Best

The best Dim Sum I have had. It was as great as Dim Dum at the Sheraton Towers & Hotel in Hong Kong. The food was fresh and delicious. Wait for an upstairs seat as downstairs look...

Way Too Expensive! I have talked to Chinese people about this place and they avoid this restaurant because of price and also not authentic. I can have good inexpensive Dim Sum in ...

best dim sum in SF! 6/28/2006

Took the wifey and 3 yr old after reading numerous reviews raving about how good this is. Was disappointed and underwhelmed by our experiement. Should have listened to my warning bells when we sat down and realized that the restaurant was clearly not marketing to the Asian demographic. \r \r The Dim Sum was above average but certainly no where close to being the ""best of the city"". It lacks true authenicity due to its leanings toward a more Western palate. \r \r Service was outstanding, as was the ambiance / dining area. The bathroom, though better than average for a chinese restaurant, did not match how nice the rest of the restaurant is. \r \r The restaurant has a premium aire, with premium service, and premium presentation. Unfortunately, it also comes with a PREMIUM price. The 3 of us left hungry after paying $50. \r \r Its a good restaurant to come to if you're looking to impress people who have never had dim sum. But for the experienced, this restaurant is simply an expensive meal for only average food. Pros: Good Service and Ambiance Cons: Very Expensive and very overrated more

Maybe I should have ordered dim sum? 6/4/2006

My brother (visiting) and I went to Ton Kiang on the recommendation of a friend - we went with the friend and her husband. All 4 of us are Asian. Of the 4 dishes we ordered (spare ribs, a claypot, shrimp, mixed vegetables) - only the shrimp dish was edible. How could they have butchered mixed vegetables? I don't know what our friends thought, but they quickly gave my brother and I the left-overs - we finished the shrimp. Now I'm very hesitant to try their dim sum or any other dishes if I ever return. Cons: Parking, Food more

That was some Dim SUM! 4/7/2006

Fun for large group. Make reservation or expect long wait on weekend. Dim sum was delicious!! (and I have had dim sum around the world). Watch out though because it adds up. Not sure if they change selections at a certain time becasue when we left there were trays going aound of things that we were not offered and things we definitely would have ordered! Pros: Dim Sum Cons: pricey more

sorry...but this place is not very good at all... 3/13/2006

The dim sum is just so so... the rice flour used to make the dumplings are way too thick and most dishes are heavy on the oil. The presentaion is sloppy especially later in the day when they need to unload.. Dim sum ""touch the heart"" was original made for the imperial court. Customers should really not ""settle"" for our taste and health. Pros: ??? Cons: not fresh, detail, taste more

Great Hakka and Hong Kong style Chinese 2/20/2006

I've grown up eating chinese food, dim sum or otherwise here in the City with a chef as my guide and my favorite styles are the ones that Tong Kiang serves. I prefer the lighter more delicate flavors and Tong Kiang serves it up better than most places in the city! It may not be as spectacular as it was years ago, but for seafood and dim sum it's still worth it! Because the food is delicately prepared, it doesn't stand up as well for takeout, has to be eaten fresh out of the kitchen. Pros: delicate tastes, good for groups Cons: price, crowded on weekends, takeout not great more

Horrible Take out 1/28/2006

Despite having decent dim sum, the take out from this place is worse than the already average food they serve at the table. They delivered an hour and a half after we ordered, the vegetables were so greasy we left them alone after a few bites, and they forgot to add green onions to a beef dish, despite my telephonic request (twice repeated). Pass this up and order take out from the plethora of much better Chinese places in the city. Pros: take out delivery Cons: horrible take out more

Delicately done and tasty 1/1/2006

Dim sum here is well prepared and tasty. It is delicate which could translate into small helpings for some. The flour wraps and pastries for the fillings are finely wrapped and perfectly cooked. The BBQ pork pastry is very good here. A lot of variety in the Dum sum. Pros: food Cons: crowded more

Can you do better? Yes. 10/20/2005

We didn't dine here, but ordered dim sum take-out for 12 persons. The portions were small compared to other dim sum restaurants. It was costly even tho' we were treated for lunch. The shrimp long noodle was bland, the shrimp (har gow) & shrimp/chive bonnets were average. We had stir-fried sweet pea, potstickers, sui mai - all decent but not fantastic. My favorites were the BBQ pork baked buns and stuffed sticky rice wrapped in ti leaves. Needless to say, I was very thirsty hours after the meal, wondering how much MSG was in the food. We've dined in-house in the past & found service to be slow and inattentive. Pros: decent food Cons: over-priced, parking difficult, service more
