Best

I know Greg the owner very well this place has always given me the best advise. If your not getting good advise maybe you should check your own attitude. If you don't know anythin...

Worst

I'm very particular when it comes to the fish I buy as well as any items for them. In December, I had scoured the twin cities looking for an Oranda as a Christmas present for one...

I almost punched this old bold guy today! I have NEVER been treated like this bad. I brought in my cichlids for trade in (anywhere usually take store credit for them) after he seems my fishes, he grabbed them and out them into the tanks. then, he walked away, I was shocked cuz he didn't give me any store credit (not even a single buck! ) I've asked him where is my store credit? he said this "" OH, you actually think that I should give you store credit for them? You are lucky that I can provide a home for them). I was upset, if I knew this is the case, I won't even drop off my fish into your stupid store. but I left cuz I didn't want to get into a fight with old man! after a week later, I went back there just want to check out my fish, he had both of my fish (pair) for sale at $50 bucks. How NICE this store owner is? tell you what, I hope your business will be closed soon! Honestly, I will NEVER step back into your store again! thanks A**((hole) more

Editorial review from Citysearch 8/25/2012

After my experience at 'A Wet Pet' last night, I won't be darkening their doorstep ever again, despite being a customer there for the past 4+ years. A few days ago, I went there to purchase some aquarium filters for a new tank, and didn't see the right kind, but a female employee assured me that a brand they sold 'would work just fine'. Being this tank was new, I wasn't so sure, but she told me to go ahead and try these, and if they weren't the right kind, I was assured I could return them. Well, they were not the correct filters, so I went back to the store. From other reviews, I can only assume Greg, the bald older man, was working last night (08/24/2012), and upon my arrival, was dealing with another customer. No problem. I waited up front for about 10 minutes before I went to the back of the store, where he asked if he could assist me. I told him I had a return and that I understood he was with another customer, so I would wait up front. But before I could even really finish, he said, 'A RETURN?? For WHAT?' I said, 'Aquarium filters.' Without another word, he turned his back and continued helping the other customer. At that point, I went back up front and began looking around for any signs that said, 'No Returns', but nothing like that for merchandise purchases. I waited another 10 minutes before Greg came back to the front of the store. I removed the filters from the bag (which were unopened), along with my receipt. He pointed to the receipt and said, 'See here, it says 'EXCHANGE WITH RECEIPT'. I agreed, yes, it did indeed say that, and said I did not wish to exchange them, as I'd looked further, and again, did NOT see the filters I needed, so I wished to simply return them. I was then advised 'there are no returns'. What? When I said that I did not see any signs that stated 'No Returns', he again pointed to the receipt, and again, said, 'EXCHANGE WITH RECEIPT. I can exchange these for something else.' I advised I would just like to have my credit card credited back instead, and handed him the original slip I'd gotten with the purchase. Well, it seems my fatal flaw with this whole purchase was using my American Express card. Greg became very exasperated and hastily advised me that in order to credit my card back, it was going to cost him a total of 10% of my $9.63 purchase price (5% on the sale, 5% on the credit back), so $.96, and because my purchase had been made on 08/18/2012, he wouldn't even get paid for my purchase until 09/18/2012, or 30 days later, because 'that's how American Express works!!'. I NEVER lose my temper with sales people, but he pushed it too far. I told him, 'Look. Are you going to credit my card back, or do I have to dispute this charge with American Express, and just leave these filters with you? Because this charge hasn't even been paid for by me yet, American Express is VERY good about disputed charges, and you have absolutely no signs in your stores about 'NO RETURNS' - and 'Exchange with Receipt is NOT the same thing, sir.' What he did next stunned me. He removed his wallet from his pants, opened it, and literally FLUNG a $10 bill at me, and said, 'HERE'S your $9.63.' Stunned. I was absolutely stunned. For about 5 seconds. I started to go into my purse (yes, I'm a woman) and asked him if he would like his $.37, and all he did was snort, 'Forget it!!' I'm sorry to say I called him an asshole and left the store, but that man had it coming to him. I will never go back, and I suggest people invest their money elsewhere. Honestly, I used this store as opposed to Wal-Mart or Petco, because I do try to shop at the independent places, but this guy? AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Besides being absolutely THE rudest merchant I have ever come across, the store really is overpriced, his female sales associate did give me incorrect information when I believe I explained exactly what I needed. Please, go elsewhere. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. more

Makes me wonder... 2/27/2012

I'm very particular when it comes to the fish I buy as well as any items for them. In December, I had scoured the twin cities looking for an Oranda as a Christmas present for one of my son's bedroom tank. I read the reviews about A Wet Pet but it was the only place I hadn't looked. I slowly made my way to the back of the store, talking to my two boys (ages 14 and 3) about the fish we were looking at . When we had seen all the fish they had to offer, I started to search the shelves for items I wanted for some of my other tanks when I was finally greeted by a lady, with a dismal, ""Uhh, hi."" I smiled and said hello and that was the only communication I received/exchanged with anyone there besides my children and nobody from the store said anything to my boys. Not a truly bad experience but it makes me wonder if this disinterested attitude was a racist thing. Purely speculation due to what other reviewers have written. To be fair, I've called on the phone a few times to inquire about specialty items and have received courteous service from the same female voice as well as an unneeded lecture from a male voice. I would only enter A Wet Pet again if they actually carried an item I was looking for that I couldn't find somewhere else as I feel that any place that wanted my business would try to lend themselves to being readily available (not once I made it down and almost 1/2 way back through their establishment) with at least a minimum rating of ""pleasant"" customer service when greeted face to face. I know Greg the owner very well this place has always given me the best advise. If your not getting good advise maybe you should check your own attitude. If you don't know anything about keeping fish maybe you should look it up so you don't look stupid going into a fish store asking all kinds of dumb questions. more

Won't go anywhere else for my fish needs! 1/21/2012

A Wet Pet has been satisfying my fish needs for as long as I have had a tank, which is several years now.\r \r If ya'll are happy going to WalMart or Petsmart or any of the large chain stores then go for it. They will sell you dying, sick, or aggresive fish without any regard for what you already have at home in your tank. \r \r For those of us who support local businesses we find it very important to keep the little guys going. \r \r A Wet Pet is a well established store with very knowledgeable staff. Seeing as how they are small and there is only a few people who work there it can be difficult to get some face to face time with the only person working.\r \r Have some patience and some knowledge of your own. Sorry fellow consumers but you should do your research before you go into any store to buy any living breathing organism! \r \r You wanna get your butt kissed for spending your precious money go to a chain!!! You wanna be a fish hobbyist and have a good time learning and growing as that then join up with A Wet Pet but remember the relationship goes both ways!! more

WORSE FISH STORE 8/24/2011

A Wet Pet store is a JOKE. The owner Greg (bold old man) is a complete ASS, and I am sure he is racist. My GF and I went in there a few time during summer of 2011, both times, yes I meant BOTH times he didn?t even say a words to us even though we have questions. (he is either tried to ignore it, or pretend he never see us) when we went to check out the fish, we have typical pointed out which fish that we are looking for, But he is trying to get rid of some cheap looking fish and tell us that the fish which we want, it listed in a different price. Once he heard us don?t want to get the fish anymore, he got super angry and said if you guys don?t have money, please don?t waste my time. What a great owner there? I will NEVER bother to spend any cents in this store. HOPE they will run out the business soon. more

Pay attention! 2/9/2010

I had read reviews about this store that were absolutely awful, so I was a little skeptical on whether or not I should go. I WAS very glad that I did. I had previously posted a review speaking of nothing but praise of this place, but after my last two visits I will never set foot in there again! My boyfriend and I had decided to purchase a 60 gallon aquarium with a stand and were very delighted with the price. We put a down payment on it to have it on layaway planning on going back within the week to purchase it and bring it home. When we went to pick it up 3 days later, the lady said ""so this is what you owe... there's a deal for $200 in merchandise, but you're paying this price so I can't do that."" My boyfriend says, well what if we pay the extra $100 to get that price, then can we get the $200 in merchandise?"" She said yes we could do that. So we did. I asked her to write on my receipt that we had 200 in store credit and she said that it showed in the math. Went back that weekend to pick out some filter and heater equipment, got all set to ring up and the total seemed off. I asked if it included the $200 store credit and she said we only had 100. When I asked about it, she had come to the conclusion that you get the sale price we were already given, if you buy an extra $200 in merchandise. So with no budging, we left without purchasing that day to shop around on pricing. Having found the same items WAY cheaper, we went back to purchase livestock. Again, the total seemed off so I asked about my $100 store credit and she said THAT didn't exist because I wasn't spending the 200 in merchandise so therefore I wasn't getting the original price I was told I was getting, and lost the $100 credit I had AND the story on her end changed AGAIN on why I couldn't get the original price. The only thing I would recommend this place as useful for is the knowledge in the aquarist hobby. Pros: Very Knowledgeable Cons: don't get me started! more

Terrible customer service 1/19/2010

I could write a huge review telling all the bad experiences me and my friends have had at A WET PET in apple valley but it would take all day. Just trust me if you want to be talked down to and you like getting bad advice by all means go there otherwise steer clear there are plenty of other places that have a nice and helpful staff. Me and one of my friends were planning on spending about $3000 in there the other week but the way they talked down to us and that they got so pushy about purchasing that we walked out pissed. We took our money somewhere else and spent $2900 between the 2 of us at a place that appreciated the customer. I will never step foot in that place again and don't recommend A WET PET to anyone more

Fishy Details 12/7/2009

A wet pet is much better then petsmart or the dreaded walmart! Though it is very small they still offer a variety of options at really competitive prices. All of the aquarists are very well versed in fish everything...if you have a question they will gladly answer! I didn't at all find that they begrudged answering any of my simplistic questions about fish pet care. I would definitely recommend A Wet Pet to anyone that owns a fresh or saltwater aquarium. Pros: They know a lot about fish Cons: Not knowing it existed more

WORST customer service EVER!!!! 3/29/2009

I had been looking forward to driving the extra miles to visit a fish store with exotic fish. I was planning on buying my father another fish for his tank. (It was his birthday). I was also planning on purchasing a 100 gallon tank with all supplies, and exotic fish to go with it in the near future. I had been doing research on starting a tank for a while now and was very excited about it. I was refered here by a family friend who has spent a lot of money at this store. I was looking for answers to my questions and unfortunately this worker was not able to provide me with service without making me feel humiliated. I simply told her my plan, and she looked at me with a discusted look on her face and said ""I don't believe in buying pets for others as gifts, however you can take this information or let it go to the garbage."" After I told her my father does not live in the area, she said ""Fine, I""ll bag it up then, whatever."" I told her I refused to buy from her store and left upset. My boyfriend who was waiting in the car, saw me upset and decided to enter the store. He asked the woman for a managers card and she said ""I am the manager, but you can call the owner if you wish"". She then threw the card at my boyfriend. There is much more to this, however, but PLEASE take your hard earned money to a business who will appreciate it. Pros: exotic fish Cons: Horrible customer service more
