LOVE this restaurant!! 3/31/2011

Easily some of the best Italian in Dallas. I've tried all the Italian restaurants in Lakewood and the only one I will eat at is Angelo's. Everyone is friendly and we always have a great experience, not to mention the amazing food! Love the rolls and amazing caesar salad and my favorite dish has to be a toss-up between eggplant parmesan, chicken piccatta, and fruity del mare. the seafood maria is pretty great too. and don't get me started on the bread pudding! UH-MAY-ZING!!!! check out this little neighborhood gem! more

Great food, but time for a register update 6/6/2010

Just left this restaurant and had to write a review. I knew from the moment we sat down that I would be, but the review took a sharp turn when we were on our way out the door. Keep in mind, we had a party of about 15 people. The original plan was 11 or so. They were really great about accommodating, and the wait staff did a great job taking care of everyone. Even when we added to the party, they still worked really hard to take care of us. When the food came out, it was hot and everything tasted great. At this point, I still had no complaints. When we got ready to leave, I walked across the street to the ATM to make things easier. When I came back in, some of our party were arguing with the host who was so accommodating in the beginning. Rather than splitting up the checks (as we understood would be possible from our waiter) the host wanted to just divide up the check by number of people, and have each person pay that amount. Unfortunately, some people only had salads, drinks, etc. Rather than getting so frustrated with splitting things up, I just wish the host had chilled out, and worked through the ticket (which is eventually what happened). The restaurant was not that busy, and there was plenty of time for that. My only real suggestion for this restaurant is to update their register and/or get a computer to make things easier on them and the diners. Otherwise, I really loved the food and the wait staff did a great job! Pros: Food, wait staff, atmosphere Cons: outdated register/computer, pissy host more

Avoid!!! 5/14/2010

Full of attitude. Restaurant had five or fewer tables seated when we came in. Host wanted to seat us at a half table/booth. Asked if we could sit in one of the booths (all but one was open). The host looked to another waiter who said the booths were reserved. ""All of them."" The booths are in more than one area of the restaurant, it was dead, and the guy was clearly being arrogant. That explains why the restaurant was almost empty. I won't bother going again and I will make sure I tell everyone I know about this experience. Pros: Location Cons: Service more

The most romantic, authentic Italian restaurant in Dallas! 2/11/2010

If anyone out there is looking for a ROMANTIC place to take your girlfriend, wife or friend for Valentine's Day then check out Angelo's Italian Grill! The atmosphere is like Little Italy in NYC and has authentic food. This place is perfect to bring your sweetheart for the perfect Valentine's Day evening! Amazing food without the high prices and a great atmosphere just 5 minutes from uptown/downtown and M Streets. Pros: Amazing Food! more

Best Italian Food I have had in Dallas 2/7/2009

Recently ate here & really loved it. The whole experience was great - food, atmosphere & prices. Cannot wait to try their lunch buffet. My colleagues have really been impressed with it. Pros: Generous portions - great prices Cons: none that I can think of. more

Highly Recommended 11/14/2008

What a great little restaurant. We had a wonderful experience. Our waiter John was excellent. We ordered the Seafood Sampler and Greek salad and have only praise for all.....I highly recommend this little jewel of a restaurant. Pros: Food, ambience, service Cons: Parking more

Great food great service 9/23/2008

My wife and I were looking for some good Italian in Dallas. We found this cozy little spot in Lakewood called Angelos. From the start we were greeted at the table with two giant garlic rolls... the marinara that accompanied them was some of the best I have ever tasted. The caesar is amazing and the dishes are huge and wonderful. The chicken parmesan was excellent and my wife had the frutti di mare, which she loved. The place is a mom-and-pop shop and dimly lit, which is perfect for a date. We have found our new favorite italian restaurant!!!! more

Overpriced!! 9/16/2008

way over priced, small portions and an insult to a real italian which I am. You need a magnifying glass to find the eggplant in the eggplant parmesan. more

WORST SERVICE and EXPERIENCE 4/18/2008

My husband and I along with two of our good friends had dinner at Angelo's yesterday evening. We will not be going back! For the price you can find much better food and service at any other Italian restaurant in Dallas. We were rarely able to speak with our waiter; we constantly had to send the busboy to find him. What should have been a quick dinner ended up lasting almost 2 hours because we were constantly having to track down our waiter. \r \r Go somewhere else if you want to have a nice dining experience ... this place is not worth your time or money.\r more

Great place to eat anything Italian. 4/13/2008

I found Angelo's to be a friendly and unpretentious, casual but nice enough to make a meal feel a little special. You can show up at the door and know that you'll get a table before too long. The food is exceptional and this is where you want to eat Italian food, the only problem is how to stop eating, from the bottomless pile delivered to your table by professiona waiters who are efficient in making your meal a very nice dining experience. All in all it's a great place to eat with great service, and I can't wait to eat their again. Pros: The food, the service, and the reasonable prices. Cons: None that I can think of. more

A Taste of Little Italy in Lakewood 4/3/2008

I have passed Angelo?s in Lakewood many, many times always wanting to go in. There were some nights where there looked to be no one in the place, but other nights, I do not think you could have gotten a table. I looked over the menu posted in the window and thought, a little high priced ? but finally decided to give it a chance. The decor reminded me of some of the small places in Little Italy in Manhattan. The food was just as good. The Manicotti was delicious, with a nice blend of spices and cheese. The Baked Ziti was equally tasty. I was floored by the buttery rolls and marinara sauce. I have to go back to try some of the chicken dishes. Pros: Decor, Service Cons: None yet more

Awesome Pizza, Great Date Night Restaurant 1/15/2008

Their pizza is so delicious! Don't forget about Angelo's when you're ordering pizza take-out/delivery - SO much better than those chains. When eating at the restaurant, I recommend the back area where it's romantic with the low lighting. The servers have always been very friendly and attentive, but not overly in your face. Can't say ANYTHING negative. Pros: Wonderful pizza for take-out, Ambience, Great location in Lakewood more

Worst experience ever in a restaurant 9/29/2007

Manager openly arguing with customers at multiple tables and extremely slow service. Very disappointing for a place that we have always considered one of the traditional Dallas haunts. Avoid at all costs! Pros: Food continues to be good. Cons: Service drags all else down. more

FABULOUS PASTA & PIZZA!!! 5/4/2007

WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! WENT THERE LAST NITE & HAD THE BEST CHICKEN PARMESAN EVER!! FABULOUS CAESAR SALAD CAME WITH THE DINNER & GARLIC ROLLS TO DIE FOR!!! WHERE HAS THIS WONDERFUL PLACE BEEN ALL MY LIFE. IT WAS MY FIRST VISIT BECAUSE OF OPERATION KINDNESS--THIS GREAT PLACE DONATED 25% OF THEIR DAYS TOTAL TO THE ANIMAL SHELTER. WHAT A GREAT EXPERIENCE -- THEY KNOW HOW TO COOK ITALIAN. GOOD FOOD, GOOD WINE, GREAT ROMANTIC ATMOSPHERE & THEY DONATED PART OF THEIR PROFITS -- WHO COULD ASK FOR ANYTHING MORE. WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! Pros: FAB FOOD , FAB SERVICE, FAB ATMOSPHERE Cons: ITS 20 MILES FROM MY HOUSE!!! more

Awesome food, great service! 4/15/2007

Nice and cozy atmosphere. Attentive servers. You must try the Caesar salad, best in Dallas! Food is top notch. I will definitely be back! Pros: Food Quality, Service more

Don't waste your time.. 4/5/2007

My husband and I have been waiting in anticipation for the results of the best pizza in Dallas to be published. I am a transplanted New Yorker, Texan by marriage and we have definite opinions about pizza. Our usual is Pizza Guy on Preston in N. Dallas, but have been known to drive to Austin to pick up a couple of pans from Conan's when the mood strikes us. We live across the street from Pastazio's and even with all the hype, we aren't impressed. Campisi's and I Fratelli pizza we like - the italian food is good too. And finally, out of the other ""Top-Rated"" pizza places in Dallas, that we've been too, Fireside Pies was overpriced and undercooked when we went to the Plano location. To us, the sauce is the most important aspect of a pie, with the crust running a close second, so based on all of that information we know what we are looking for and this place AIN'T IT!. Angelo's is bland, bland, bland! There is nothing special about this pizza. Nothing. You would do better going to Walmart and buying a DiGiorno. Pros: uhm... trying to think of one Cons: overpriced for what you get, not enough parking, staff wait on friends first more

Very, very good! 2/15/2007

Good, basic Italian food in a casual and homey atmosphere. The portions are huge...it would be easy to split a meal. Good wait staff, fabulous hot rolls. more

Citysearch DOES have a sense of humor 12/24/2006

I had seen that Citysearch had named Angelo's the ""2006 Editoral Winner of Best Pizza in Dallas"" award, so naturally I had to give their pizza a go to confirm any truth to the claim. Here is my experience. So, we get there to find it crowded, so much so that they only had a tiny table available ... in a tiny part of the restaurant. Ok, if the pizza is worth it then no big deal. To be accurate in comparing their pizza with the other highly rated pizza joints I've been to, I ordered a hamburger pizza just as I had done with the other pizza restaurants I've rated. To start off with, It took a bit longer than expected for our pizza to be served. Well that's ok too, IF the pizza is as advertised. I took my first bite into the pizza and my immediate thought was ""boring"". I took a few more bites and my opinion was still the same - boring and bland ... along with the thought , ""This was voted Best Pizza in Dallas???"" The problem I had with the pizza was that the tomato/pizza sauce had very little taste to it. And the hamburger topping was also nothing to write home about. Along with the words ""boring and bland"" to desribe Angelo's pizza, I would also use the word ""flat"" - as in flat tasting. After eating a few slices I decided I had enough - even though I had room for more. So we finished eating and we sat there ... and we sat there ... and we sat there ... the entire time (seemed like eternity) waiting for the waiter to bring us our check. He never did -- BECAUSE HE FORGOT ABOUT US!! Even though he was very attentive to us at first, after awhile he apparently just forgot about us. We got tired of waiting and got up and walked to the register to pay so we could leave. The lady at the register said, ""Didn't you get a ticket (the bill)""? I said ""No, the waiter never came back"". She said nothing in return. I paid the bill and walked out never to return. So, the best pizza restaurant in Dallas? LOL! I think Citysearch meant it as a punchline to a joke.... Pros: ambience and atmosphere Cons: below average pizza, waiter may possibly forget about you more

Great pasta, pizza and salad! 11/5/2006

I love italian food and one of my favorite places is Angelo's. The atmosphere is cozy and makes you feel like you've escaped the craziness of the day. I recommend asking for table in the back if you're looking for a romantic feeling. Once you've been seated you'll receive some yummy, hot, buttery rolls with the most amazing marinara sauce. I recommend ordering the Ceasar salad with your dinner because it's a really authentic flavor. Ask for anchovies if you're brave! Then I recommend the Sausage Pomodora Pizza. It has big flavor and a small is large enough for 2 people to share (really, I'm not skimping here) so it can be a good value too. My other fav is the Crab and Shrimp Tosca. Oh it's so good . You'll get crab, shrimp, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms and pasta in a very tasty butter sauce. I also recommend the Lobster and Crab Maria if you like cream sauce and my husband is a fan of the Pasta Romano because he loves peppers and sausage. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a first date or really any date, but it's good for a gathering of friends too. The afternoon buffet is okay and I never leave hungry, but it is a buffet so the food quality is lower that it is when you order from the menu. Pros: Buttery rolls, Excellent Caesar, Romantic Cons: Gets crowded on weekends, a bit pricey more

Great food 8/12/2006

This is simply one of the best restaurant in Dallas. The food is worth the price and the ambiance is wonderful. We will be back here again soon. Pros: Parking, Ambience, Food more
