Best

Once again, this proves to be one of my favorites in Austin. It is a great alternative to the pricier restaurants that have all the sides a la carte (Eddie Vs, Perrys, Three Fork...

Worst

Below average service and poor quality cuts of meat. Wine list is so-so and presentation even worse. Has the feeling of a large chain restaurant.

Not anymore my favorite 3/26/2003

To me, the best thing off the menu is the filet mignon, very tendor but don't know where all the flavour's gone, you're gonna need to get Garlic sauce as a side, it's good. Don't go for Rib-eye there. The place is often too crowded, even though I made reservation (a must), I was still put in a dark corner next to the service area.. Don't like.. Our table was so close to others that I could hear all the conversation they had! And the food is overpriced. more

Come check it out. 2/4/2003

Great food. Excellent Steaks. You really can't go wrong here. I recommend ordering a black and blue new york strip. If you order your steak well done this is probably not the place to go because you might as well be eating leather. They have a really relaxed environment and it is a great place to kick back and have a drink or 5. more

Flattened 2/4/2003

My steak was tasty but too thin. I like a thicker cut of meat that has more of the ""unseared"" surface that a thin cut provides. more

Very Good 1/26/2003

Certainly the best steak in town. You'll love the atmosphere and get what you pay for. Pros: Steak more

Great Steaks! 1/3/2003

I have been to AL&CC several times and have never been disappointed. Not only are steaks always right on the money (I've never had to send it back) but the service is also outstanding. Cons: Parking more

An Austin Classic 1/1/2003

Our waiter was a perfect gentleman and well-versed in the two reds: wines and steaks. Items arrived just as you started thinking you needed them (a nice surprise). Try the fried mushrooms with the chili mayonnaise sauce. The Ahi was exceptionally seasoned and perfectly done (rare) and the steaks showed the grill-master's attention with nice waffle pattern sear marks on the nice pieces of beef. Give the house steak sauce a try, if you're into that type of thing. Desserts looked enticing, but we had our fill already. This is our new fave steakhouse in the city! Pros: Profesional Service, High Quality, Ambience more

Do we seat ourselves? 12/11/2002

First time to Austin Land and Cattle and was so turned off before we got to our table my girlfriend and I left! Three unpleasant things happened. 1. Parking was to few and with very tight parking spaces. Add to this there were a couple trucks with lift kits, you know the ones that belong in an arena entertaining a crowd, taking up their spaces and more. 2. No hostess to greet guests! I had to hunt someone down and ask Do we seat ourselves? 3. While heading to our table, the employee/hostess leading the way had to stop and visit with another employee on something that could have obviously waited till after we were seated. At that point I decided 3 strikes your out and to cross this restaurant off my list and left. Cons: Parking, Promt Seating, No Hostess more

Not At Level of Others 12/4/2002

Nice , Austin feel , but the steak's quality is measured in size rather than high-temp searing , andpresentation .Not the best , not the worst.Mid-scale ""value"" . Pros: size, Austin -feel more

Good -- Not Great 12/4/2002

Service and decor and a decent value. The only downside the this place is occasional lapses in the quality of the meat. Soups, salad, and apps (especially the mushrooms) are very good. Cons: parking, parking, parking more

Very Mediocre 12/4/2002

Below average service and poor quality cuts of meat. Wine list is so-so and presentation even worse. Has the feeling of a large chain restaurant. more

Best steak in Austin? NOT! 11/10/2002

Just ate there....service was just ok, definately not the best steak in Austin. more

tender cuts 11/10/2002

We go to Austin Land quite often and have never had any problem (other than parking). The food is alway great as well as the service. I have even held company parties for up to 40. I must say it was crowded but everyones food was perfect. We all ordered off the menu when we got there and every order was perfect. I've never had another place accomplish this. Not a place I would go for a special occasion but you cann't get a better meal in Austin. Enjoy Pros: great steaks, great soup Cons: horrible parking more

Got a BONE to pick? 10/24/2002

The atmosphere may be delightful and the steaks may be damned good, but there is no such thing as a Bone In Rib Eye!! Any cut of meat that is an ""eye"" is bone free. An eye of round roast has no bones nor does a rib eye steak. If the bone is left in it is because the cut is made before or after the actual section of the rib the rib ""eye"" is taken from or they just want to charge you more money for the added weight the bone brings. When you go out to eat or to the store and see ""Bone in Rib-Eye"" just get something else because there is no such thing! I suggest the T-Bone. more

WOW 10/21/2002

Great Atmosphere, easy parking and wonderful service. The gorgonzola cheese butter is to die for. Special occasions for us only, but not bad for the price. Pros: FOOD, PARKING more

not worth it 9/21/2002

For a place that is known for steaks they really do a poor job. Price verses quality of steak is very poor. you would think paying 20.00 for a steak it would be a good cut, my experience at this place will be the last. Cons: overpriced, poor quality more

muy bueno!!!! 9/5/2002

the steaks here are always oustanding, as is the sweet potato clam chowder ( one of my personal favs). Kinda pricey but well worth it. Pros: service is a bit slow, pricey more

wow 9/3/2002

all i can say is....DAMN it's good. always tell people to not go to texas land & cattle. ALWAYS AUSTIN!!!!!!! more

rocks 9/2/2002

It is ZEE BEST! And that is all I have to say about that. more

Huge Disappointment 8/30/2002

I was very disappointed the last time I went to Austin Land & Cattle Co. The steak was tough and their vegetable of the day was corn that tasted like it was straight out of the can! When you a premium for good food, you expect good food! However, their stuffed mushrooms were excellent. more

The best of Austin 8/23/2002

Whenever I'm in Austin it is a must to eat at this fabulous restaurant. more
