Avant Card

Berkeley has a lot of specialty stores...but I think Avant Card is a major rip off...It's difficult to find any cards under $3 and there's nothing really special about those...the really cool ones can range from $6-$10!!! Who spends $10 on a card?!!! But yeah...anyways...other than that it is a convenient place to go and it is close to me so it's great for last minute things... more

the great thing about avant card is their huge diverse and unique selection. it's a specialized card store so there's tons to choose from, and you can rest assured that you can find one that you will like. They also carry stationery and other supplies for all your needs. Great card shop to find the special card to fit any situation you have! really accessible too, since it's right next to campus. more

They have a huge inventory of postcards. I buy them in packs of 10 because they offer a 50 cent discount if you buy 10 of them at once. There are cards for sale for all occasions, from birthdays to get well soon cards. Hard to miss the building but it's small. more

avant card is a great little card shop in Berkeley with a different selection than the normal stuff you find at places like hallmark or Carlton cards. they also carry other things besides greeting cards like stationary, photo books, scrap booking accessories, and office-type decorations. because the shop is pretty small, i wouldn't go out of my way to check it out, but if I'm in the neighborhood, it's a good place to go to get something a little different from the average hallmark card. more

Believe it or not, I am a really big fan of greeting cards, so I get pretty picky about which greeting cards I buy for friends. On most occasions, I spend hours shopping different stores to get my friends the perfect cards for whatever occasion it may be. I found Avant Card by accident while walking home one day, already holding a greeting card I bought from Papyrus for a good friend of mine as her birthday was coming up. From the outside, the store didn't look too impressing. It was small, and with only three customers inside at the time and one person working, I didn't think much of it. However, as I am a fan of greeting card stores in general, I decided to pay Avant Card a little visit. I was blown away. Unique cards that you would not find in your local drugstores, such as those by Hallmark and Carlton, were inside this very small store. Cards from witty to funny to serious were inside this store, and after several visits, it has quickly become one of my favorite greeting card stores. The atmosphere was nice enough so that you could easily take your time and read through the cards before purchasing them. The only con is that one of the salesperson I met wasn't all too friendly, but until the time of checking out, I was so immersed in the world of greeting card shopping that I really did not care too terribly. more

Avant-Card is the way to go when you are searching for that special, particular card you just can’t find anywhere else. They have gorgeous handmade cards and stationary, the artwork on the cards and journals is amazing, and they offer complimentary wrapping if you are giving a gift. Great place to go if you are a stationary lover! more

They have a very good selection of cards you won't find at your local drug store. They have a lot of cards with beautiful artwork on the front. They also carry a selection of beautiful stationary, journals that beg to have wonderful things written in them, and gift wrap the recipient will carefully remove so it can be saved. more

I think I must have bought 90% of my cards from this store when I was going to school at Cal. Great selection of unique cards that you usually don't find in your local hallmark. Have chinese character cards as well as some neat picture cards. Also sell some cool wrapping paper and tissue paper. Small store, but great selection. more
