The food is amazing! The waiting time for a table is not so great. The restaurant is very small, so it feels like a house. Parking is limited and with a weird layout. Staff is always happy and ready to take orders. In my opinion it could use some live music and more sitting space. more

Best Chile Rellenos in Texas! 2/25/2012

Chuys on Barton Springs is my favorite location, and I usually order the Cheese Chile Relleno cause its so good! Personally I can't get enough of their green sauce, so I always substitute the ranchero sauce for green, although both are good. The service has always been fast, even though its usually crowded when I go there, and have to wait for a table. But the wait time is never as long as they tell you, and theres a great salsa a chip bar to get you started. I've also really enjoyed the stuffed sopapilla and the burrito as big as your face. LOVE Chuys atmosphere and its great for people watching. more

I didn't order the Chewy Chonga! 6/23/2011

Ok, so I stroll up to Chuy's in my cool Austinite ride after a long day of telling hot chicks to keep their hands off my beautiful car. (I hate oily finger prints on my waxed 7 layer, laquer paint job on my 74' Pantera) I order one of my favorite comfort food dishes, 'The Chimichonga""! I've had it a hundred times, a hundred ways and I know when a Chimi is done to perfection! After ordering the waitress finally brings me my order but at 10 feet from the table I could see trouble approaching. My heart sank, my stomach turned. My Chimi was all brown from over cooking. It reminded me of a big ape turd I had seen in a zoo once as a child and it scared the hell outa me! This was like a bad flash back for sure. The waitress left and I hesitantly cut into the thing. It made a sound I've never heard before! It was hard and it crunched like no Chimi should ever crunch. The ends are usually a little harder because of the thickness but shouldn't be brick hard. She came back later and asked if everything was ok and I told her no, everything was not ok. I told her my Chimichanga was way over cooked and she looked at me and said, ""OMG, That's over cooked!"" That's when the ugly truth sunk in. If I'm not a chef and I know what a good chimichanga should look like, and the waitress knows also, then why did the one person who should definitely know, (THE CHEF), send out a burned chimichanga and why didn't the waitress who knew it was over cooked bring it to me instead of tell them it's not fit for consumption, unless you're a dog. Well, that did it for me. You pay good money and they knowingly bring you pooh. Brown, crunchy, ape pooh. As if they're hurting for money, please. more

I have been a fan of this resturant since I first moved into Austin about 14 years ago. It is a simple resturant with no airs, great food, and good service. I have never been disappointed in my meal or my drink. With all these new places opening up, it is good to know that the old staples still exist and have far better food then they ever will - no one can compete with chuys Pros: godd drinks, great food more

LOVE Chuy's! 4/9/2010

I wish they would clean their window sills and blinds, but apart from that we are never disappointed at Chuy's. This was the first time at this location. As always the food was plentiful and hot. The jalapeno ranch dip is totally addictive as well as the queso. My favorite dish ever is the deluxe chicken enchiladas which is always filled liberally with good white meat chicken. Waitress was a little ditsy, but hey - it's Austin! :) Pros: Food is always amazing Cons: a little dirty more

Average food 2/11/2009

I'm confused what the big deal is about. The food is good, definitely not great. We asked for their spiciest salsa only to find out we were already eating it (come on, this is Texas, we like spicy). Nothing was bad, but definitely not worth the hour wait. I think it's just the trendy place to go. There are plenty of restaurants with better, cheaper food and shorter waits. more

Best in Texas! 2/10/2009

I have been going to Chuy's ever since I was a little girl and I would recommend it to anyone who likes Mexican Food. It is one of my favorite resaturants! They're queso is amazing also!!! And it's not even that expensive. more
