I love this Park 3/30/2006

Carkeek is one of my favorite parks in Seattle. You are literally only a few blocks from Northgate Mall, and yet you can wader the extensive trail system and forget that you are in the city at all! There are places to play and picnic, and the beach is wonderful…not crowed, with great views and that romantic train trestle. In the summer, the volunteer naturalists will tell you all about the beach critters! more

Some great views of the Olympics and some very nice trails to walk when you don't have time to get out of the city. more

Hidden Park in North Seattle 8/20/2005

I am biased towards Carkeek because it is close to my house, but also because it's one of the few where you can see salmon in the late fall if it's a good season. There have been large efforts made to restore the park so that the salmon return. Every year is different, so don't be disappointed if you go one year and they're sparse. 2004 was pretty thin, but 2003 was a good year. It's amazing to see these fish come back to a city park. Kids will love it as much as adults. more
