Best

The best Dim Sum I have had. It was as great as Dim Dum at the Sheraton Towers & Hotel in Hong Kong. The food was fresh and delicious. Wait for an upstairs seat as downstairs look...

Way Too Expensive! I have talked to Chinese people about this place and they avoid this restaurant because of price and also not authentic. I can have good inexpensive Dim Sum in ...

average experience 9/4/2007

We made a mistake. We went to Golden River first and loved it. Might be if we didn't, Ton Kiang would do OK in our opinion, but there is no way to like it after you tried next door Golden River restaurant, where mostly chineese people enjoy absolutly wonderful quality authentic dim sum cuisine. The only better thing you'll find in Ton Kiang is an ambiance. If it matters more then food, then this is the place for you. Otherwise go to Golden River and enjoy great food (your choice from the photomenu instead of carts or trays they offer in places like Ton Kiang) and attentive service. BTW, the prices are much better in Golden River and the value you get for these prices too. Pros: ambiance Cons: all of the rest more

Yummy!!!! 11/26/2006

I love having dim sum everytime I visit SF. It is so good and you never wait long for the next delictiable dish. I never wanted before but when I leave there is always a whole load of people waiting outside. The only thing is that it gets quite expensive if you don't watch out. But I always make this part of my trip. Pros: Great Food, Fast Service Cons: Can be pricey more

horriblay!!!! 11/13/2006

This place is too expensive and i have no idea why it is in the top 100, possibly because not a lot of chinese people voted for that list. If they did, it would probably go to one of the more authentic dim sum places in China Town or the Inner Richmond. If you are not chinese and want some really bad dim sum, than by all means, go here, but if you are chinese and grew up on dim sum, I recommend Yet Wah on Clement in the Inner Richmond district. Seriously, don't waste your mulah. Pros: there are none Cons: not authentic more

awesome dim sum, very clean, very crowded, expensive 11/11/2006

I love this place. The dim sum is amazing. The only problem is the wait. On weekends, it takes FOREVER to get a seat. I still think the food is definitely worth it. If you have the time, DEFINITELY check it out. OH and it's pretty expensive for dim sum but you'll see why when you sit down and have some! Pros: DIM SUM Cons: Expensive, long wait more

Avoid! Too Expensive for Dim Sum! 11/9/2006

Way Too Expensive! I have talked to Chinese people about this place and they avoid this restaurant because of price and also not authentic. I can have good inexpensive Dim Sum in either China town or Clement St. The Dim Sum dishes are beautiful but small portion compare to other Dim Sum place. Two adults and Two children and more than $70 bill? No Way! more

Overrated 9/16/2006

For several years I've heard that this place has really good dim sum. I finally ventured in and was extremely disappointed. The food was average, at best, and the portions were small compared to a lot of other dim sum places I've been. To add to the disappointment, the prices were >50% more than other restaurants. I suppose it is a good place to take people who have never had dim sum since they don't bring around intimidating things like tripe or chicken feet. For more ""Westernized"" and vegetarian dim sum I would recommend Yank Sing instead. Pros: Variety Cons: Parking, Expensive more

The best dim sum 8/26/2006

Very good dim sum - in the middle of the day or for dinner. Better variety at lunchtime - good place for large families / groups. High quality ingredients compared to alot of other dim sum places.\r A little more expensive but worth it. Take someone who has never had dim sum here - their picture menu makes ordering easy and 'hong kong style' is most palatable for western palettes. Pros: Presentation, Quality, Big Tables Cons: Parking, Lighting, Occasional bad service. more

Overrated dim sum restaurant 8/10/2006

Michael Bauer says this is the best dim sum in San Francisco? Perhaps he needs to take another trip out to Ton Kiang. While we are far from dim sum experts, I feel certain we would have been better served by staying in Chinatown for our dim sum meal. It was not worth the long drive or the wait. Cons: a dim sum palace that is living off its overrated reputation more

Favorite in SF 8/10/2006

I simply love this restaurant. The dim sum is the best and the evening fare is excellent as well. The place is great for large parties and reasonably priced. I say, ""check it out."" Pros: Best in SF Cons: Long wait during dining hours and hard to find parking in the Avenues more
