The DMA has an awesome permanent collection and often has very exciting temporary exhibits as well. They have special "late nights" hours and activities for those who are interested; this is a great time to see who comes out of the woodwork to the art museum! Admission is reasonable, and there are discounts for also visiting the Nasher Sculpture Center. You can become a museum member and get perks with each visit.

Anybody interested in history will love this place. It's always an interesting feeling to stand in a spot where so much of American history was changed. The museum details Kennedy's life with tons of details and photographs. They also have a very touching section where people can write their memories of JFK. Although I was a bit young, I liked reading the thoughts of so many people who had lived during his presidency.

I love this place because they have a great selection of asian art that I haven't seen before. The prices are a little expensive since some of the paintings are shipped from asia. I love this place because of the variety they have. The talent and hard work that went into these paintings are amazing and I love the work. I would definitely buy the paintings if i had the cash to do so!

More
Old City Park has a number of historical buildings that you can go through. They have a school, church, bank, newspaper office, blacksmith, farm (live animals), hotel and several homes. At Christmas they have special events including live music with various groups from the DFW area. You can even arrange to eat a meal in one of the homes with your family and group. Some of the homes are quite beautiful and have been restored to their period. There are many skilled craftspeople who you can watch as they make their wares such as the blacksmith and the potter. They also offer horse-drawn wagon rides. Parking is off-site with a bus to transport people back and forth. In my opinion Old City Park is one of the hidden gems of Dallas.

From steam engine to caboose, you can find it at the Age of Steam Railroad Museum. The history of the rails is recounted through a collection that includes a passenger train, a freight train and a branch line train. Steam, electric and diesel locomotives are on display. Since 1936, scientists at the Texas Museum of Natural History have been working to show the natural diversity of Texas. Popular exhibits include the Leonhardt Lagoon Nature Walk featuring birds, insects, fish, plants and trees in their natural habitat. The Texas Dinosaurs exhibit is a must-see with its massive skeletal fossils. The Trinity River Mammoth, fossilized in the Ice Age Exhibit, is believed to have roamed the nearby riverbed 20,000 years ago.

More
Since 1974, this has been the only place in the Southwest dedicated to the preservation and display of African-American art, history and culture. Four vaulted galleries display collections ranging from African art to African-American fine art. One of the main draws is the Folk Art collection and the work of Billy R. Allen. The second floor's historical archives consist of culturally significant documents, books and photographs.

More
The Science Place mostly caters to school kids as evident by the school field trips any given day. IT takes a hands on approach to science and lets students conduct experiments and experience science first hand Grown ups can also participate, thus making it a great family experience. If time permits, go see an IMAX movie. While this theater is not as impressive as the Omni theater in Fort Worth, it is still fun.

More
When I was living in Duncanville, this little library was one of my favorite places to go to get away from everything. Its on a little hill, next to a field of horsemint and wildflowers. It has large circular windows overlooking the landscape. Out back there is a little trail leading to a pond--and if you follow the trail past the pond far enough you will find a little playground. It's a nice place to spend a quiet afternoon.
