Great Music Horrible customer service 11/6/2010

I love the DJ's webster gets...just saw jack beats and crookers. The security is seriously impaired. To start with the woman checking tickets scanned my printout twice and told me it was invalid. I politely told her she had scanned it twice and that was why now it says invalid. She rudely told me she knows what she is doing then walkied for help hahaha. After her manager came he quickly caught onto her error and proceeded to search me. This search was way too intimate. The security guard touched my penis then jiggled my testicles around. Whoa! at least take me out for dinner first. After this we were corralled around like farm animals. It says doors open at 10:00 on the ticket they told us we couldn't go up until 11:30 when we got in then they pushed it past 12:00. Once my girlfriend wanted to smoke a cigarette and they charged her an extra $4 to borrow her coat to smoke and then they wouldn't even let us out after all. Nazi Zombie staff for sure really takes away from the experience. The br attendant upstairs is the only person in the place that seems to understand what customer service is. The security and staff at this place is amateur and they act like they own the place and you are invading their home. The owner could have a lot more returning customers and sold out shows if they would make these oafs go through some sort of training. Music was incredible!!! more

Have you ever wanted to experience the club version of Axe Bodyspray? 4/26/2010

Many arrive from New Jersey, or Westchester or even Connecticut to dance the forbidden dance of the Cha Cha Slide. Mickey Avalon blares from the speakers as you swig your vodka tonics and miller lights with limes leftover from the Bush administration garnishing them. The entire experience is a relic to a former era before Ed Hardy, where all you needed to get into the club was a striped shirt, dress shoes and pair of ripped jeans. Residents of Manhattan don't bother. This place is run by the Bridge and Tunnel gang. If you frequent MetroNorth, NJ Transit, or the LIRR, this is the place FOR YOU! No one will judge the rhinestones on your top or the gel in your hair. This place has the ambiance of a Jaeger bomb. I would suggest washing your hands after a late night of partying there. Many patrons produce a mucus known as self tanner and it gets everywhere. more

Webster Hall Robbed Me!!! 3/25/2010

I wish I could give this place zero stars! I went to Lach Presents at Webster Hall a couple nights ago and really enjoyed it. I fell deeply in love with Ching Chong Song, and renewed my love for The Fools and Master Lee. Then I checked my bank statement the next day and saw that Webster Hall charged me an extra $150. The bank tells me that Webster Hall has to fax a letter to remove the hold. When I called them, they refused to do it. They told me that when you open a tab, they hold $150. No one told me that. If I had known that, I never would have opened a tab. I am an unemployed artist. I have automatic payments that are going through tomorrow, and my account will now be overdrawn because of this, plus I really like eating food to survive. I explained all of this, and still no one would do it. I am a very composed person, and this drove me to hysterical crying on the phone with them. They won't take five minutes to fax a letter. I'm so, so upset. I was looking forward to coming to the Antihoot on Tuesday, but I don't see how I can ever go back to Webster Hall after being treated this way. Also, I went out of my way to do the right thing. When the Webster Hall staff sent us into the wrong show, then gave us a hard time about getting our money back to see the right show, they finally let us into the right show but through the side entrance. Now, I totally could have gotten away without paying, but I found out where the door guy was, and paid the admission for myself and my friend. If I hadn't done that, I at least would have had a little cash in my pocket, but now I have no cash and will soon have an overdrawn bank account. I just don't understand how businesses get away with screwing people over the way that they do. Today they informed me that correcting their mistake was "not at the top of their priorities". They admitted that I should have been asked to sign a form stating that they would hold this $150, a form that I clearly was not presented with. They have yet to even apologize! This place is horrible! Cons: rude management, unlawful business practices more

Great Place to Go!! 2/16/2010

Went to Webster this past friday, and don’t really know what everyone is complaining about…. Very typical NYC in every aspect. Do you ppl go out? Yes there was a line outside, but this is standard. Yes the door ppl were a little short with you, but this is standard. Prices for drinks and coat check were no higher nor lower than EVERY OTHER NIGHT CLUB in the city!!! Personally, I had a good time. It was cool to go from room to room with the different music. Although the space is, what seems to be, never ending with secret stairways, I found my way to a good time in all the rooms and was actually entertained for once by a nightclub. Pros: music, size more

The worst place ever…First time=Last time for me!!! 2/12/2010

I went to this place with some friends and we got a VIP table (We were the only one in VIP…bad service), we were good until one of the security guys took one my friends out because she was getting sleep. I saw them taking her to other place without let us know so I went after them to see what is happening. When I tried to ask them about what the problem is, without any reasons, they throw me out as a trash bag! They pushed me, locked my neck and carried me throwing me out to the street with snow outside. The police showed up and helped me to get my jacket. The worst part is that they knew they did it wrong so they tried to convince me to go inside again!!!!! Unbelievable!!!...Take care of people of the door!!...My legs were scratched with their nails. They are animals. Pros: Zero Cons: Customer service, staff in the door more

IF YOU CARE FOR YOUR SAFETY DON'T GO TO THIS CLUB 1/11/2010

My cousin came up from Georgia to visit NJ for a few weeks. She really wanted to go clubbing in NYC. Since she's only 19 the clubs were limited. Since it was late (1am) we decided to go to Webster Hall because the cover charge was the cheapest out of all the other clubs ($25 compared to $40 at Pacha). Once we paid the entrance, security groped the hell out of us. Besides rigorously checking our purses, they checked the lining of our coats and pockets. After such a thorough "inspection" we were free to go. After just a few hours in the main room, we smelled a foul odor and felt a burning sensation on our skin. A few seconds later my cousin starts screaming uncontrollably that she went blind! We went to the bathroom after realizing we'd just been sprayed with some type of acid and i flushed her eyes out, including my own. After about 10 minutes of rinsing and spitting (because it got in our mouths and noses) i went to the front desk to see a manager and have an ambulance called over. The 2 idiots had the AUDACITY to tell me to go log online and place a complaint on their website. After demanding a manager and EMT, someone finally came and took a look at my cousin who was still screaming from the burning pain in her eyes. As it turns out, the "acid" turned out to be pepper spray. Now... my question is how the hell would anyone be able to get passed security with such a thing? What if it had been a gun or knife? they don't have metal detectors so anyone could easily get passed security if they hide a weapon good enough. Security at this venue needs to do their job correctly because anyone can be seriously hurt or God forbid worse. At the end, we got our money back and were told that we could come back the following week and get in for free but knowing that i'm not safe completely stops me from going there. i know it must have been wrong place and time but this will probably happen again at that whole in the wall.. poor excuse of a club. If you cherish your life, DO NOT COME HERE Pros: NO PROS Cons: NO SUCH THING AS SECURITY OR SERVICE more

Really gone downhill, needs new management! 1/9/2010

Webster Hall was never one of the best clubs in NY but it's gotten progressively worse over the past few years. My friends and I used to frequent the club before we turned 21 because it was one of the few places with a college night. The lines were not too long, the music was good, and there were a ton of options. Since then they've gone under a reconstruction that took far too long and made the lower floor half its normal size for months, they no longer play reggae or Latin music (now there is only a techno and Top 40 room), and they have been attracting the wrong crowd. On one night there is a crude, amateur strip tease on the main floor and on another night there's an open mic for local rappers who bring all sorts of riff raff as fans. I also hear that they scam local artists and promoters, so be careful if doing business with this club. I would probably only return for a concert which I hear is one of the few things they do well. Pros: Free for ladies on Thursday nights Cons: Bad sound system and crowd, extremely crowded more

Worst Venue In The World 11/23/2009

Besides having a shitty sound system, the staff and management at Webster Hall are simply terrible human beings. After my friend got kicked out for drinking without a wristband, I went outside to check on her. I got my hand stamped and they said I could come back in. After trying to come back in they said that I bought the girl the drink, which I didn't and refused to let me back inside. I tried to talk to the manager in which he simply ignored me. Seeing as how the group I was going to see was one of my favorites that haven't played in the US in 4 years, I was beyond disappointed. I don't recommend this venue to anyone. Don't go, but if you must, be sure to watch out for the staff. Pros: None Cons: Staff Are Terrible more

Great place, awesome music 10/17/2009

Just went there this weekend on a friday. The wait on the line wasn't too long and the place inside is pretty nice too. 3 floors of music and so on. Anyway, my only gripe in this place would be that this place seems to attract girls who are just 18, or 19. They all just huddle up and dance within their own group of girlfriends. I dont know if its just beause they've had a bad experience before, or just too young or what. I guess i understand that girls don't need guys to have fun at a club but they should at least dance once in a while with someone else and give guys a chance. Heck, they even turned down some navy guys but w/e. Me and my buddy had fun anyway and stayed all night long. My advice for guys would be to either bring a date with you, or a group of friends which include guys and girls. Good music though, cant complain about that. Pros: Good Music! Cons: Crowd keeps to themselves(girls) more

last new york city dance hall standing 9/13/2009

This New York City legend is a true New York City treasure. No other concert hall/night club exists like it. A place to dance and a place where todays top musical talent must play. Webster Hall has been host to every musical super star and more coming every year. The real deal, with real music history.( birth place of Stereophonic music). First Stereophonic record ever made was made live off the stage in the Grand BallRoom by Henri Mancini in 1953. Come enjoy the space for your self and see why..... IT IS "THE GREATEST PARTY ON EARTH".. Pros: ,sound quality, warmth, location, staff, music, safety Cons: there's only one webster hall more

My Experience VS The Masses 9/8/2009

Here's what I heard Webster Hall Night Club in NYC is great for: Catering, Bars & Pubs, Dance Clubs, Halls & Auditoriums, Banquet Rooms, Nightclubs, Bars & Clubs, Party Planners, Dance Floor, Bar & Club, DJ, After Hours, Specialty Cocktails, 18 & Over, Romantic Nightlife, After Work, Live Music, and Live Bands. It all sounds good, and I heard reports from my reliable sources that they are actually "Great" for all of the above. HOWEVER I CAME TO PARTY!!!! PARTY IS WHAT I GOT!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!!!!! You have to know when to go to be in the in crowd, but oh the lines (which are really not all that bad because the nightclub staff moves them quickly); I firmly recommend going early to grab your space or get familiar with the space. This is the place to party and see shows!!!!!! It's second to none in my book!!!!! Check them out!!!!! Pros: PARTY!!!!!!! Cons: NONE more

Banned To the Isle Of Elba 9/3/2009

I was invited to attend Webster Hall on a Thursday, Never having been there I was excited. That ended after I bought my ticket and gave it to a Napoleonic lilliputian with a bad attitude and even badder breath. I've travelled all over the world and understand security concerns, but out and out hostility towards a paying customer is NOT acceptable. After being yelled at to empty my pockets after not hearing the "Napoleon" security officer (Those are kind words) ,because of the music being played in one of their dance ballrooms, he proceded to yell and threaten me. Why? I don't know I'm still confused! Needless to say I told "Napoleon" to relax which really seemed to tick him off. Guess being a small security guard in a night club has him trying to prove his manhood. Stupid! So if you ever run into this guy say Hi for me! You can't miss him he's all of 5'7" 165lbs soak and wet , Ironically with a crew cut and an air of badass! Oh yeah I don't want to forget the bad breath. He got really close to me!!!! So if your down with rudeness this is the place for you. I left after 20 minutes. Cons: Gestapo Tactics entering the venue more

AWESOME 8/16/2009

List of acts I've seen in the last year here: JUSTICE A-TRAK DESIGNER DRGS LA RIOTS datA Atmosphere Tiga deadmau5 Fischerspooner The list goes on. But I think you get the picture... Pros: Best venue in NYC to see the best DJ's in the world Cons: drawbacks? more

What a disappointment! 4/15/2009

My husband and I went there last night. We got in without a problem. There was only a $5 charge to get in. There was a small crowd of people dancing, for some time. The bar was small. The music wasn't that good. I couldn't bother to go into the dance floor to dance! more

Horrible Management and staff 2/17/2009

So last month a large group of us went to Webster Hall and we purchased our tickets ahead of time only to be denied entrance due to capacity. So I've called NUMEROUS times. I have emailed NUMEROUS people seeing that every time I called no one knew who it was I was trying to contact. The only excuse I kept getting was I'm sorry they get a lot of emails so just try emailing them again. I have not received any type of feed back. The management is horrible and I will never step foot in that club again. more

WHERE THE HELL IS THE LATIN ROOM AT WEBSTER HALL??????????????????????? 2/4/2009

OK, IT IS GREAT TO SEE THE NEW SPECTACULAR APPEARANCE OF WEBSTER HALL. HOWEVER, I PONDER WHY THERE IS NOT A SPANISH FLOOR ANY MORE. I THOUGHT THE AIM OF ANY BUSINESS IS TO MAXIMIZE PROFITS, SO EXCLUDING OR IGNORING OTHERS AVENUES OF INCOME WOULD BE FOOLISH. IF THERE IS A LEGITIMATE OR POLITICAL REASON FOR THE EXCLUSION OF A LATIN FLOOR AT WEBSTER HALL, THEN.... SO BE IT. WHAT I SAW AT WEBSTER HALL WAS TWO EMPTY ROOMS WITH TWO BORING DJ 'S PLAYING THE SAME MUSIC THAT WAS BEING PLAYED IN THE HIP --HOP ROOM AND UPSTAIRS. WHO IS THE MANAGER FOR THIS PLACE? PERHAPS, HE OR SHE SHOULD TAKE A LESSSON IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!! PEACE more
