Run down, not very good 5/30/2008

Building looks run down, you go inside and confirm that suspicion. So run down that it doesn't even pretend to be clean. Can only imagine the bathroom. \r No soda on tap, all cans in the fridge. Older couple running place by themselves and don't look too happy to be there - don' expect any smiles there!\r Pizza - very basic. Tastes like most of the ingredients were frozen or just poor quality. Next time I'll tell my young, cheap co-workers that they need to step up from the broke college kid food. Gross. more

Excellent crust 7/18/2007

This is by far my FAVORITE pizza place in Austin. This is the only place that gets anywhere near new york style pizza. The family that took over years back is very friendly and kept things running smoothly. The pizza tops everything else on the menu, but there are many good things to choose from. The crust is thin, crisp, and just a little bit flaky. I have a hard time taking leftovers home or keeping anything for the next day if I get take out. They do not deliver, but they have a drive through window on the side of the building. There is a very simple dining area with booths and some pinball machines. If you eat there it's good for single, couple, and family dining. Pros: Great food, great price Cons: does not deliver more

Fabulous! 4/11/2007

Aljon's is one of my favorite places to eat in Austin. Their pizza is the best, their Italian subs are delicious, the strombolis, calzones and chicken parmesan are all great too. It is very small and never very crowded and the service is great. :) Pros: everything is great! Cons: nothing :) more

Awesome pizza 12/11/2006

Every time I go to Aljohns they are never crowded. They have awesome pizza, and I have never had to wait longer than 10 minutes to get my food. The resturant is pretty small, but perfect if you need some time to think. I live in Round rock and when I'm in town I make drive there to eat their pizza. more

Avoid on all nights 8/24/2006

What a letdown after reading other reviews. I had the spaghetti and meatballs--early Chef Boyardee with overcooked spaghetti, what I think was little more than tomato sauce, and 2 utterly characterless meatballs. The salad consisted of about 12 shreds of iceberg lettuce, a small slice of pink tomato, a tiny piece of onion, and three small chunks of green bell pepper with a little vinegar, a few drops of oil, and a dash of pepper. The garlic bread was maybe an ounce of small strips of what I guess was white bread with a dash of oil and no discernible garlic taste.\r Other reviews rave about the pizza, but I'll never find out. more

Great Service,Great Pizza! 4/28/2006

I've been going to Aljohn's for almost a year now, my husband and I have never had any complaints. We love the owners, they are very kind, and their little girl is so cute! They pizza is great and always fresh. Our only consern is that they are never really crowded and we don't want them to go out of business!! The location is not in the nicest area of Austin, but this should not keep you coming by! You can even order over the phone and pick it up at the drive-thru! Great service, great pizza! Pros: great food, resonable prices more

greeeeeeeeeaaaat NY style pizza 11/8/2005

This down home joint isn't in the most desirable part of Austin-but don't let that fool ya. The pizza is scrupmtious and the family that owns it is very charming and provide excellent service. It is a great place to join up with friends and have a beer or two while enjoying some of the best calzones and pizza in Austin. Plus homemade crust! A must! more

Best kept pizza secret in South Austin 11/7/2005

I have been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. The pizza is really good but the calzones are the best thing here. The prices are very reasonable and the service is fantastic and very fast. The previous owner was a bit eccentric and harsh to employees and customers but the people who own it now couldn't be nicer. Make sure to come try Aljon's or else they may close down as there is never anyone in there when I go. Pros: Price, Calzones, Service more

How has this place stayed a secret? 7/25/2004

Aljon's has the best pizza that I've come across in a very long time. They offer it at a very reasonable price, the service is fast, and it is never crowded. My only worry is that not enough people eat there and it will have to close. You should give it a try, despite its hole-in-the-wall appearance. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Food more

Incredible 7/25/2004

The place doesn't look like much from outside, but you can't beat the food. I've never seen it very crowded at lunch so apparently people don't realize what they are missing out on. My only complaint is that it isn't closer to my house! Pros: inexpensive, great pizza more

Fabulous 6/9/2004

Everytime my husband and I go in they are so nice and the calzone is a reat deal. Aljon's pizza & calzones are great. Pinball machines are great fun Pros: Inexpensive, friendly staff, fun more

Underrated 5/29/2004

I wasn't expecting much from this barn-shaped pizza joint, but I was pleasantly surprised. The flavor of the pizza is unique (most likely because of the cheese) and surpasses any of its national chain competition. Whenever I'm craving pizza, Aljons is where I head to. Give it a try. Pros: Parking, Quick service, Drive-thru more

SOOO GOOD 2/6/2003

The first time we tried Aljon's was about a year ago and we have been ordering there weekly ever since. Aljon's has the best calzones and their chicken parmesan hot sub is wonderful. Their pizzas are also great. Pros: Inexpensive, Great Food, Good Parking Cons: Not busy more
