The moment i walked in here i felt like i was back in college, beer pong going on, pitchers of beer and frat guys everywhere. The place was packed with cuties and i would say the ...

I wanted to love the place. Oh how I wanted to love it. I tried so hard, giving this place so many second chances, but at the end of the day, it came up short. Really great lay...

i so agree with the last posting! 1/21/2008

the food and the service were great upon opening. i was there a couple of weeks ago, and the attitude was terrible. staff acted like they hated management, and for good reason, there was a big dumb looking manager type yelling at one of the red pant suit wearing waitresses. Cons: recent changes more

Cool Bar Succumbs to Hollywood 1/21/2008

Since the majority of reviews were written in October, let me give you a update of where this seemingly ?local sports bar? has now become. Upon it?s opening, I was thrilled there was finally an actual sports bar in Hollywood. Still an Acapulco, but at least there?s TVs. The management and waitstaff WAS attentive and seemed extremely concerned about keeping the customer happy. I have been their numerous times, due to the great location and food. However, upon going there during a busy NFL Sunday, I guess they forgot about their locals and now it's the typical Hollywood bar. Guys with tight shirts and ear pieces acting like ?tough guys? to the customers. Allowing 80% of their tables to be ?reserved? leaving basically seats at the bar as the only option unless you are rolling in with a group of 20 meatheads?who I guess they prefer as their customers. They allowed people to cut in front of us to be seated and then after the hostess had told us to grab a table in the bar, here comes the tight wearing ear piece man to toss us from the table to give it to a bigger group. Then walking away basically telling me to f-off when I argued ? this was the same guy who talked to us for 10 minutes when the bar first opened introducing himself and telling us to ?let us know if there is anything he can do, because they want to keep their local customers happy?. more

Fun, Loud, Great food 1/17/2008

So I live just a couple blocks from this place and used to come here when it was the Acapulco. After seeing the marquee stating ""genuine New York pizza"" I had to find out if it was true. A former NYCer myself, I had to do the taste test. It was a Saturday night and the place was hopping. It was a mostly younger crowd and the flat screen TVs were showing some reality show on MTV. Aside from it being noisy (yeah, I'm old) I LOVED the food! The pizza was thin crust - as it should be - and the marinara sauce is superb. The toppings are great. I actually found a place that puts fresh spinach on pizza in L.A.! I'm definitely going back to try other items on the menu, if the pizza is any indication I'm sure it's all great. Not too pricey and the music was great. We'll probably go on a week night and see if the noise level isn't too crazy. I know bars are noisy, I just hate having to shout to my dining partner! Otherwise, this place gets my vote! Pros: Great food, genuine NY style pizza Cons: Loud crowd, at least on a Saturday night more

A new place for you to try 1/15/2008

Checked it out a few Saturdays ago. always looking for a good sports bar. Met several of the owners. Nice guys. Pros: nice space, good staff Cons: a bit too pricey more

always nice to read the good reviews!!! BUT...... 12/17/2007

chef matthew gladstone here... and i appreciate everything that y'all wrote!! Pros: my food Cons: not my food! more

Great food / great bar!! 11/27/2007

Don't let the exterior fool you. Looks like the money spent on this place was where it counted. Pros: Parking Food service Cons: None that I could tell more

Great Food, Roulette Prices and COREY-OKIE (a kareoke band!) 11/20/2007

Last month, we couldn't get in to Metal School. Well. I wouldn't pay that much money to see them. So we stopped at this place for drinks and food. My girlfriend and her friend had the pizza and I had some wings. They have a big roulette wheel which was hot because the drinks were really cheap for an hour or so. Pros: good food and cute waitresses. Cons: pay for parking. sorta loud if you stay where the band is. more

NYC comes to LA LA LAND! It's about time! 11/10/2007

The Happy Ending Bar and Restaurant is a REFRESHING change! Ever have a night where you just couldn't stomach the prententious club scene?? Where you didn't want to get all decked out, to wait in a line for an hour just to get into the newest ""Hot Spot"" that looks like all the rest? Over-priced drinks, over-sexed people, and over-played music. Some of us have had enough!! The Happy Ending Bar & Restaurant is a kick back place where you can show up on a whim, get in right away and have a blast with great people. It's the Cheers of Los Angeles, go a few times and pretty soon ""everybody knows your name"". They have really outdone themselves with their food, the atmosphere is fun and relaxed and they have great drink specials all night long. The two Managers Sal and Mario bring the ""east coast flavor"" this side of the country desperately needs. Hollywood Wannabees need not apply, this is a place for down to earth, real people who want to have fun. Definitely a Happy Ending for all who go there!!! Pros: People, parking, food, service Cons: You have to leave sometime... more

is it a bar? is it a restaurant? 11/6/2007

the bar was cool and semi mellow, however, if you arent a sports bar, why is every TV on sports? more

The much needed bar atmosphere in Hollywood... 10/22/2007

Well, I used to complain that there were too few ""real bars"" in Hollywood and too many clubs. Love to go to the clubs now and then but still want a watering hole where you can go in jeans and a t-shirt, throw back some beers and cocktails and listen to some solid tunes amongst a great crowd. Well, Happy Ending satisfied that wish list and I'll be back there plenty in the future. Thanks to ""Mario"" and ""Sal"" for taking care of my friend's b-day 30th bday party...hell of a time and she won't soon forget it (assuming she remembered it the following morning)!! Pros: Great looking crowd, great staff and management, good music, tons of parking Cons: Beer prices are on par with other bar establishments but can't be perfect more

best new bar in Hollywood 10/13/2007

Any negative review is the most ridiculous and uniformed group of words i have ever come across! Obviously this writer hates a good time and creates colorful comments because he/she has nothing significant to say. Anyone who comes in this establishment will soon realize what a phoney and pretentious idiot this fun-hating ""reviewer"" is. If you don't realize that The Happy Ending is the most amazing and enthusiastic bar Hollywood has seen, then you deserve to suffer through the lines and bullsh*t at Le Deux. This bar is exactly what Hollywood lacks and needs. Pros: parking, food, service, specials, more

i guess we ""get it"" more than the other writers!! 10/7/2007

my husband and i wanted a place we coujld go to a few times a week... more

Off to a good start 10/7/2007

I tried this place today after some debate with a friend. It's got a feel that reminds me a bit of old Dublin's. While it will be awhile before they really get going I think, but the food was enjoyable, the service was prompt, the waitresses were friendly. The manager spoke with us several times, making sure we were happy and everything was satisfactory. Pros: Good location, old school atmosphere, fun waitresses Cons: Needs some overall work, still a bit like Acapulco. more

Still an Acapulco 10/6/2007

We heard that there was a bar opening in Hollywood, so a few of s decided to see if we could get in. At 11:00 on opening night, we walked right in to see a ""converted"" Acapulco restaurant, which still looks just like a family Mexican restaurant. The music was good, the crowd was 90% male, the servers were attractive, and the bouncers were bored and over-zealous (everywhere we stood was unsafe, according to them). Worth tryng again in a few weeks, but not even close to what we thought it should be. Note to the designer: exposed brick...no. Pros: Close to my apartment Cons: ambience more

sad ending 10/3/2007

I went to Happy Ending for lunch with co-workers. I knew they had just opened so I wasn?t expecting perfect service. However the service completely sucked. We weren?t given silverware or straws, they took forever to take our order, and the food took so long. SO LONG that my friend?s ahi (raw) tuna burger arrived 25 minuets after the first 1/3 of us were served. Items were forgotten and came out different that were written on the menu. Most of us have worked in the service industry, so we weren?t quick to complain. However when the manager came over to shake our hands (?) there was no mention of comping a single thing even though we ordered a $12 dessert and the entire dining experience took 2+ hours! There was also someone testing out how loud the music would play in the dining room while we were eating. more
