Not happy with Luna 6/28/2015

We are very unhappy with the carpet that was put in by Luna. We have had it for almost 3 years and the wear looks like the previous carpet we had for 13 years. We don't wear shoes in the house and there are only three people in the household. I would never recommend Luna to any friends or family. Larry, the salesman, is not someone I would ever do business with again. more

horrible customer service and liers 4/10/2015

Purchased laminate, removed all old flooring, worked non stop gor 4 days straight getting the room ready. The installers walked in said the sub floor wasn't stable and tried to charge us $1000 extra to replace subfloor that was fine, and refused to put our floor down. We did everything we were told to do by the sales rep. Awful company and liars. more

Don't Do It! 8/7/2014

I was warned by my mother in law, who used Luna less than a year before we did, that we shouldn't use them. But, we had three other estimates and they offered the best price. HOWEVER, I have now taken off FOUR days of work as a result of this hell of an installation process. They "burnt" the carpet when they seamed it so it has slowly browned all down the seam (about six to eight inches out). In order to fix it, they had to send an inspector who only works during the week and not in the evenings (2nd day off work); he is the one who diagnosed the problem; then, for "insurance purposes" they had to send a second inspector to confirm the first inspector's diagnosis. Of course, this second inspector only works during the week and not in the evenings (3rd day off work). So here I am waiting at home having taken my 3rd day off work and I call Luna to find out what time he'll be here only for them to try and tell me that I never scheduled an appointment. Excuse me? I NEVER scheduled the appointment? You mean your unprofessional and unreliable company DID NOT properly input my appointment because believe me, I wouldn't have taken a day off of work for some imaginary appointment that I have been waiting four weeks for and that we went back and forth trying to find an available date that worked with my work schedule for. Then, in order to apologize, they tried to offer me $100 off my next purchase. That's about when I lost my cool. You seriously think I'll ever shop with Luna again. So here I am waiting for the manger to call me back so I can schedule yet another appointment and take my 4th day off work; not to mention, there is going to be another day I have to take off when they come to replace the carpet they ruined. however, it is crap! We've had it barely under a year and it looks old and worn in and even with the upgraded pad, it's not comfortable at all. You get what you pay for couldn't be more applicable than in this situation. It's my own fault for hiring them when I was warned by my MIL and the reviews. more

One call close or no quote in home 7/8/2013

Today, Luna came out for a whole house measure/quote. I told the scheduler that this will NOT be a one call close, as our new carpet is part of a much larger whole house remodel, and we needed to put together a spreadsheet of line items. She assured me it would be no problem. Mike, works in the Western Suburbs of Chicago, stated he was a manager. When I told him this would not be a one call close as I have mentioned when making the appointment, he told me "I have 8 other appointments, so I won't be measuring today." He put his shoes on, basically telling me how they make $100,000 a day as a company and only go to homes of people "ready to buy". I would not be wasting my time if I were not serious about this project. IF YOU'RE NOT READY TO BUY FROM THEM ON THEIR FIRST VISIT, DON'T BOTHER MAKING AN APPOINTMENT. I could not believe how rude it was - that they are SO big and successful, they "don't waste their time with PROSPECTS". What this "savvy manager" doesn't know or understand, is that I also have a rehab biz that flips about 8 homes a year, and 90% of the time, those homes need new carpeting throughout the entire house. Luna's loss, as they will not get a second chance. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE IN BUSINESS TO ACCOMMODATE CUSTOMERS - THIS "MANAGER" OBVIOUSLY THINKS CUSTOMERS ARE SUPPOSED TO ACCOMMODATE THEM. Ridiculous. They won't be called again. more

luna lunacy 7/3/2013

I had Luna install new carpet in 2 rooms. I thought everything went well and signed off that it had. After the installers left I started vacuuming and found out they hadn't cut the hole over one of the vents. I called immediately and they came back and fixed that. Over the course of the next few days I realized 2 other things were wrong. First off, the tacking was coming through where the family room and dining area connected. I kept lightly skimming sharp points with my feet. Also, they had installed the upstairs carpet with the seam at the front of the room, not the back as discussed with the person who came to measure. The seam is very visible! I called to have someone come out and suffice it to say, they did not come the day they were supposed to. No one from Luna called me. I had to call every time they missed the deadline for arrival that was set (3 times). They did finally call to ask if the crew actually had to show up that day or could I reschedule. Keep in mind this was a Monday; a work day! When they did finally come (I rescheduled for first apt. on a different day to avoid the run-around), he fixed the tacking problem very easily, making me think it should have been done better in the first place. As far as the upstairs seam goes, he said he could come back and pull the smaller piece up and try to re-seam it. As that would mean moving heavy furniture and having to move and reconnect a heavy t.v., I declined. I guess I'm just stuck with what I got. Next time I would go with my local installer. A couple hundred dollars for a great install on a product that will be down 10+ years is well worth it in my opinion. more

AWFUL experience 2/19/2013

If I could give NO stars I would. Salesman sold laminate flooring that it turns out was not good for laundry or bathrooms. Installers left a mess inside & out that took 3 days to clean up. They left trash & pieces of wood from their saw in the front yard. Inside the house, they left black marks on the walls & ceilings, put gouges in the ceilings from doors that they originally refused to remove & shave down when they wouldn't open on new flooring, scratched bathtub & shower with toilet removal. The technician Luna sent out to review their work even found more problems. And when they returned to fix their problems, they created more. First time in 30 years I have ever told installers/repairmen to leave my house. more

Great job by Luna 8/4/2012

We had 800 square feet of hardwood installed a couple of weeks ago, and we are completely satisfied with the experience. Our sales rep was nothing like the pushy jerks described in several review we read. The price for the job was pretty much in line with local estimates we received, but with Luna this include floor removal, furniture moving, door trims etc... The best part was that their crew came when scheduled and stayed for the better part of two days until the job was done. more

The company and carpet is awful. They show you one thing and bring out something totally different. The consultants are very rude and misleading as well as the mangement. I took off work awaiting installation and when they arrived the carpet was a very cheap quality. Called the store, another consultant arrived very rude. After speaking with the manager who took a month to try and resolved the problem ending answer was oh well your deposit is final unless you down grade on your carpet. I would not recommend this company to any one more

No complaints whatsoever 7/1/2012

We replaced our carpet in our bedrooms with hardwood floors. The guys were very efficient, moved our furniture, installed wood floors, and put the furniture back. The job looks awesome. Not one complaint. They kept the work area clean, cleaning as they went and cleaned up everything before they left. They took old carpet with them (did not dump it in our dumpster). more

HORRIBLE 11/16/2011

This company is awful. After they came in very friendly they said they would send a "consultant" to walk us through the process. Then we agreed to the price and made the appointment for installation. NEVER was there a consultant, the installers were miserable and the product Shaw that they carry is awful, splitting and bubbling after a few weeks. Now I have 1/4 of my new floors ruined and neither the manufacturer or Luna would help. They come in nice but then you are left in the dust. Now Im out $4k. More problems but Im so frustrated at this point. more

Great Carpet 10/22/2009

I signed up online at 8:45 PM and had someone at my house the next morning at 9 A.M. was very impressed the could get someone there so fast. I had bought the day before from a competitor and spent $7500 Luna came in at $5150 and I actually liked there carpet more. They installed two days later on Saturday just in time to beat the party I was having for the Bears game on Sunday. The installers were very nice and walked the job to make sure I was happy before they left. I would buy from them again. more

everything was perfect from start to finish. Have used empire and others and luna's selection was great. Price was similar to others, but product was superior. I don't usually write reviews but when i noticed 2 negative reviews, i felt i owed it to write one. great job luna! more

does not back up their product 1/2/2009

Had laminated floors installed in my family room. Sent with Luna for their low price. What a mistake. After a couple of months the floor started bubbling up. I called Luna and it took three weeks for Luna finally to call me back to schedule someone to come out. After looking at the problem they called me back two weeks later to say that it was my fault that I did not clean up spills and it will cost $600 to replace a couple of boards. We have always cleaned up spills and besides we have laminate floors in our kitchen and they get more spills and they did not bubble up. I complained again and they sent out another inspector. I never heard back from them. Now my floors a bubbling up in other places. Needless to say I will never go back to Luna. more

Horrible 3/3/2007

Ordered carpet runner for two flights of stairs. Was promised installation the following Saturday during a three hour window. Installers arrived late without proper materials, measurements, or information. Really they only sell the carpet and sub-contract the installation, so they have no control over the quality. The buereacracy at their customer service department is so bad you can't get any appropriate response out of anyone. Don't follow through on what they say they are going to do. Kate Zilke customer service manager is incompetent, will not give out info about superiors to talk to. After 7 weeks and SIX wasted weekend days, I STILL do not have acceptable carpet on my stairs. Will never call Luna again. I know I'm the only review on this site but look at others (yahoo, insider pages, click for justice) and you'll see plenty of similar stories. more
