edendale grill and mixville could potentially be a great addition to a neighborhood sorely lacking in good, mid-range restaurants. it's open late and has made wonderful use of the old firehouse, with a vast heated patio and eclectic mix of movie history and art. the food, though presented a little more homestyle (packaged butter pats belong in a coffee shop, not in a restaurant with linens and china) than haute cuisine , is delicious. the steaks are tender, the sauces inventive, the portions generous and the prices fair. but if you prefer to hang at mixville, their beautifully appointed bar, be prepared to have deep pockets and an expense account. the cocktail prices are exorbitant and what one might expect to pay at a high-priced hotel, not a neighborhood restaurant. the restaurant's worth a visit but apres-dinner cocktails might be better served elsewhere...
Pros: complimentary valet, large outdoor area, landmark space
Cons: overpriced bar, limited bar seating
