Beware the Hidden Fees & Unethical business practices. 5/8/2012

Beware the shady business practices of Campus Management. I paid my rent the first week of the month for the past 10 months. Never a word from them. I just found out today that they have apparently been secretly assessing late fees of $40 per month to my account, WITHOUT EVER NOTIFYING ME!!! They now say I owe them hundreds of dollars in late fees. This practice is of questionable legality, and extremely shady and deceptive. If you are being charged a penalty fee, you should be notified immediately. Not with Campus Management. They said nothing and quietly continued to tally late fees and only notified me as the end of my lease approached. I should also note that the woman who works at the front desk in their office is completely unprofessional. She clearly hates her job, and will greet you with a scowl and a sigh when you politely ask for assistance. Avoid dealing with Campus Management, they will pretend that everything is fine and then look for any reason to charge you penalties and fees, and will not even notify you. Then as you near the end of your lease you will wake up to an email stating that you owe them hundreds in fees and penalties, which they never bothered to tell you about as they arose. Avoid them and their bad faith business practices. I have no idea how they are still in business. more

At your own risk. 12/5/2010

If you have the option to rent from someone else, do it. Before moving in, they charge you $140 to clean the apartment, no matter the size. My apartment had only one bedroom, I could have gotten a cleaning service to do a much better job for a third of the price.\r When you need to talk to someone in the office, you have to go through the receptionist. She does not want to be there, she does not want to help you, she just wants to sit at her desk and slug around.\r The apartments are old, they leak, they make noise, but maintenance is fast and that group of workers are very friendly. Which is good, because you are likely to see them often. more

Okay service , ok place to stay 2/13/2006

I rented from them for 2 years or so, they'r not bad, just like every other management in town ,they have just "ok" service. HOwever, i disagree with the other reviewer because i think they do fill out maintanece request pretty quickly. Usually within the same day depending on the urgency of it. I would say that the house is old and it's pretty run down. (and mind i say the place is not cheap either.) So, they should have better maintained the place rather then having the tennants to call them in to fix this and that all the time. Though at the end, they did eat your deposit , saying that the light bulb has been burnt out, the shower bar has been broken (and it has been broken since i moved in). Some how I do not have energy to argue with them, so i'll just let it go. more

CMI Business Practices 11/15/2005

5 friends and I leased a house from CMI. 1) The house is super old but I suppose that's the norm in Ann Arbor. 2) Maintenance calls are somewhat slow although they do respond after a while. They follow the general idea of "if it isn't completely broken, we're not going to fix it." 3) There was a verbal agreement made at lease-signing that was NOT upheld on their part. This was an extremely sore subject between us - therefore I offer this: IF YOU WANT SOMETHING, MAKE SURE IT'S WRITTEN DOWN - VERBAL AGREEMENTS MEAN JACK TO THESE PEOPLE. PROS: A place to live CONS: Verbal Agreements mean nothing to these people more

Nice Apartments - Reasonably Priced 9/3/2005

Campus Management Inc., has a great selection of apartments all over campus at affordable price ranges. The apartments are nice in size and many are great locations. The owner of Campus Management is very friendly and nice, and is great to work with. They ensure that their tenants are happy, and fill maintenance requests quickly. It's definitely a nice change of pace from many of the other leasing agents on campus. more
