Amrid Pest Control

I've used them for 6 years after they inspected the last home that I purchased. They bill us if we want. My wife hates roaches and appreciates their reminders to schedule an appointment. They get the job done, and they seem to keep the same techs a long time. more

I have known Amrid and Tony Thayer for around 25-years. Since I do home inspections and engineering reports on foundations for home buyers, I have seen many pest control technicians at numerous homes. I have probably done around 5000 home inspections with Amrid. In addition, Amrid does work at my personal home. I know Tony Thayer, the owner, and many of his people. So I know whereof I speak. There are many good termite / pest control companies in Houston. Amrid is certainly one of the very best. All his people take the time to do a first class job. There is no one in Houston that is better than Tony Thayer at explaining to home buyers what they are getting into (with respect termites, etc.) and what is required to correct the situation. If a home buyer or owner asks Tony to do something he does not think is the right thing to do, he will simply turn the work down. One of the things Tony and Amrid does is that if they do a termite report for a real estate transaction and the new owner finds active termites within 90 days, he will treat the whole house for free. That is extremely generous since termites could show up at any time. There may be others who do this but, if so I do not know who it would be. I have worked with Tony at home shows where he spent much of his time telling home owners how they could take care of certain problems themselves without professional assistance. I have never had any reason to complain with the work Tony and his people have done at my home. They do what they promise to do. They do it when they said they would and they do it for the price they quoted. And they do their work in a professional and knowledgeable manner. You cannot ask for a better pest control service. We have used Amrid Pest Control for over 7 years now, and we have been very pleased with their service. We use them for quarterly pest control service and annual termite inspections on all our properties (5). We also use them for initial termite inspections when purchasing properties and for special projects, such as rat control or curing moth problems. The technicians we use (Joel or Howard for regular service; Tony, the owner, for initial termite inspections) are thorough, very attentive to details, and catch what others miss. (They are also so personable and friendly, really nice guys). I've tried other pest control companies before, and while they may pull up in a marked car, and appear in uniforms, this does not mean they do the best job. I think some of the negative reviews are placing the emphasis on the wrong qualities, if you ask me. Yes, it's true that the technicians do not ordinarily wear company uniforms, but since we always use the same person(s), we know them well and do not expect them to come in uniform. Amrid did a WDI report on my house for a buyer who could not obtain financing, so I was left to deal with the report. There were two inspections done on the house a year and a half earlier. Neither of those inspections found any active or previous termite infestations. Amrid found both previous and active infestations. To verify this report, I had three experts from two different companies come out to give me their opinions. None of them found any evidence of termite infestation, previous or active. When I talked with the inspector from Amrid, he became argumentative and suggested I was trying to make him do something underhanded by changing the report. All I wanted was more information. The owner of the company was even more hostile. I would not want to deal with these people under any circumstances. Cons: Questionable Ethics more

i have had very good service from Amrid. I have used them for about 3 years. I can usually get an appointment within a couple of days and they are always here on time. i wish I could get a bill instead of writing a check, but that's a small issue. more

I cannot rate Amrid Pest Control on their service as they did not bother to return my calls. However, I would like to point out that their failure to respond to service requests is both unprofessional and frustrating. The ""girls"" (I assume this means the receptionists?) were out of the office when I called, but a gentleman took my name and number, promising a return call the following morning to set up an appointment. When I did not receive a return call, I attempted to contact them again, but was unable to reach anyone at their office. more
