Gigantic portions of delicious breakfast 12/16/2003

OK, I love to eat. I can put away my share of food, and still ask ""are you going to eat that?"" Not at Ann Sather. The omlettes are so fluffy they take up the entire plate. You're going to want some fresh squeezed OJ, some (deservingly famous) cinammon rolls, and some sort of egg based breakfast. The wait staff is INCREDIBLY nice, almost rediculously so. The owner Debbie will frequently come up and ask how things are. I've even had her come over and slap down some of her brownies for me to try. The crowd tends to be locals and, er, older folks. Being a pierced out long hair, I draw my share of looks, especially in this traditional, pastel colored environment. Bottom line, if you want breakfast and you're in Andersonville, you'd be crazy or stupid to pass up Ann Sather. Pros: BIG portions f/ cheap, super friendly, crazy delicious Cons: closes around 2 or 3, can't walk afterwards more

Yummy Pastries 11/20/2002

I LOVE ANNE SATHERS! I first came upon Ann Sathers while I was at school at DePaul and one of my roommates suggested it for breakfast. It is conviently located off of the brown or red lines, and they also have free parking which is a big, big plus. The hashbrowns are fabulous and the breakfast always leaves me full. Also, they have the best waiter (JOSE I LOVE YA) there! I have taken friends and family, and yet to here a complaint! Pros: Great food, Great Service, Parking/ Public Trans Cons: ambiance is average, can be crowded more

My personal favorite!!!!! 11/15/2002

Ann Sather has wonderful breakfast & the city's best cinnamon buns ,if you have'nt had them yet i urge you to do so. The place is usually very crowded for breakfast but well worth the wait ,and the chef Andy Winkle is an awesome guy and a great cook. Keep up the good work Ang........Shawni Pros: great atmosphere, awesome cinnamon buns Cons: crowded more

Great breakfasts! 8/17/2002

Ann Sather is a Chicago institution. If you're visiting the city on vacation, it's a ""must go to"" for breakfast -- but for best atmosphere, be sure to visit the one in Andersonville (5207 N. Clark) or the original one on Belmont near the el. The food is Swedish-American. Try the lingonberry pancakes. No matter what you order, though, cinnamon rolls are ever-present and will be brought to your table. Enjoy. more

Groovy Omelets!! 7/23/2002

Really great! I highly recommend breakfast here! Try the crabcake benedict - YAY! The asparagus and havarti omelet is also wonderful! Of course, if you've never tried them, have the cinnamon rolls - but share it! If you eat the wjole thing, most won't have room for the real food! Pros: Friendly, Fresh, Delicious Cons: Bad parking, Crowded, Loud Children more

Good location 5/20/2002

I like this Ann Sather much better than the one on Belmont. This one seems cleaner, quainter and just an all-around nicer experience. The sandwiches are huge, especially after indulging in those famous cinnamon rolls (as if anyone could resist). The whole place, including an upstairs open when things get really hopping, looks more like something out of a movie than real life -- can anyplace still really be this wholesome? -- but you are convinced by meal's end. Forsake the hustle, bustle and edginess of the Belmont location for a comfortable meal here. more
