As a wedding planner / coordinator, I am forever looking for something special to offer clients. Recent clients of mine decided to give a day of beauty / grooming to their attendants as a gift. I made an appointment with Jahmal at 2 Be Groomed for 9 men of varying ages to each receive a straight edge razor shave & a hair spruce on the day of the wedding. The owner not only closed the shop to the public for two and half hours in order to accommodate the party he did a wonderful job all the men looked great! I asked the groom and the groomsmen what they thought of the services provided by 2 Be Groomed. Each and everyone of them said it was a great experience, they all felt pampered, it was the best shave & hair cut they have ever received and they would all go back if given the opportunity (8 of the 9 were from out of state). As a wedding planner / coordinator, it is sometimes difficult to schedule beauty / grooming services for the day of the wedding because of time and sometimes-financial limitations. 2 Be Groomed was more than willing to work within my timeline more

if you have short hair, this is probably the best place to go. If you have long or even somewhat long hair, this is definitely NOT the best place to go. I got my hair BUTCHERED by Jamal. I even showed him a few pictures of my hair before and how i wanted it, and he did the complete opposite. My hair is so short and awkward. I don't understand how he could think i would want my hair this short and awkward based on the pictures i showed him. This is the haircut you give 7 year olds in the summer time. It's so bad I'm thinking of shaving my head for the first time. He cut it so short except in the back, so it looks like i have a mini mullet. And in a week or 2, it'll look like a full blown mullet. He even parted my hair on the wrong side and based my haircut on that. When I realized what he was doing, it was too late. I could've went to the haircuttery and gotten a better job for half the price. Don't believe the hype, unless you have short hair and/or want a shave. At least they're really nice. Oh yeah, this is the first review i've ever written on anyplace, and i tried not to, cuz i felt bad, but i'm sooo diasppointed and pissed that i blew away 31 dollars plus tip on the worst haircut i've had in a while... only come here if you want your haircut short, otherwise, go anywhere else, cut it yourself, let your grandma cut it... more

I stopped by to see a few demonstrations they were doing at a commercial show last weekend and got impressed by the expertise of one of their barbers. He was shaving a guy with a straight razor and he did an awesome job. Everybody got amazed by the great/clean results. I got his bussiness card, his name is Diego. Jamal is the owner/operator of this two chair business and his dedication to his craft is second to none. 7 days a week you can find the affable Jamal doing what he truly enjoys in his cozy jazz filled shop. The end product is something he takes tremendous pride in and my girlfriend always says I look great. Haircuts are $30, and I usually schedule appointments. I am definitely going to try a shave soon! I first visited 2B Groomed last month for the first time and had an amazing grooming session and conversation with the owner. The atmosphere of the shop is amazing and very relaxing. I went on a break from work and have to say that I felt incredible afterward. The whole 2B experience makes you forget about whatever has been bothering you since it is so peaceful and inviting inside. I just recently had my second cut from Mary who also works at the shop and again I was blown away by the great cut and conversation that I was able to have. It's not too often that you find a stylist/barber that will take their time on your haircut like they do at 2B. If you are looking for a new place to get a great cut at a reasonable price, I strongly recommend 2B Groomed. My brother is a hairstylist and he's been cutting my hair for many years. He's moving to another state so i needed a new barber and was very anxious and upset about the whole process but i found 2B Groomed on Citisearch and decided to give it a try. I made the right decision for sure! B.J. actually cut my hair a little bit better than my brother does it, which is a great compliment to her. I'm from South Philly and would go to the same barber since highschool. After my coming out, things changed. I would feel awkward when serviced due to my sexuality, I am gay. I was told of 2 B Groomed by a friend who works at a local club on 13th street. The hair chef (barber),Jamal, made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. My haircut looked as good as a presentation from a five star restaurant. Delicious!. In summary...well done. Jamal was comfortable with me and helped me relax when I became anxious. He is a gentle, easy going and patient soul. Not only do I have a new barber but also a new friend. I will tell all of my gay friends about him. You go boy!!! We love you. I'm usually nervous about trying a new barber, but Jamal was great on the phone and I decided to give it a try. And I'm very glad I did. As a visitor from Germany I was very glad to have my first American shaving experience at Jamal's barber shop ""2B Groomed"". This quaint little 2 chair shoppe really does everything right. The interior has a style from a previous era, the Jazz music is soothing, Jamal and his staff give you a warm welcome. The actual shaving experience is quite the indulgence. The hot steamy towels feel good on the face, and the oils and other products are all very high end and smell wonderful! Jamal is quite the perfectionist. You might think he's done, but he will go hunting down the last little hair and stubble. I walked out of there with smooth skin, smelling good, looking good. I am a very satisfied customer! more

I tried out 2b groomed a few days ago. It was a nice experience. I felt like VIP when i got there. i didnt have to wait in a long line of people. i came in and was served within 5 minutes of waiting. it was very professional and comfortable. Nice calming music, and confident staff. I cant remember the last time i got a haircut like this. Jamal knows how to pick his crew. I like how they do appointments and walk -ins. its great to know when i get there that im ready to jump in the chair on arrival. if i tell the barbers im in a little bit of a hurry, they move faster for me but still get the same result. All in all its a great location, i give it my 2 thumbs up. Pros: I have no complaints. everything was just how it should be when you go to a barber. more

I grew up in Society Hill and moved back to Philly after living in DC and found Jamal and 2B Groomed upon my return. One could not ask for anything more in a barber. The owner Jahmal Rhaney is my older brother. I've seen him go from cutting hair in our bedroom to having his own shop. He's been cutting my hair my whole life and never have i heard anything negative about the way I look. He is the best barber in Philadelphia along with his great staff members, Mary and BJ. There are no other barber shops in Philadelphia like this one. If you dont believe me, look for yourself. The shop is always clean as well as the instruments that the stylist use. Service is excellent! However you picture yourself with a certain hair style, they'll make that image appear in real life. I?m a thirtyish year old woman who sports a short hair cut, (the one Halley Berry made so famous in the 90?s) and I needed a close cut bad. I did not want to go to one of the many gossiping salons that I usually grace with my presence. So I searched the web and found 2B Groomed. The shop was not only convenient (surrounded by a sandwich and coffee cafe) but the staff was very prompt and friendly. I admire the elegant way the products were displayed and the touch of jazz music playing in the background was delightful: Not to forget the awesome haircut I received. Jamal, BJ, and Mary are excellent. They're friendly, professional and good at what they do. They're located near clubs, parks, restaurants and theater, and they know what's going down in the city. They're also located near some choice businesses. I'm a security analyst and I travel a lot. When I've got two hours to meet with clients they don't skimp on quality and get me out on time. When I'm rough I'll wait until I get back to Philly before I let someone else try. I highly recommend them to every traveler and everyone who just wants to look good. A couple of months ago I was in a really dark place and needed to pick myself up, so some college friends planned to drive up from DC to take me out. I was looking rather scruffy at the time and decided to get a professional shave at 2BGroomed. Now, unlike some guys who regularly get a shave at the barbershop, I almost always do it myself at home on the cheap. Plus I'm picky about who I'm going to allow to put a razor to my face. Like many guys, I've had a few bad experiences in the past. Well, I have to tell you that the shave was an amazing experience. I felt and looked like a million bucks afterwards. My friends all commented on how great my clean shave looked. My face was as smooth as a baby's bottom and probably had not been that smooth in years. Just got back from my first cut at 2BGroomed - in a word, great. Very relaxing and professional atmosphere. Nice people and no pressure. My hair is difficult to cut and they did a great job. Very happy with how it looks. Also like the jazz music instead of Power99 - nice touch. Didn't take advantage of the special services (shave, etc) but plan to soon. Highly recommended.
