Best Margaritas 2/24/2009

Wonderful service; great food; reasonable priced. We keep coming back to Jose's not just because of the food, but the wonderful hospitality! Thanks! (margaritas and happy hour are great!)\r \r Additionally, my little one gets a balloon as we leave!! I recommend this restaurant! Pros: Chips and Salsa w/the meal; wonderful saturday and sunday brunch Cons: changed the menu a bit :0( more

never again 8/29/2008

My husband and I went here hoping it would live up to the reviews--it did not! My biggest disappointment was the lack of queso, melted cheese sauce to have with chips. They looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about it and then brought out something that tasted exactly like smoke and trash. It was SO nasty. Main dishes were mediocre at best. Service was worse. We will never go back. more

REALLY REALLY BAD FOOD 1/29/2008

I love Mexican food, but my husband and I literally took one bite of our meal, asked for the check, and left. I had the shrimp del mar burrito and he had the chile relleno. We were both appalled that the place was packed and reviewed so highly. I'd never go back here, nor would I let any of my friends. more

Great Happy-hour, downstairs dining has people you love (Some have been there for over 15 years! 9/4/2007

The restaurant is an experience! The decor is unique, you will see something new everytime! As for the staff, some of them have been there for a while, and they know their stuff! I suggest the Cream Cheese and Chicken Enchiladas..... not sour cream, mind you! Another favorite... the Papajita burrito ( it is steak fajita meat, mashed potatoes....and more! It is amazing. The portions are HUGE! Have you seen the Garbage Burrito? Get there early for Happy Hour (free food), or eat downstairs. The Bummer is that they have no Happy Hour in the dining room! However, the Cantina is large, just get there early! Pros: Quick service normally, and a wonderful staff! Cons: Parking on Friday or Saturday and a wait list more

Disappointing 4/13/2007

The guacomole was very bland and our 2 dishes were not very good. I had a combo plate with a cheese enchilada, taco & relleno. My date had the combo with bean burrito, tamale & taco. Both were medicore at best. Service was only ok, they seemed to forget about us for about 30 minutes, and we needed drink refills. Salsa was decent, but I've had better. Overall disappointing. more

sorry excuse for a mexican restaurant. I heard their happy hour late night menu used to be steal, but not even worth it to try in my opinion more

Pina Coladas!! 6/20/2006

This place has the best pina coladas to compliment the delicious cream cheese chicken enchiladas found only at Jose's. I have a hard time eating at other mexican restuarants because nobody had these enchiladas. The chips and salsa are awesome, but I can't wait for the smoking ban to take affect I always smell like cigarette smoke from the bar upstairs drifting down into the restaurant. more

Tasty Mexican 12/28/2005

This is a great mexican restaurant that's easily accessible from 6th Ave and Union Blvd (it's Simms on the north side of 6th Ave). Good food and atmosphere. Parking lot gets filled up quick and very busy at happy hour. There's an outdoor patio upstairs by the bar. There's a trick to ordering vegetarian for my fellow vegs - Replace the refired beans in many dishes (such as the a la carte burritos) with the ""frijoles de la olla"" - these are meat/lard free. The rice is cooked w/ chicken stock :( You can also pick different sauces such as the ranchero sauce, tomatillo salsa, enchilada sauce, or reg. salsa which is good to make many meals veg. Enjoy! Pros: Good Salsa, Location, Inexpensive-Mid Cons: Crowded more

Fun Dining 5/3/2005

New to the area and have heard so much about this place, let me tell you it was like walking into Cheers, everyone was so friendly, food was really good and they have great prices. loved the ambience.Only thing I can say on the downside it was very crowded Pros: Food, Service, Prices Cons: Crowded more

One of the best, but not the best 3/28/2005

I've been going here for years, and I always get the old standby-cheese enchiladas. They are good, but not amazing. The service is always lousy, and the waiters/waitress usually don't like to do their job. Almost no Vegetarian options, but the sopapillas are great! Pros: Portions, Chips y Salsa Cons: Lousy service, Crowded seating more

Fun atmosphere 10/15/2002

The chips and guacamole are delicious! I haven't really found a dish that I really like yet, but the enchilladas are pretty good. The margaritas are very good too!! The boothes are too small. And they do get crowded during peak times. Pros: margaritas Cons: crowded more

Big, fun restaurant 9/18/2002

The food at Jose O'Shea's is very ""Americanized"", but it is still delicious. The chips and salsa are very good and their frozen margaritas are quite tasty. Happy hour in the bar upstairs includes a complimentary taco bar, which is a good deal. Pros: Good food, Lots of parking, Great Happy Hour more

MMMMM Good! 7/25/2002

I love the seafood type enchiladas, but everything I have ever eaten here is wonderful! I don't like the crowded atmosphere during happy hour though. It was shoulder to shoulder while waiting for a table. I won't go at that time again. more
