Taking Care of a Member of the Family 10/19/2008

I have taken my American Eskimo Toy to this facility since she was a puppy (she is now 8). We went through puppy training there and she has been boarded on several occasions. Tammi and Roy, the manager and kennel manager, make sure that she receives excellent care! I have read the negative reviews and have to disagree with them. Will your dog like it here, maybe not, but that is not the fault of the facility. Our dog has a VERY strong attachment to the family and would not like it anywhere we left her! We also go the expense to have her in the luxury suites-TV, nice bedding, lots of attention. So remember as you go off on your vacation to get the best you can afford for your pet also. I would feel guilty getting on a cruise ship not having arranged for the best care for her. This friend was the one that was there for me as I was going through Chemo treatments and I will never forget that. And one last thing, after you have had your great vacation and tipped everyone that brought you a drink or fluffed your pillow remember that the people that work here took care of one of your very best "friends". more

I left for a friends weekend rather abruptly, they were very accommodating, and friendly. When I got back my cat was groomed and in perfect health. The establishment is clean and very organized. A++++++ more

Kitty & Owner Heaven 8/1/2008

In June I left my cat Tiger (I know how original) in the hands of Tammi the General Manager of Robcary Pet Resort. The take in exam, explanation of what to expect, and the care they used in handling Tiger was better than my vet ever did. Tiger came home clean and healthy. Thank You Robcary for your wonderful care of my pet! Pros: Great Price more

Bad customer service 7/24/2008

Recently I boarded my pets at this terrible place know as Rob Cary. Normally my wife and I almost never leave town and when we do our pets stay with my brother in law. However he had been informed he had a terminal form of cancer. To help ease him through out this situation my wife and I treated him and his wife to a vacation to Florida. I had asked my vet about boarding facilities due to our situation and he suggested Rob Cary. When I arrived at this place it smelt terrible, almost along the lines of the bottom of an outhouse. I was willing to overlook this considering this was in fact a kennel and they do tend to smell of feces. After walking through the doors I stood infront of their counter for a good five minutes without so much as a hello. Now this may not sound bad, but taken I was the only customer in the room. Both of my pets were excited so I was using all my strength to control them while waiting for an acknowledgement. There were only two ladies working the front at the time, one of them was asisting a customer on the phone and the other was playing with a dog she had behind the counter. I cleared my throat in a very apparent way to try to attract her attention but it was all in vain. After a few more moments went by I was fed up and walked foward. She still ignored me, putting some little toy dog ahead of me. After she had made sure the pet was comfortable, the woman by the name of "Tammi" finally lifted her head to greet me. I tired to overlook her poor customer service skills but the events that follow make it difficult. I had filled out all the paperwork they had mailed to me but when I handed them to her she claimed they were all out of order. She talked down to me like I was a child and even insulted my intelligence a few times. The only good thing I can say about this place is that the pet care staff was polite and seemed to honestly care for my pets. However with people like this up front I find it hard to see how they get buisness. more

NEVER NEVER NEVER 7/10/2008

I wish I would have read all of the horrible reviews prior to me sending my pet in there for boarding. I had my pet there for three days. When I went to pick up my pet, he was shaking, wet and looked like he was beaten half way to hell and back. I am usually a very passive person who never gets into any type of fight, but I was furious. I asked why the dog was wet and shaking. The EXACT reply, 'I dunno. Why is your pet shaking and wet. It wasn;t me. Go ask someone else.' I give you all my word that I am not lying or exaggerating. The help is the worst I have ever seen. The person who claims their dog ate something toxic there, I whole heartedly believe. The person who said they brought out the wrong dog, I believe them. The management is terrible. I went to take my dog to the vet after this experience and was told the dog was severly dehydrated. The vet told me it appears that my pet had not had any fluids for about THREE DAYS. If I was a lesser person, i would give in to my anger and pummel the hell out of the manager. Please folks.....please reconsider taking your pet here. The staff is TERRIBLE. I would never set out to hurt another persons' reputation or hurt the potential of a paycheck to anyone, but this has to be told. I am going to the attorney general and appropriate agencies after I write this. I will never take my pet there ever again. Again, the staff is TERRIBLE and they ABUSE ANIMALS. No joke. No exaggeration. I feel very sorry I even had to write this. Pros: They aren;t terrorists Cons: They have been caught abusing animals repeatedly more

NEVER take your dogs here 4/29/2008

We used to take our dogs there, but after the problems we had, we'll never go back (many vets in San Antonio do NOT recommend this place). First, on one occasion, the BROUGHT US THE WRONG DOG. Granted, they were the same breed (cavalier king charles spaniel), but at the least this dump should have known whose dog was whose. Second, on the next occasion, our dog was VIOLENTLY ill when we picked her up (having never had a health problem in her two years of existence). After taking her to the vet (who ran bloodwork), we were advised that she had consumed some sort of toxic chemical substance(her liver was functioning abnormally). After calling Rob Cary Pet Torture to ask what possibly could have the dog been exposed to, we were rebuffed (the vet stated unequivically that the toxic substance was recently consumed in the past few days, and since we had not had the dog home yet, the only place it could have happened was Rob Cary Pet Torture). We were outraged, and called four times to speak to someone. When someone finally called back, they advised us that the toxic substance consumption likely happened somewhere else (where? in the dog crate on the way out??). We requested they pay our expensive vet bill, which they refused. Fortunately, our dog made a full recovery. No thanks Rob Cary. NEVER TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE. Pros: they pay taxes in the community, which supports some other worthwhile business Cons: they allow your animals to consume toxic substances, then blame the customer more

Service has Declined 1/5/2008

Used to use this kennel. The last time I went, the lady at the front desk argued with me over their vaccination requirement. She said my cat needed a Bordatella vaccine. I pointed out she was using the canine requirements. She got quite huffy and after a converstation with my vets office, he was "allowed" to stay. When I went to pick him up, his carrier was gone. They grabbed one out of their carrier storage and said "Just take this one". It was someone else's carrier and it was not the same kind. When I asked for his toys, they had to retrieve them from another cat's cage. It is sad to see such a decline in service. Pros: Near the airport Cons: Poor Service more

What happened to great management ? 8/26/2007

Anyone that has been in business for themselves knows that a company is the refection of the owner and or management. I have had my own business for the past 30 years as a Veterinarian in SanDiego, CA. I moved to San Antonio with my dogs to retire about 4 months ago. To make a long story short, my only concern that I have now is making sure my 2 Labradors are well taken care of. My daughter told me about this great place called Rob Carey's Pet Resort. I was immediately thrilled, so I decided to take my Labs for a drive and check the place out. Well when I got there I guessed I walked into a bad situation. There was a woman by name of Tammie who was scolding one of the workes there who later proceeded to walk away in tears. I felt very bad for the young lady who had just been humiliated in front of the staff and customers. Unfortunately I was standing in line long enough to hear the woman (Tammi) say how much she new and how professional she was. I was under the impression that she was some kind of manager. Lets hope that she wasn't, because people in management position DO NOT conduct business in such a manner. I understand that people can have a bad day, but you are still obligated to be a professional regardless of the circumstances. I thought to myself as the quarrel went on, do I really want my dogs in a place where there was this kind of management/leadership. First and foremost, you should always take care of your workers! They are the ones who will be the spirit that drives success and the face that represents your business. A unhappy employee is a NON PRODUCTIVE employee, which can lead to bad reviews of a companies morals and place in society. With all this in mind, I thought it best not to put my pets in that kind of environment. This event was some months ago, hopefully things have gotten better. This review is in no way to discourage customers or defimate the companies integrity. It is simply my experience there and I wish them best of luck. more
