I'm done 1/28/2011

He used to be OK, when he was further up Division he used to fix my son's shoe lift. Now, he is so incompetant and unrealiable it is not worth it even if you live next door. I left two handbags and a shoe before Christmas, came back about 10 times, several times the door was locked and he wasn't there even though he sign said ""Open', other times I saw him in the store, parked my car, came to the door, and he was gone, the other times I came, the work wasn't done, and I had to repeat my instructions. DON""T BOTHER! more

Not even worth a star 2/24/2010

1 star is a VERY generous rating, if I could do NO STARS I would. Dropped off 3 pair of shoes to repair in December, told him we'd come back after the New Year to pick them up. First time we came back, they weren't ready. Second Time, they weren't ready. 3rd time was a charm for 2 of the shoes... He did a good job (when he eventually DID the work), held onto the 3rd pair for nearly another month. We had paid ahead and when asked for a refund on the work he DIDN'T he always had a ready made exscuse as to why he couldn't give us the money. We wound up just eating the service charge. Pros: Cant Find Any Cons: No Service at ALL more

Good Repairs, Great Price 12/1/2009

I was referred by Langlitz Leathers, and I had a pair of boots that were separating from the sole, and also the toe was wearing through a bit. Aaron made a great repair & they are better than they were before. As with other reviewers, I did have to call/go back a couple times, but I was not in a hurry to get these boots, and he is the only one there (and a lot of shoes to get repaired!). I paid less than I expected to, he was friendly and seemed genuinely disappointed to have to ask me to come back, and all in all, I would recommend this place and go back again. Pros: location, friendly, price Cons: Timeliness more

Don't waste your time. 9/14/2009

1) Hard to get ahold of - he rarely answers the phone.\r 2) Rarely there during his posted hours. \r 3) Doesn't listen to work request - as in, I asked him to repair a pair of shoes and he polished them.\r 4) Shoes not ready in timely fashion - I called to see if my shoes were ready and he said they were so I went to pick them up and he had not started yet.\r 5) I had to go back 5 times total to get the shoes picked up with the right requests.\r Do not waste your time - go elsewhere even if you have to drive farther you will save time in the long run!!! Pros: Location. Cons: Many...please read below: more

Aaron ruined my boots! 2/11/2009

Aaron ruined a $250 pair of Frye boots of mine by shining them the wrong color. After the snow storm I took my CHARCOAL boots there to be reconditioned and shined. Like others, I had to return a number of times before he actually had my boots ready. Truthfully, I've used him before and had the same experience. He seems like such a shady character that I specifically took in cash to pay him with--I didn't feel comfortable with the idea of him having my debit card number or a check from me. I should have trusted my gut. Instead when I finally went in to pick up my boots he had messed up another customer's order and was knocking $10 off the price of that repair. He then brought out my boots and they were BLACK. When I expressed my dismay he had the audacity to insist they were the same color as what I brought in! He said it was no big deal, that they could be redone to the original color. I continued to express my disappointment in his business practices--never being done on time and in the grossly inaccurate job on my boots. He told me to leave, that I was ""wrecking his good day"". I took my boots to Nob Hill Shoe Repair and the owner there told me that, in fact, he had used the wrong polish but that because it is so dark, it can't be removed. I have taken a photo of the boot next to an original and have written to Aaron requesting he replace my boots. No answer, of course. I am writing to the Better Business folks and Angie's list to spread the word. I just think the guy is a dishonest, F---up who doesn't have a clue about how to run a business. I wish I'd never met him. more

DO NOT take your shoes here. 3/1/2008

I had an awful experience with this shop. I took my shoes here to be re-soled. Aaron, the repairman, told me they would be done in four days. I went in to get them on the appointed day and he hasn't even touched my shoes. He told me they would be done ""tomorrow"". The next day I went in, and I get the same thing-- ""tomorrow"". On several occasions, when I went in, the shop reeked of various kinds of smoke and he was visibly stoned. \r \r It gets a lot worse though. He finally finishes the job, three weeks after he initially promised them. I take them home and wear them. The first thing I notice is that they're tighter. Ten, after wearing them for about two hours, the soles start to come apart. I took them back, and he said he'd fix them right up. The same thing happened again. What happened is that he managed to destroy the integrity of the shoes by sanding them too closely on the sides. Now the shoes will not stay glued to the soles. I had them examined by other shoe repairmen and each confirmed that the shoes are permanently damaged. The shoes were over $100 new. When I asked Aaron for a refund he told me no, no, his repair comes with a lifetime guarantee. He said ""These f***ers are solid!"", and that I can bring them back at any time and he will repair them again for free, like he's doing me a favor. I'm not sure what to do next. \r In summary, DO NOT take your shoes here. more

Same story, different customer 5/1/2006

I was repeatedly told that my shoes would be finished tomorrow, in two days, etc., and showed up on schedule to be given excuses instead of resoled shoes. Who has time for this? On my final visit, I waited 20 minutes for him to finish my shoes. Although he discounted the repairs, I will not be returning. I got home and put my newly resoled sandals on to find that they are now smaller (both shorter and narrower), with some straps too loose and some straps too tight. My favorite shoes are ruined. more

Good and Basic shoe repair! 4/3/2006

I like Aarons alot. He is helpful in the extreme and is willing to take on any problem. I would not recommend Aarons for the repair of antiques as he is not that type of shoe repair. What Aarons is a great place for basic, strong and inexpensive repairs of mens and womens shoes. I have been taking a pair of mens dress Ballys there for a couple of years and his work has been excellent, however he has mostly worked on the soles and the heels. Pros: Parking, Good Service, Friendly more

Can I get my shoes please?! 3/17/2006

I was recommended to this place by a local boot shop I love. Unfortunately, Aaron's quality and service was not similar to that of Al's Boots. I dropped of a pair of vintage leather high heels that I needed new insoles put into and the leather re-conditioned. Everytime I came to pick them up there was some excuse that they weren't done. After leaving his shop four times empty handed, he finally put the insoles in while I waited in his smoke filled lobby (he smokes in his shop for those non-smokers out there!). Then he sprayed a leather conditioner on them and the color began rubbing off on everything! So, he offered to re-color them. The color was not the same as it was a vintage pair of shoes. Nice guy but overall I was not happy with his service and will not be returning. Pros: parking Cons: disorganized, smokes in shop, low quality more
