haircut, but nothing special 8/20/2005

Caruh is your typical mid to high end spa. You walk away feeling good about your new haircut, but after a few days you forget about it. If you are searching for a stylist Caruh is worth a shot, maybe you will get something really memorable as I know people who have. They also use organic products upon request. more

Cut, Color, and Relax in one spot 8/16/2005

Caruh Salon is a great find in the Roosevelt neighborhood. As an Aveda salon, your hair cut and/or color come with a relaxing scalp/neck/shoulder massage. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable with their products. They do not do manicures or pedicures but offer other hand and foot treatments. Parking is available under the building through the alley. more

Pampering and beauty! 8/16/2005

All the stylists, colorists and technicians are Caruh are really great. I've been to a number of stylists and colorists and they have all been really good, very willing to listen to what I wanted but also ready w/ suggestions to improve upon my hair! I also get my eyebrows and facials done there, and that is very good as well. It is a little pricey and sometimes you get a "hard sell" to buy products, but other than that, it's a spectacular place to get all your beauty needs. more

Customer Service isn't their specialty 6/10/2005

So-so wax jobs, a so-so cut and a hideous Mother's Day massage cancellation put this Aveda concept spa at the bottom of this spa-goer's list. Cancel an appointment with less than 24 hours notice and you'll pay a $40 fee. They cancel on you with less than 4 hours' notice gets you little more than an unenthusiastic sorry. Don't waste your time or more importantly your money on this place. (6/05 update) I've been banned!! I found out from an inside source that I've allegedly been banned in retaliation for this post from the very place I have so negatively endorsed. The owner, by the way, never once contacted me regarding the cancellation incident. Viva la customer service! more

Editorial
  • The Scene
At first glance, you'll see a typical Aveda shop--it smells great, staff is smiling, products abound and everyone looks terrific. Hair and nail appointments occur in a sunny salon, while those awaiting spa treatments are guided, herbal tea in hand, to a serene, dark, private waiting area. Private service rooms are calm and sophisticated, with terra-cotta walls, soft lighting, tile floors and large mirrors.

    The Services
Aromatherapy is an important part of the experience--you'll be asked to choose your favorite scents as additives to massage oils and steam baths, while other products incorporate whatever sweet-smelling plant is deemed appropriate. The signature facial includes an extensive gentle massage that leaves skin absolutely glowing. Waxing is followed with thorough exfoliation for long-lasting results, and every haircut starts off with a glorious scalp massage that both stimulates and relaxes.

    The Details
Massage, wet treatments, facials, hair removal, sunless tanning. Manicure/pedicure, full service salon.
