Sheila is a delight and has saved my highlights. 6/17/2008

Ive yet to review anything in New York, but couldnt resist after stumbling on Sheila. Having lived in the city for over two years (and getting highlights every 6 weeks), I have seen almost ten stylists, but finally found Sheila in the summer of 07. I was very frusterated with overpaying for satisfactory highlights in the city, and was almost going to go back to my natural color. Sheila spent almost 4 hours with me the first time I went to her, and tailored everything she did just to fit my needs. For example, she realized that part of the reason I was dissatisfied with my highlights was actually due to the color of my eyebrows. She took care of that as well, and has made a huge difference for me. She also concluded that a base color change might be important, and that highlights werent enough on their own. Im so happy she did so, because the past year she alleviated the stress of finding a hairdresser that I love. Aside from the fact that she is a delight to talk to, and makes my day every time I see her, she is extremely talented and always up on new ideas. I highly recommend her!! more

Go to Varvara for the best Eyebrows!!! 6/6/2008

I will not let ANYONE touch my eyebrows except for Varvara ( and I have tried many MANY places- all the best) I started going to Varvara several years ago when she was working at Eliza's Eyes at the Avon Salon and Spa. There she was trained by the very best-, and she was ALWAYS my favorite out of all the other technicians there. After the Avon Salon closed I strayed for a while and tried other people for convenience purposes- all were a major disappointment and since I have followed her to Mingle. No one has ever compared to her skill and understanding. She is always so accommodating and when you need to get in and out fast she is the person to go to. I always leave feeling like my brows couldn't be more perfect! I know after a visit to Varvara I will ALWAYS look my very best!! If you are in search of someone you can trust to be your go-to eyebrow specialist- go visit Varvara at Salon Mingle and you will be hooked for life- I promise! more

best eyebrow shaping and more 6/5/2008

I was first sent to Varvara for eyebrow shaping by my daughter.Suffice it to say, that I am very happy with her effective and exacting approach as well as her welcoming personality. I do not feel the need for eye makeup after my visits to Varvara. I have followed Varvara from Eliza"s Eye to her new locations and would not trust having my eyebrows done by anyone else. more

I have been going to Varvara for years, since she was with Eliza's eyes. Not only is she warm and welcoming, she is expertly skilled. She was able to help me patiently correct brows that had been overplucked when I went for threading; thanks to her I got them back into proper shape for my wedding. I get compliments on my brows all the time especially from other beauty technicians, colleagues, even people on the street or in building elevators remark on them and it is all thanks to Varvara. She is a wonderful person and a true brow artist! more

Varvara is truly a find for those looking for eyebrow perfection, and she can now be found at Salon Mingle. When you are in her chair, Varvara takes the time to study your eyebrows to ensure that the shape and arch are what they should be for your face. She painstakingly waxes, tweezes, and tints if that is what you want. If you've plucked too much on your own, Varvara is able to make the damage less noticeable with her deft way with a pencil. Well groomed eyebrows are a must for a youthful look, and it is simply magical how Varvara can transform a face with her skill. Am I convinced Varvara is the best at what she does? I first met Varvara when she was working with Eliza's Eyes at the Avon Salon and Spa over 6 years ago. Til this day, I trust no one else with my eyebrows but her. Varvara is a master at creating the perfect shape for each individual that complements the frame of their face. You will walk out with beautifully shaped eyebrows each time. Varvara is the eyebrow queen. I have followed her for years and she is THE BEST for eyebrows in NY. She knows exactly how to correct, maintain, and perfect eyebrows. I met Varvara while she worked at Warren Tricomi Salon and won't go to anyone else. She has the softest hands and sculpts your brows to perfection- she will tailor to your personal vision. I have had great difficulty in finding an aesthetician who does men's brows as well as women's but I have been thoroughly impressed. She doesn't sculpt men's brows in a feminine way- totally masculine and perfect. My girlfriend is obsessed with her as well. Trsust Me- Varvara does not disappoint! more

Best Eyebrow Shaping 6/3/2008

I have been going to Varvara for years and she does the best job - quick, painless and they look great. Several of my friends commented that my face looked slimmer and it was the shape of my eyebrows. Varvara is always on-time with appointments and has been flexible with my travel schedule which I really appreciate. Best Color ever!! 6/1/2008

Okay, I'm not a real blond. There I said it. I've been going to another salon for over 12 years, my colorist left and it's a great thing. My husband would tell me my hair looked Orange-ish for a week after spending huge amounts of money. One day at a baby shower a fellow blond said I should see Sheila at Mingle for true color.So my first time was great, Husband and friends all asked if I got a haircut! LOL!! nope just great natural looking color. Here it is a couple of months later and I just saw Sheila again, and the comments are that I've never looked better or more rested. Woo hoo, best color I've ever had. Thanks Sheila, you rock!! I'm so happy I was referred to Mingle, it's close ,so convenient and at a price that works. Great first experience 5/29/2008

I second the review about the rare balance between affordability (for Manhattan) and quality. The staff members (as well as other clients) are friendly, the vibe is relaxed, and most importantly I?m really pleased with my hair cut. Sheila was great. I felt like the consultation was a real conversation where she listened to what I wanted while still providing plenty of ideas and expertise. She was not even remotely pushy about products- offering a suggestion only when I asked. I?ll definitely be back. Best Hairstylist in New York 5/6/2008

Salon Mingle is a wonderful salon with an accomplished excellent staff. My hairstylist of choice, Sheila has great talent and patience. In my experience, she's one of the best hairstylists in New York. What sets her apart from other stylists, is with her I know I am in the hands of a true artist. And as with any artist there needs to be dedication and true craftsmanship, Sheila displays both beautifully. It is this type of dedication and talent that makes me never want to go anywhere else. more

An experience to savor while you're there then leave feeling glamorous 4/22/2008

This modest salon has a very skilled staff in every aspect of the services that they have to offer. Staring with the receptionist, shampoo/massage person, up to the colorist "Tina" and stylist "Henry" they team up to create a relaxing, professional and satisfying atmosphere while you are at the salon. Best of all I walk away with hair that has been cut and colored so creatively that I get compliments from strangers!! I recently moved back to New York from California and was overwhelmed with the number of hair salons (and prices) in the city. Searching for the rare balance of quality and affordability, I ventured to Salon Mingle with blind faith. Sheila is a phenomenal listener to your "hair vision" and more importantly, applies her expertise and knowledge by communicating the reality of this vision. Bottom line: her patience and precision eased any qualms I initially had walking into the salon. Despite reservations of the short bob cut, I have received endless compliments from both friends and strangers! I have decided to return for a new spring color to accompany my new cut! It is apparent that there is a healthy team culture of growth at Salon Mingle - a team committed to ensuring everyone walks out with their "hair vision". Great cut, friendly staff 2/1/2008

This was a great experience. Super friendly service, nice atmosphere and one of the best cuts I've ever had. I've even had several strangers stop me to ask where I get my hair cut (no kidding). I've tried several salons in the city - they are almost always overpriced and the quality isn't there. This place gives you a great cut at a good price (I think prices vary depending on who cuts your hair, so be sure to ask before you make the appt). I'll definitely be back. Awesome cuts, relaxed environment 1/13/2008

This relaxed salon is a good discovery in midtown. Mingle is not hectic and you never feel rushed. The vibe is more relaxed and comfortable and the staff very friendly and attentive. I've been to this salon several times now and have always been pleased with the results and the overall experience. My stylist is Miho, who listens to what I want and deftly produces a flattering and confident cut that suits both the shape of my face and my overall style. I always leave looking and feeling fresh and sharp but not overdone in that uber blown-out way that you often get where you want to undo your do as soon as you leave the salon. Sheila also gives a nice post-wash shoulder massage. I recommend Mingle to anyone who is looking for a sophisticated cut in midtown in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. more

Great Service and overall satissfaction 1/6/2008

After reading several reviews from this site, I went to Salon Mingle for an appointment with Tina. I have had a roller-coaster of a time trying to find a decent stylist in NYC over the past 10 years, after my move from California. Some of my experiences have been life altering and truly traumatic to say the very least. I had given up on NYC salons 5 years ago, and ventured into NJ and LI. But, after reading all the user reviews about salon Mingle, I once again ventured back into NYC, and was delighted by the experience. Tina was enthusiastic and ready to take on the challenge of the cut/style that I presented her. I brought photos which she took the time to view and to really understand what I was looking for. I felt in confident hands while she was working her magic, and did not have to worry at all that I was going to be sent back to the stone ages with a disasterous cut. To conclude, I left completely satissfied and very happy. By the way, the staff was very friendly and attentive and I didn't feel rushed or forgotten about. Highly recommend this salon! more

Best Salon In The City........And best Stylist 11/29/2007

If you want to go to the best salon in NYC well Salon Mingle is the place to go . Everyone is very professional as soon as you walk in the door you are being greeted starting from the front desk to the assistants and last but not least the stylist I had my hair done with MICHIO and he is the best stylist I have ever been to ...........Wow he does take his time but that is called perfection. Best Haircut Ever! 11/17/2007

I've been to Salon Mingle twice and both times have been extremely satisfied. My stylist is Michio and my haircuts were amazing! For the past two weeks, I've received more compliments on my haircut than I have ever received in my life! Michio takes his time cutting your hair and is extremely focused. The after-shampoo massage is a dream. The staff treats you like a celebrity. Pros: Thumbs Up for Michio and Salon Mingle Cons: Not A One! more
