Ripped off my 92 year old Mom 9/26/2010

They charged $1060.97 to replace a garbage disposal with one that can be purchased for $110 for Amazon.com. Forced her to pay $99.50 for "Lifetime Preferred Customer Membership" or they "couldn't do any work." Actually had the nerve to put in writing that she saved $220.16. These people seem to prefer to squeeze as much as possible from vulnerable elderly than to just do a good job for a fair price. After I complained to them and talked to them several times, they agreed to refund about $300, then decided not to because I had posted an unfavorable review. The owner apparently said "what's the point in refunding money since there is a bad review posted." Well Linda Houser, President of Pat's Plumbing, now there's another post. By the way who's Pat? I can see why you wouldn't want your own name on this business. more

Pat's scam artists! 1/13/2009

Their field rep came out to give me a price to install a new gas water heater He said it would cost $2,000.00 and I told him to get lost. He then asked how much I was willing to pay for the job and I told him $1,200 total. They took the "deal". I am in my mid eighties and they were simply trying to scam an old man. Anyway, the installation was well done but they should be ashamed of their business prcatices. However, what goes around comes around and eventually it will all catch up with them. more

Rip Off-They tried to screw me 9/16/2008

Good: Nothing about the staff-packed me both times they came out. Bad: The tech didn't know his work. First told me they had to excavate the main line in front of building then later said he had to cut pipe under the building as it was cast iron.. Improvements: The need to liquidate and go out of business and quit taking advantage of people.. more

1000.00 per hour is what the charge and I had to hire a real plumber to fix Pat's work! 1/30/2008

We hired Pats company to unclog a drain on January 22 2008. Pats employee came out and used a motorized auger and in doing so punched holes in our plumbing causing leaks. Pats employee went down and assessed the damage and said he didn't have the supplies to fix it that night, but would be out the next day to fix it. He came out the next day at around 9:15 in the morning, he replaced about 8 feet of pipe, which was very accessible, he did not have to cut into walls or climb under the house. He was finished around 10:30, so he was here about 1 1/2 hours, the bill came to a total with the auger work the day before of $1527.51. Which has been you. That evening, the walls in our basement bathroom started to leak. Obviously we had another leak and it wasn't going to be as accessible. We called pats company to, one complain about the extraordinary cost of the work, and two, to advise there was another leak. We didn't ever get an explanation of why the bill was so high, all we got was that pats needed to come out and give us an estimate to fix the other leak and if we hired another plumber, pats work would not be warranted. Well that sent up lots of red flags so we called another plumber, someone that had done work for us in the past. He came out January 29, 2008. He looked at the job that was done by Pats Company and said we paid way too much, we already knew this. He was here from 8:00 to 10:30, he had to cut the sheet rock out of the bathroom, and replace some pipe, he also fixed our garbage disposal which was leaking under the sink. He was here twice as long as pats plumber, had to do more extensive work and his bill was $196.93. Bottom line is PATS charges customers over 1000.00 per hour. I have sent several emails to PATS and they will only call me back offering to correct the additional problem for additional money or remove my warranty. PATS will not respond to email as I believe they do not wish to have anything in writing. It is my belief and I also read complaints on the internet that Pat's plumbing is a highly predatory company that gouges consumers for shoddy work. more

Thieves!!! 1/22/2008

My elderly father lives in Enumclaw and had a new water heater installed for $2560. He was not aware of the lower costs from other places (including Home Depot) and has been told by several dealers he was robbed. He was signed up for "membership" and was charged for several additional items that are ordinarily included in other bids. This company is not only unethical, but are outright thieves, preying on elderly who are too trusting and will sign anything in good faith. more

Planning to SUE! 10/16/2007

After not providing their estimate by the agreed upon deadline, I called to notify them that I would be hiring another plumber. They promised to refund the $42.38 "trip fee." The next day, their estimator called and told me that the estimate for the work would be $18,000.00!!! I got another plumber to do it for under $1,000.00. These guys are crooks. Two months and three phone calls later, they still have not refunded my money. They keep promising to pay but keep giving me excuses why they can't do till next week. Every time I call, I keep getting the same "song 'n dance." I intend to take them to small claims court. more

Too Expensive 8/17/2007

They advertise that they don't charge by the hour but by the "JOB"...........in our case the JOB netted down to over $950.00 for less than an hours work. We used another reputable licensed Plumber who did the same job for less than $100. more

Steer clear of thses guys. Charged me $60 just to drive out and then immediatley after arriving told me it would cost nearly $500 to fix any problem. Why they didn't tell me that before driving out is beyond me. Find someone else and save yourself a lot of money. more

con artists 11/15/2006

Ratings on citysearch and service magic are very deceptive (where do I rate them?) The more money you give them for advertising the better your rating. Imagine that! These guys wanted to charge my mother in law $1500 to replace her electric hot water heater. They cost about $230 at the hardware store. We ate the $40 and told them to go to hell. This company also has more complaints to the attorney general than any other plumber in the state. Avoid all of these commission paid jokers, they are an insult to the trades. more

Woah, high prices 1/4/2006

They charge a service fee (around $40 to come and take a look). They got high ratings (9.5 on CitySearch and Service Magic), so we thought we would just absorb that fee into the price of the job. But the estimate was about 3-4 times what other plumbers gave us. I can't comment on other aspects of their service, but I think it might be wise to explore other plumbing services before using these guys. more
