Best

The moment i walked in here i felt like i was back in college, beer pong going on, pitchers of beer and frat guys everywhere. The place was packed with cuties and i would say the ...

Worst

I wanted to love the place. Oh how I wanted to love it. I tried so hard, giving this place so many second chances, but at the end of the day, it came up short. Really great lay...

Two words: COREY-OKE! 1/21/2009

Every Weds. night, ""Corey-oke"" plays here -- Corey Hamm, Corey Feldstein & Corey Hardt play live bass, drums and guitar, inviting anyone brave enough to join them on vocals for your favorite 80's song. The bartenders and waitresses here are overworked yet friendly -- they'll keep visiting your table even if it's packed, and they'll even provide your group with seperate checks upon request. The appetizers are good but pricey. Ever so often, the bartender spins a giant wheel to determine the next drink special. Several beer pong tables are available in a back room. The crowd ranges from eastside hipster to westside frat-boy and everything in between. I've seen Mila Kunis, Japanese girls, WeHo pretty boys, and what appeared to be a pack of Camp Pendleton jarheads on leave! S'all good -- come on by and take it all in! Pros: COREY-OKE! Friendly staff. Stiff drinks. Cons: Crowded, loud, pricey appetizers, hard to get a table if you arrive late more

You Will Be Physically Picked Up and Thrown Out 1/13/2009

So I went to this place this past weekend. While I was there I admittedly got tipsy, but at no time engaged in any lewd behavior, made no snide comments to anyone, didn't get ""loud"" or anything; I kept to myself and my friends. While I was on the phone, I was ambushed from behind by to bouncers. They literally picked me up while I was still on phone and started rushing me to the back of the bar. When I asked, ""What is going on?"" they replied, ""Shut the f*** up, you f***ing fa**ot."" They then opened the back doors and TOSSED me into the street. Pros: I was able to buy a drink. Cons: The staff was prejudice, disrespectful, and absolutely demeaning. more

GREAT PLACE!!! 1/6/2009

What A great bar! Pros: Everything more

Karaoke Snobs 12/1/2008

This review is for Monday nights and the karaoke snobs. The blonde (brunette really, saw the roots girly) who ""hosts"" the night is a stuck up fiend. Her and her friends stroke each other's bruised Hollywood egos by singing (yowling) hits from yesteryear. This karaoke ""hostess"" cut my song off halfway through, on purpose, because she wanted more time for her posse, who already sang five times each. Zero respect. High School mentality. I truly hope she falls down the stairs in her pleather boots. If the Happy Endings management catches wind of this review, just know you can do way better. I should have snatched my five bucks out of her tip jar. It went to a poor dye job anyway. Pros: writing this review Cons: the staff is stuck in high school more

Worst Poser Sports Bar in L.A. 10/26/2008

The Happy Ending stinks like an dead trout in an unplugged freezer. Where do I start? Let's start with sports bars. Don't you hate sports bars that know nothing about sports but just have a lot of TVs? That's what this is and the TVs are so g%dd#m loud you'd think you walked into black metal gig at the Knitting Factory. Ridiculous. Note to manager - audio means little in sports, but good conversation over beers and a ball game means a lot. Pros: good tap, decent food Cons: too loud, not a real sports bar, no need for more NY stuff here more

Not so Happy Ending at The Happy Ending 10/6/2008

I was really excited when this place opened, as I live in walking distance. However, every experience here has been the same and I don't know why I go back. First of all, even for a sports bar it is unbearably LOUD. My boyfriend and I were trying to have dinner and the drunk college-age (at least they acted that age) were unbelievably annoying, one girl even screamed at the top of her lungs. I love the food there, everything I've gotten I've been happy with. However, this same thing has happened every time I've been there...the main meals come out about 3 minutes after the appetizer. This past visit was even more ridiculous. We ordered 2 appetizers (the onion rings and the ""fish and chips"" which were both great) and purposely ordered our meals about 25 minutes later. We weren't in a rush and we had hoped the appetizers would be put in right when we ordered them. Well, as soon as we got our appetizers, our meals came out (literally 2 minutes apart). Our server didn't drop the food, it was a food runner, otherwise I would've said something about it. I wonder if the servers are trained that way? Shame on me for not specifying we actually want our appetizers FIRST. Makes me question the intelligence of the servers. The only other thing that really bothers me about this place is that they have lobsters in a tank where if you order it and can catch one in the crane (like you get stuffed animals or toys after putting quarters in) you don't have to pay for it. I think that is horribly cruel. It's not a game. So basically the only plus to this place is the food, the portions are HUGE, and that may be enough for some people to return. I like the whole experience of dining out so for me, good food isn't enough. Pros: Good Food, Huge Portions Cons: LOUD, obnoxious clientele, servers more

F*CK HAPPY ENDING 8/24/2008

Happy Ending ruined my birthday.... don't get me wrong...my waitress was nice... security was cool as in they tried and talk to me and explain stuff... but whoever didn't want asians there wanted to kick me and my party out! perhaps the owner or this blond chick with short hair at the front tried to kick us out. ... Here's the situation. It was my birthday yesterday, I reserved a table for 10 @8pm, but I originally was going to reserve a table for 25 people @ 830pm but apparently Eddie there event coordinator didn't want to call me back and confirm, so they booked parties already and I couldn't reserve a big party anymore. Mind you I was calling and calling trying to reserve for a week already. Ok that's fine. So we get there eat whatever. Then as the night goes on they try to move us to a different table. As we were still ordering drinks and sitting there. They could have had other people move or I swear a booth across from us the same size was not occupied, but they decided to say that this specific table was already reserved @ 10pm.... seriously.. That's fine, we settled it. THE LAST THING THEY WANNA DO TO ME ON MY BIRTHDAY was to turn a bunch of my friends away @ the door saying that there was to much people @ my table??? what the DUCK? 6 of my guests originally there left already, and people that were waiting in line were getting in, but just cuz it was my table ""reserved for 10"" they didn't let any of my friends in the whole night! I freaking called before hand to making sure that this wouldn't happen and they said anybody could get it, your friends won't get turned away. WOW! HAPPY ENDING IS MUCKING AMAZING. Pros: food and drinks really good Cons: They hated me on my birthday more

good drinks and appetitzers and GREAT corey-oke band 6/14/2008

very cool place!! ive been here a handful of times. everytime has been pretty good!! they have AWESOME happy hr clams!! (yummmmy to die for ...for me anyway) once i had 3 plates of them they were THAT GOOD!! the fishbowls were pretty good too!! esp the blue one. the pina colada was good too. my friends liked the appetitizer dip sampler and the spinach artichoke dip per another friend said it was ""DELICIOUS!"" and EVERYONE LOVED the fishbowls, but they were kinda pricey and the whole nite could get really expensive lol heheh.. but it is sure funny to go get hammered and watch ""corey-oke"" and be funny etc!! overall it is good times had by all!! Pros: bartenders (cute) and waitresses are funny and nice Cons: parking not much either street parking or valet (who wants to valet if they dont have to?) more

decent food, but there are better options in Hollywood. 4/14/2008

I've tried this place about half a dozen times. The first time was a huge party with about 50 people. They gave us the entire restaurant side for beer pong, as well as drink specials. They've been falling over themselves to get our business back. However, whenever I go with a group of less than 20 people, the service is really spotty. I was there with a friend on Friday night, and the service was ok, but since the DJ goes on at 10 they were also busy clearing the tables off the floor while we were still eating dinner. I went for a friend's birthday once when we had 10 people and we literally had to hunt down our server on several occasions just to get her to refill our water or take more drink orders - and we were ordering plenty of food as well. While the food is certainly interesting and pretty decent for the most part, it's pricier than most sports bars. $8 margarita? $5 Stella? They're both much cheaper at Big Wangs, which also has spotty service, but I never feel cheated by the amount I spend. Pros: interesting menu - potato skins and banana cheesecake bonuelos are a must Cons: loud, pricey, bad service more

Over rated 4/5/2008

I've only had the grilled cheese and it's pretty good. They serve it with a creamy tomato soup which is good for dipping. They have $8 well drink margaritas. On Tuesdays, there's a cover band that plays. They're pretty good. Pros: no cover, friendly people, cool bartenders, attractive people Cons: music more

BEst BAr EVer 3/30/2008

Not only is this bar a blast to be at, it has the world's coolest bar staff. The mix of upbeat girls and super sweet guys makes you want to be around the bar even if you aren't ording a drink! Pros: bartenders Cons: nn/a more

Good place for UFC lovers 3/27/2008

I watch the UFC there every month. It's free there, unlike El Guapo on Melrose that charges an admission. The menu is pretty good considering it is a sports bar. I personally recomend the little corndogs. Prices are average and the interior decor is pretty average. But what can one expect of a modified Alcapulco restaurant. Pros: food Cons: ambience more

disgusting 3/25/2008

This place is a nightmare. I went in on a busy Saturday night and everyone in there had gotten so drunk that everyone might as well have been drooling on themselves. I'm fairly certain I actually heard one of the managers call a waitress a ""wh***."" Then I tried to escape the bar atmosphere and enjoy my drink in a quieter part of the restaurant. Unfortunately I was interrupted by a girl throwing up in a trashcan not 6 feet from me. I've actually never written a review on citysearch before, but I was so grossed out by this bar that I felt the need to share. Pros: anyone can go Cons: anyone can go more

This place is perfect for me & crew!!! 3/12/2008

I've been wanting a place in Hollywood where I can go and get good food, fun atmoshpere & a cold beer. I think i have found my place...The Happy Ending. I get it...sometimes you are not going to get perfect service or everything to be 100%, but the overall experience with all of the TV's and the cool music and crowd is more than enough to keep coming back...it beats standing in line at some wannabe club in Hollywood. Oh...the food is the real deal. My favorite was the pizza. Awesome!!! Pros: The food and fun atmosphere...Drink wheel was cool! Cons: They don't spin the drink wheel every 20 mins more

My new favorite bar!!! 3/12/2008

I've been hearing about this place since it opened. All my friends go there when they get off work. I went on a friday night and the place was PACKED! It had a great crowd, good music and the pizza was the best I've had in L.A. I thought it would take forever to get a drink considering how many people were in there, but they had like 8 guys behind the bar waiting to take orders. I even ordered a blue drink in a fishbowl! Alphonso Ribero and Joey Fatone were there having dinner so that was kind of cool. The bathroom was kind of small for such a big place and I would have liked the dj to play more hip hop but that's really not their thing. It was a lot of 80's and fun cheesy music which everyone else seemed to love. Anyway, I liked this bar so much I went back to watch a college basketball game the next week. It was definitely more mellow but the food, service, drinks and prices were all great. It's got a very cool New York vibe. I definitely reccommend The Happy Ending! Pros: Great bar food, parking , service Cons: Gets too crowded on weekends more

Awesome Sunday night music 3/12/2008

I have been to happy ending a few times and I have enjoyed it, it's a fun place. But I went on Sunday night and they had these awesome guys playing acoustic guitar and they rocked it! I guess they are there every Sunday from 8-10 and I will definetely be back to see them. When we first got there it was like any other bar, but when they started playing the whole place was going crazy, cheering, dancing, etc. They definetely added a great vibe to the place and I will be sure to be back on Sunday nights!!!!!! Pros: Frank & Todd on Sunday nights, Beer pong, and flip cup more

This could be an issue! 2/25/2008

It seems that the staff, has to go online and then defend there awful working habbits.Lets be honest here! You cant just hire a bunch of hot chicks who dont have the proper training and experience and a manager who obviously has no clue about the hospitality business, and then think that the place is going to be a sucsess. This place has one of the best menus for a sports bar that I have seen on the west coast hands down.Yet its run by a bunch of donkeys and a management staff that in all fairness,is about as knowledgeable as Hellen Keller in a spelling bee!HEY OWNERS! NOTE TO SELF!Any body can pull a profit with a liquor liscense on Sunset. But these idiots are ruining your business and losing alot of potential money that could be made. READ the comments and reviews that are being written.I wouldnt be surprised if the place gets shut down for a health issue behind the bar,or even sexual harassnment!Get rid of these morons that want to ""PLAY"" manager and rehire a good waitstaff and bar staff so that the front of the house wont ruin a good thing!I have been to this place 3 times and every time there is an issue with the bar or waitress!THATS NOT EAST COAST!I shouldnt have to eat my food at the bar next to dirty plates that were left for about 40 minutes while this clueless bartender talked to her friend the whole time!I shouldnt have to wait 20 minutes to be greeted by my waitress and then have the donkey disapear the rest of the time and I cant even get another beer!If i want a hot chick to service me,I will get a lap dance at an upscale strip club. When i walk into a sports bar,I usualy want chicken wings and a Stella, but that takes too long at""The Happy Ending"".I dont think that this place has a chance to stick around for more than another year unless they act quickly and remove the cancer of a manager who couldn't run a hot dog cart in front of Shea stadium.Good management, will bring good employess, that will spawn Happy Guest for a real ""HAPPY ENDING"".DO SOMETHING! Pros: food, t.v.'s Cons: management, service more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! HORRIBLE 2/6/2008

As a former bar manager maybe I am a little tougher than most but this place is honestly the worst bar I have been to in Hollywood - and that is saying a lot. more

hearing one thing and saying another... 2/5/2008

In response to the last review, I would like to add my two cents. I was actually in the booth next to the people who wrote the last review and overheard the conversation that took place between the manager and the customers. I specifically heard the manager not only apologize and buy them a round of drinks, but ask the customers what he could do to bring them back for another try. The response, If I recall correctly, was something along the lines of ""there is nothing you can offer us, and were never coming back."" To this the manager apologized again to no response. I agree that our service could have been better, but I am a regular customer and this place usually never dissapoints. The cozy atmosphere, nightly specials and great entertainment have kept me coming back since this place opened last September. I highly reccomend The Happy Ending to anyone who enjoys a great time and good food, which apparantly the people who wrote the last review do not. more

Bad customer service, cold food, average food 2/5/2008

We tried the Happy Ending as part of LA Restaurant week. The fish tacos were cold the first time they came out and tasty after we sent them back. The Kobe Beef Burger was overcooked and tasted like something you would get at Burger King. As was the eggplant parmesan sandwich, flavorless and chewy. The banana cheesecake dessert was great, but given all the other factors not worth coming back for. Pros: Banana Cheesecake Cons: Clueless Wait-staff, below average food more
