I boarded my pets there for about two weeks. They are very.active dogs ..I didn't get them groomed (should have) they had their own indoor outdoor run. Other places just have cages...At check out they cleaned them up I didn't expect them to come out sparkling but they were clean and happy....I went home happy. Will board there again.. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 4/14/2016

This is my original review:\r You would absolutely think your dogs were in good hands. My husband witnessed a 9 year employee kicking a non-agressive, not misbehaving dog first thing in the morning. Mortified he asked what the hell he was doing. The response he got was that ""sometimes you have to take charge."" NO ... this dog wasn't jumping, biting, acting out ... there is NEVER a time you should kick a dog in the head. I will NEVER take my dogs there again, and if you are a true animal lover who treats your dog like family, you won't either. So so disappointing. (I only select 1 because you have to select something ... In reality ... - 100).\r \r This is Caryl's reply:\r 4/13/2016 Jeanne, after years of devout dedication to animal care, it's incredibly jarring to know that someone would make these false accusations against our resort. Every single member of our staff is passionate about the well-being of our dogs, and we do everything we can to foster a welcoming environment for these pups. One thing that stands out to me in this review is that you mention the tenure of our employee -- if that person didn't absolutely love animals, they would not be in this industry for 9 years. Just to reaffirm this and to ensure the safety of our animals, we've reviewed all of our surveillance videos and the only thing we saw was proper, loving care for our guests.\r We care for animals because they are our everything, and we want to give them the pampering they deserve. If you spoke with any of our employees, you would understand that. What you've described is unthinkable for our resort, and I truly hope that you and your husband will reconsider claiming such falsehoods.\r \r This is my updated review in response:\r 4/14/16 - Maybe you believe the way you run things ""proper and loving"" but I -- as a consumer and lover of animals large and small -- would not entrust a pet to your care based on what my husband witnessed. Your employee made it a point to tell my husband how long he'd been there and stated ""sometimes you just have to take charge"". Any animal lover would expect a tenured staff at an animal facility of any kind to be professional and loving to their pets - not kicking, forcefully pushing, and spraying water on dog to get them thru a hole. It is not an accusation, it is an experience - and one that you have chosen to respond to in the same manner of every other bad review given ... it's us, not you.\r I invite you to provide the surveillance video that shows my husband ""simply being startled by a dog jumping on a fence & dog barking"" (as you told me via phone was the reason my husband was upset).\r With so many BAD reviews over so many forums, I find it absurd that you find ""what (i've) described is unthinkable for (y)our resort"". more

Rob Cary Pet Resort is one of the worst places I have ever been in. The staff there are so rude. I dealt with the asst. manager or manager not quite sure what she was, but she was in a bad mood and didn't really want to help me. I felt she was not listening to what I was saying and discarded it and felt she knew my pets better than I did. Beware I would not board my pets here, there are a lot nicer places than this in our fair city. more

RP 4/24/2012

This past weekend was Domino's (Domino III) second stay at RC'S in the last 60 days. He has been treated with the utmost of care, just as the previous 2 Dalmations in our family. I call and request an update, and receive one without hesitation or an attitude. I and as well as several of my friends do not hesitate to recommend RC. Been a client since the doors opened. My friends have boarded their Rots, Pits, Shepards, and Aus Cattle dogs there as well... and continue to return. It's like puppy heaven. I've read all the reviews, My only wish would be to extend the check out time on pick up day. However, that being said all the charges are made clear up front. To those who have posted complaints, I find it hard to believe they failed to make it right. more

Dog Training Classes 4/2/2012

What a great experience we had working with Rob Cary's dog trainers on obedience and basic training for our lab. Fun time, well run class, organized and we were delighted in how much Rob Cary's staff cared about our lab and the other dogs. The staff was encouraging to us and our dog. We took the class wanting to correct some habits our lab had learned rom us, thinking we knew what to do. Not only did our lab excel with the right kind of training and pass with flying colors, we learned so much ourselves. Thank you to the Rob Cary staff from E Jason. Pros: null Cons: null more

Rob Cary knows Pets! 2/4/2012

I can't say enough good things about Rob Cary. I don't know what I would do without them. For several years they have boarded and groomed my pet pomeranian. He is my pride and joy and I demand the very best for him. I wouldn't leave him with anyone else. They are incredible! more

Dogs have no Fear of Rob Cary! 1/2/2012

Since 2008, I have used Rob Cary to board my two 65lb-female mixed breeds at least 3-4 times annually. I have no family in the area, and my friends do not allow inside pets. On no occasion, have I experienced some of the issues the 'bad reviews' have listed. The last time I used the facility was Dec 2011 for a period of 8 days. When I brought them, the younger female almost took my arm out of it's socket to get into the door-an obvious 'good' reaction. They have no fear of any of the employees or the facility. I do, however, agree with some of the reviews that state that employees behind the counter do appear to be annoyed at times and they need to have a designated person to man the phones. I have at times stepped back and waited while phones are answered. I do understand that this can be a very busy facility, but so far, this is my only complaint. more

Misrepresentation on pricing. 7/6/2011

Each time I go to Rob Cary I leave with high blood pressure and I ask myself "Why did I go back?" I thought it is so close to my house, I would try it again. I have learned my lesson. This time I went to have my dog shaved down for the summer. Of course, they had a problem with the shot records for the dog. My vet gives a yearly bordetello shot, but of course, they want one that is given every 6 months. You know, they must know more than my vet, because they board and groom dogs. I am sure they went to school school for that. I called the week before to make an appointment for grooming. I told them my dog was an australian shepherd mix. He weighs 50 lbs. I was told it would cost $30 to $50 for a bath, nail clipping and shave down. When I went to get my dog, it was $70.00. I asked why the difference and they said don't give quotes especially on a mixed dog. To top it all off, I asked them to leave the tail and the hair around his upper neck alone as I wanted it to look like more

Probably saved our dog's life! 5/5/2011

We have used Rob Cary Pet Resort to board, train and groom our pets for many years. Recently, we took our two German Shepherd mixes in for grooming. While grooming the male, the groomer noted a mass in the abdominal area. When we picked up our dogs we were advised of this and immediately took him to our vet. Our vet found two more masses. After a cytology study we were advised the cells in the largest mass were abnormal. Our dog had surgery to remove all three tumors and is doing very well. Thanks to the groomer, Christin, and the staff at Rob Cary Pet Resort! Job well done! We recommend these folks to those who want their animals to get the best! more

BEWARE!!! 4/16/2011

Pet training was no problem because we were with our dogs the whole time.\r \r We boarded our dogs for almost three weeks and were fined an extra day because we arrived 10 minutes (not exaggerating) late. The owner was in a bad mood and actually yelled and treated us as though we were the enemy. One would expect better treatment when their bill totaled over $550 before the fine. When our dogs (both large) were brought out, one had a fully dislocated hip. The owner denied everything and said no one noticed he could not use his leg. The vet said it takes the force equivalent to being hit by a car to accomplish this. Our dog (otherwise healthy) has to live out the rest of his life crippled from this abuse. Our other dog was curiously cowed down and is now intimidated by strangers. We have since heard similar complaints by other former customers. more

Very Disappointed 3/30/2011

I was somewhat surprised because I had been to Rob Cary years ago and the staff was very friendly and acted as if my pooch was the only dog in the room. However, when I recently took my dog in for grooming, I was very disappointed. I was greeted by silence by four people that were behind the desk (one on the phone and the other three chatting amongst themselves. After approximately 3 minutes, they finally asked why I was there (no smile, no enthusiasm...nothing. As if I should be grateful they were helping me!!) and immediately came and took my dog away, didn't say anything to her or me, just led her away. I stood there a little dumbfounded, registered her and while walking out the door, I thought I should turn around and go get her. My bad. I dropped her off at 8:35 am (I called two times betwen 1:00 and 2:30 to find out the status) and wasn't called until 3:10 to come pick her up. All she needed was a bath and trim. To the owner/manager - I'm sorry but if you are in the "pet friendly" business, then YOU NEED TO BE FRIENDLY!! You need to treat your customers as if their dog is the prettiest, cutest, etc. dog you've ever seen. It's not rocket science. Maybe you should get rid of the teenagers and hire a more mature, competent staff that loves to be around animals and people. Just a suggestion. more
