I have been to Chuy's and although the food is good it is not what Real Mexican food is. It does not contain the real flavor and richness that only real mexican dishes have. I am sorry, for all of you who have tasted the food and were fooled in believing that you were getting the real deal. I suppose you guys have never tried Nuevo Leon on E. 6th or Breakfast at Joe's Bakery. OMG!!! You don't know what you are missing!!!! Talk about real deal! more

For ambiance and quality interior Mexican food, Fonda San Miguel cannot be beat. The service is second to none. Dinner there is a little pricey but well worth it. Pros: excellent food, knowledgeable staff, good drinks Cons: not enough parking more

While Chuy's is a good place for margaritas I don't think it's all that for the food. Sure you can have cheese enchilads, queso, cheese over a burrito but it all tastes the same after a while. If you want true Tex-Mex try a local place run by families who have a history for this food. Pros: margaritas Cons: crowded, too many kids more

Looking for Bland? Try Chuys 11/6/2002

Unless you're from out of town, or another California transplant, skip Chuy's. Lousy food, weak drinks, and over priced. You can get much, much better Mexican food in town. If you're too scared to eat someplace where the food has flavor and spice, go to McDonalds. At least it is cheaper and faster than Chuys. Pros: interesting decor Cons: lousy food, poor service, long waits more

Over Hyped--Crowded--Loud--NO GOOD!!! 10/31/2002

Tooooo loong of a wait (anytime) bad tex-mex (Las Manitas, Maudies or El Sol Y La Luna are 10X better) Basically, you shouldn't stand in a 15 minute to 45 minute wait for substandard food when you could go to a good place instead. The only reason that Chuy's is popular is because they have a cool decor. The food is decent and the drinks are weak. My first choice would definetly not be Chuy's, but I would place it in the top ten. Pros: Decor, Friendly Cons: Crowded, Bad parking more

Not worth the prices...very bland for Mexican food, at least the location that I ate at off of North 183 close to Duval exit. Had an extremely long wait, waiter was no where to be found.....how did this get on this list ? Maybe because the ratees there were really having their drinks, not eating !!!!! Best Childhood Memory 10/21/2002

As a child, my father wanted to go to Chuy's every weekend for lunch. He got especially excited when they had their annual Green Chili Festival. I always got the same thing: The Big As Yo Face Beef and Cheese Burrito with Ranchero Sauce. And my brother always got Nachos. And then our parents would get whatever as long as my dad's meal was really spicy. All the meals are huge, so we would share everything and take home whatever we didnt eat for lunch the next day.
