Great salon 9/10/2008

After going to a few ?fancy? salons in the city, I was hesitant to try yet another new place but was very unhappy with the cuts that I was getting (especially when I was paying over $100 for them). Well, after finding Salon Mingle on CitySearch and reading the glowing reviews, I decided to give it a try. I went to Sheila for a haircut and have been happy ever since. She really listened to what I wanted and gave me a cut that not only looks good but is easier to style. 6 weeks later my hair is still easy to style and is growing out beautifully The salon is definintely 'bare bones', but that doesn?t really bother me. The salon is clean, the cut was great and the price is better than a lot of salons that do not offer the same quality of service. Pros: Sheila! Great cut, good prices, clean, nice staff more

Best hairstylist 9/5/2008

Have you ever felt as beautiful as a film star? You will after you get your hair cut at Salon Mingle. All of the staff is experienced style experts, but my favorite go to gal is Sheila. She has a gracious manner and a genuine passion for hair. After having long for years, I never thought I could pull off a a short modern bob with bangs, but thanks to Sheila it's been my best look, ever! Be in for a GREAT treat! Salon Mingle is the best. Best blonde highlights I've ever had! 9/3/2008

I can't say enough about Tina at Salon Mingle! She is amazing and has given me the best blonde highlights I have ever had. I get so many compliments and they look extremely natural. On top of that, she is extremely sweet and personable! I always love going to see Tina because I know I can count on her and she consistently does an incredible job. If you are looking for a great blonde color and affordable prices, definitely check Tina out. I don't trust my hair with anyone else! Pros: Tina! more

Fabulous Hair I Can Actually Afford 9/3/2008

Just moved back to the city and seemed to be searching in vain for an affordable yet fabulous hairstylist--enter Sheila. A friend of mine recommended her after getting an amazing Mia Farrow circa Rosemary's Baby cut. I, on the other hand, am growing my hair out, which is always a trying endeavor. Sheila was patient, personable, and truly listened to what I wanted while also injecting her own expertise. It is her focus, attention to detail and love of hair that make her a trustworthy standout. Oh yeah, and I'm going to get my color done by her tomorrow...can't wait!! more

Best haircut in NYC 9/1/2008

I have been a regular client of Michio's for the past four years or so, and have nothing but good things to say. His haircuts are consistently purr-fect, and I feel completely confident in his hands. He is a total pro and spends a lavish amount of time getting the cut right. The salon staff feels like family, unpretentious vibes, great music, and AMAZING shampoo massages!!! Also make sure you ask them for a cup of the ultra-authentic green tea from Japan. I wish I could go every day. Pros: Great haircut every time Cons: none more

Best eyebrow shape 8/28/2008

Varvara is amazing. She was recommended to me by a friend 3 years ago, and now I don't know what I would do without her. I didn?t expect anyone to notice my new eyebrows after my first appointment, but they did and still do. I had no idea that my eyebrows would make my entire face look better. Now, I plan my appointments so that Varvara can give me a little ?face lift? before any big night. more

Best Eyebrow Shaping 8/23/2008

Varvara has been my eyebrow stylist for several years. When you first meet her, she will spend time discussing your brows as they relate to your eye and face shape. Her advice is always spot-on . Varvara makes sure that you are comfortable and once she begins you know you are in good hands. Her approach is methodical, carefully grooming, waxing and tweezing until she is satisfied. I have NEVER been disappointed. I am constantly complimented on my eyebrows which makes me feel that my time with Varvara is the best money I spend every month! I have sent many friends to her and highly recommend her to anyone reading this. more

She always does a perfect job, taking the time to carefully tweeze, sculpt, and define your brows to enhance your face. Great Haircut 8/3/2008

I was looking for a hair salon/stylist who would not only give me a good cut but listen to what I wanted. Sheila was amazing at both. I was her last client of the day and she still spent a good hour meticulously but confidently sculpting my hair. Two thumbs up for her and the salon. Will be back. Pros: good "affordable" haircut Cons: haircuts in ny aren't cheap more

I must say I am a picky, creative yet undecisive when it comes to my hair. Sheila is amazingly talented, patient, creative and intuitive to your needs. I am new to NYC and read about the Salon Mingle on Citysearch and decided to go for a gamble and not only go to a new hairdresser but also one that was still in training. I have now been to Salon Mingle to see Sheila twice this summer and both times for drastic changes. SHEILA IS AMAZING! more

Perfect eyebrow shaping 7/23/2008

For the last 5 years, I have been seeing Varvara for eyebrow shaping. A few times, out of convenience (or pressure), I have let other highly touted professionals shape my eyebrows.Each time, I was filled with regret for seeing someone other than Varvara. The good news? She was always able to restore the original shape--the shape that best compliments my face and features. Varvara is, without doubt, the most talented eyebrow designer. more

Best Eyebrows for Picky Clients!!! 7/19/2008

A word of advice for anyone who is as nit picky as I am with every single possible detail of their appearance: Varvara is number one when it comes to eyebrow shaping! Up until I met Varvara I would pluck my own eyebrows under the motto that "thin was in." And I would bark at my mother anytime she offered suggestions about my appearance. Only when I started modeling, my agent informed me that I must grow and re-shape my eyebrows if I ever wanted to shoot for high fashion magazines. I told him that I don't trust anyone touching my face, but then he assured me that he had a professional in mind who picky clients seem to adore. To anyone who wants to feel better about their appearance: run, don't walk, to visit Varvara at Mingle and have her help you get the most beautiful eyebrows possible. As all of the other glowing reviews have touched on, she is thoroughly professional and an expert in her field. When I started with her many years ago at Eliza's eyes, I was a grown woman who had been over-plucking since early high school and totally confused about what to do. I knew my brows needed help! She made the transition of growing them in easy, and I grew to love my brows and value all that they do to frame my face. Now I hate for anyone else to touch them. When I have to be out of NYC for extended periods of time, I have to get them done by others, but I am sure I am no joy to work on as I am adamant (and nervous) that they not stray from her shape. I am always relieved and happy to get back to her capable hands. She is wonderful!! Try her once and you will never stray. Pros: All positive. Cons: No cons. more

I love Salon Mingle! Tina is the best, and she takes her time and puts a lot of care into her cuts. She also offers free bang-trims, which are an absolute life saver because my hair grows so fast! The entire staff is friendly and they all make you feel special and welcome from the minute you walk in. I have been to my fair share of salons around NYC, and Salon Mingle is my favorite! more

AMAZING 'do with Sayuri! 6/25/2008

After years of going to hair stylists who never quite gave me the cut I'd ask for, I finally went with the recommendation of several friends who told me to see Sayuri at Salon Mingle. Now I am just annoyed with myself for taking so long to make the appointment! Sayuri gets it - she listens to you and creates magic with her scissors. I walked in with long dull hair and wanted something funky and trendy and the haircut I walked out with is exactly what I had envisioned and hoped for. She also dyed my hair so creatively that is looks like art and I cannot stop looking in the mirror. Sayuri knows what colors work together to achieve the look you are going for. I've gotten so many compliments and could not be happier! Definitely going back for more. Pros: skillful stylists, friendly staff, reasonably priced Cons: none! more

i was at the salon Mingle one week ago. Its great to see all of them every time i go there. i wish Varvara (eyebrow person) still there, not to run from one place to another. My best are always Shila and Varvara, who is in the Warren Tricomi Salon in the Plaza now and highly recommended by me. If you hear that she moved to LA, where she has another location, its not true.
