Best food in Boulder 1/11/2011

A friend from Hawaii visited and gave me a gift certificate to this ""incredible"" Boulder restaurant they discovered on the Pearl Street Mall (silly tourists!) Out of jaded curiosity I went, expecting your basic Boulder experience - decent food, but nothing to get excited about. Wow! I've been back a number of times for meals that always feature explosions of flavor, the freshest of ingredients, and amazing drinks. I've given out at least half a dozen gift certificates to friends. If you want to wake up tastebuds dulled by standard restaurant fare, this is the place to go. Five stars!!! more

Happy to see this black cat on my path 8/25/2008

In a nutshell, pleased by the experience overall, some areas need minor adjustments however. The food was by far the strong point; very fresh flavor combinations, (even if a bit repetitive i.e. poultry and arugula both used on 3 plates out of 7 on the tasting menu), with beautiful presentations. Ambiance is cozy to chic, maybe a little too bright. Service was attentive, however our server clearly knew very little about our wines that were being paired with our courses since they were all ""nice and ___"" (insert another non-descript term about wine here). Also, the pairings were a bit odd with some of the varietals being completely overwhelmed by the cuisine. She was very friendly however, and that makes up for a lot of holes in her experience...kudos. I will try this place again and also recommend it. Pros: Cozy, romantic, excellent food Cons: Staff knowledge more

A great night at the black cat 7/21/2008

We had the 7 curse tasting menu at the Black Cat and it ended up being 10 courses due to the chef sending out extra curses. For a more detailed review and photos please visit my blog at www.milehigheater.blogspot.c o m"" The extra courses were a blessing and a curse as it was wonderful food from start to finish but well made and thought out however after 10 courses we could barely move at the end of it. The only real problem with the blakc cat is howclose the tables are together but the great food quickly let you forget that. Pros: Great food Cons: very close packed seating more

What a great find! 3/9/2008

We followed a friend's recommendation to try the Black Cat because the food was the best in Boulder. We had the tasting menu and were dazzled. They take the tasting menu seriously and it was the best I've ever had. Service, Food, Atmosphere were spot on! Pros: Very romantic, amazing food, great wine list Cons: Getting a table on saturday night! more
