Not the same as Cambridge favorite 1/5/2010

I was a longtime (12-15 years) regular customer of the Cambridge location so I was disappointed to see them leave. Just went to the new Boston location and I was extremely disappointed. The food is not at all the same. The only samosa choice was a selection of 4 mini samosas that arrive unidentified on the plate. It didn't matter because the all tasted the same. The chicken tikka masala was in a strange flavorless tomato sauce, chicken korma was overpowered by a strong cinnamon. I would have rather enjoyed my memory of the place. Pros: Can't think of any Cons: Disappointing expensive food more

Not a great place to eat, go for the view. Buffet is ok 10/14/2008

Bad service... waiters with no Decency...... 8/28/2008

We were there on Wednesday night for dinner with friends and some older members of the family.\r The basic service water came after 15 minutes and that too when the restaurant was not even half filled.\r Waiters looked like Drakula's in total Black uniform. They were outspoken which they must not. The Older persons with us were not willing to eat so we ordered 6 entries . The Waiter insisted us to order more entrees , we explained him the reason still he was speaking in a not so good tone . I mean who is he to tell us what to eat and what not to. Food was bland and naan breads were too small compared to what are available in other Indian Restaurants. Pros: location : harvard square Cons: bad service, average food, scary waiters more

Big Dissappointment 6/15/2008

This was my first time visiting Bombay Club and the restaurant was a major disappointment. We were waited on very poorly, never getting water when we needed it and given ONE paper napkin to wipe our hands instead of the usual cloth. As said before, the only thing that the waiters brought willingly and quickly was the check. We opted for lunch buffet. \r The food itself was very bland and lacked the taste of spices that is normally entailed with Indian food. On top of that, the food was never replaced, cold, and there was limited choice for the entrees (6). The rice was not cooked very well and the chicken had a weird texture. Keep in mind we went on Father's Day since I wanted to take my father somewhere nice. My father was disappointed and that is enough for me to never go back to Bombay Club. Pros: ambience, location, validation of parking Cons: bad food, poor service, too expensive, more

Salty food, bad service, dirty furniture/carpets. Only saving grace is its good location with nice view of Harvard Square 5/30/2008

Salty food, bad service, dirty furniture/carpets. The food was saltier than I'd like, nothing special. The temperature of the food was warm, not hot. The service is poor with unfriendly wait staff. The furniture and carpet are very old and dirty and need to be replaced. Even though we were one of the first customers there for lunch, there were already crumbs all over the carpet, chairs, and table. They need to hire better cleaning staff. Only saving grace is its good location with nice view of Harvard Square. I do not recommend this and will never be going back. Pros: good location in Harvard Square Cons: everything else more

Sunday Brunch 6/17/2007

Just had the sunday brunch here...rice was not hot... completely unsanitary conditions\r Dirty silverware, cups with residue and food all over carpets. Also a completely rowdy crowd\r Someone even changed their kid's diaper in the front of the restaurant! I will not be returning.\r Food was ok, but at almost $12 overpriced for that kind of service/ambience. more

Never Been Disappointed 2/26/2007

I've never been disappointed with a meal from Bombay Club. I've always found the staff attentive and the food great. I can't speak for the Sunday buffet (I see that's where a lot of the bad reviews are from) but I'd encourage people to head there for a ""non-buffet"" meal. Pros: Good food more

Tasty food if appetite not ruined by everything else 12/1/2006

We were invited there for the Sunday brunch buffet by our Indian friends who said the food was good. The food was indeed tasty and available unlimited, with regional choices not commonly available such as the snacks table, and chef making dosas right there for you. However, it was chaotic with everyone milling around, and the buffet tables, not adequately supervised, were getting messy as food ran out, spoons sank into the curry (yuck), spills not wiped, dishes ran out, etc. The staff was also not attentive - maybe it had something to do with buffets being more self-service and each table not assigned its own waiter. This is not a cheap place, but it was being run like a cafeteria. At this price range one should be able to expect nice tablecloth (not sticky tables), good cutlery (not all scratched up and greasy), and most importantly good service & etiquette. The worst moment was when the waiter took my plate away and placed my dirty silverware right on the (already greasy) table. That was the end of my appetite. Bombay Club has been around a long time - almost an institution in Harv Sq, but they are wearing their reputation thin. I hope the management wakes up and makes critical changes soon. Pros: Tasty, authentic Cons: Overall unhygienic feel more

Not Recommended 6/7/2006

This was on Sunday Afternoon, i have not seen this place in weekdays so i cannot comment for other days. Place was dirty, food all over the carpet and tables were sticky. Sunday Buffet was very bad, only good food was dosa. To get bread we had to wait for 45 minutes, every waiter is eager to bring the check not bread or water. Please treat all your customers equally. Pros: Dosa Cons: Service, Food and ambience more

Mmm... yummy 12/13/2005

I'm always pleasantly surprised at how good and how fresh the food is at Bombay Club. It's a favorite spot, but I always enjoy it more than I remember. The mataar paneer is silky smooth and flavorful. I love the fresh dosa, and the chaat station cannot be beat. I highly recommend it here. Pros: Great food, Affordable Cons: Busy at times more

Best lamb dish ever ... polite service too 4/22/2005

Bombay Club is still the best Indian food in Cambridge ... went back after a long time and was surprised to see a quite a few Non-Indian staff. We were seated immediately and the we decided to try the lamb chops - barra kebab the waiter recommended and ofcourse the Chicken Tikka Masala. The lamb had the best marination I ever tasted and the Chicken Tikka Masala was just like I remember it. The best Indian food for sure. more

Poor, indifferent service; food was bland. 3/15/2005

I was very disappointed in my most recent visit to this restaurant. Service was very slow and indifferent. Food was warm at best and very bland. You're paying for the location. I would never go back to this restaurant. It took a long time to get the bill because the waiter was looking around for a pen. The one he had ran out of ink. Everything about the place is inferior except the location. Cons: slow service, bland food, pricey more

Horrible Service 7/25/2004

It has horrible buffet. The al-a-carte is nice but it has got the most unfriendliest people in any restaurant I have been to. I would any day recommend Tanjore to Bombay Club since they have good service, good food and more quantity then Bombay Club. I would not go to any restaurant if they think they are obliging us by servicing us food. more

horrible food... what happened?!! 3/22/2004

we used to go to this place every month. that was 7 yrs ago. then i moved. now that i moved back to boston, i had an opportunity to revisit my favourite restaurant recently, and i was horrified. first, the price -- almost $15 for chicken tikka masala! then the food itself. i'm not exaggerating when i say that this was the worst chicken tm i've ever had. the sauce was totally bland. the chicken had a horrible texture like boston market at its worst. i was dining with 2 friends and they both said the sauce tasted like ragu. their dishes weren't much better. all three of us are somewhat of indian food connoiseurs and we know what good or even avg indian food tastes like. i usually give 2nd chances. but i really doubt i'll return to bombay club. at such outrageous prices, it's not worth the risk. Pros: good location, good ambiance more

Great place 10/29/2002

I guess I've always received special treatment here, because I think this place has great food and was a lot of fun. The wait staff was always quick and curtious. The bar is great too. Mango mimosa or mango margarhitas give an uncommon twist to very common drinks. I will always enjoy the bombay club, not just for food and service, but for the price. Pros: Good food, Great prices Cons: Kind of hidden, ValidateParkingTooFar, Can be crowded more
