chuy's, really? 10/4/2002

Chuy's is a nice place to eat, but rated number one in Mexican food for the Austin area, I don't think so. Pros: sala is okay, spice Cons: service, tasted better more

Canned Beans 10/2/2002

Chuys is a great place to eat. The only problem with their food is that the refried beans taste like they came from a can. Unfortunately, Chuys is a trendy place to eat which makes for long waits and it is just a little pricey. Pros: enchiladas Cons: refried beans, crowded, pricey more

Love that Chuy's 9/26/2002

Great, cheap, fast Austin tex-mex. Have to make a stop everytime I am in town! Pros: inexpensive, great food, fun atmosphere Cons: not fine dining more

the BEST 9/18/2002

Nice try 9/12/2002

Food is pretty bad but at least everything sin't drowned in chipotle sauce. Atmosphere is pretty good. Nice place to take tourist who have never had good Mexican/TexMex food. more

The Best Tex Mex Ever 9/12/2002

Chuy's is not only great for the food, but also for the atmosphere. It is casual and fun and would return to Austin if only to eat there! more

Da Best? Are you kidding? 9/11/2002

Putting Chuy's as the number one mexican restaurant is an outrage. Just because it is well know or a chain doesn't mean that it has good food. The food is not bad, but there are definitely much better places in Austin to eat real mexican food like Angie's, Casa Garcia, Taquerias Arandas, etc. Pros: Nice waiters, fairly priced Cons: Crowded, Small parking lot, too chainy more

Chuy's is campy fun 9/11/2002

Chuy's is a blast. Campy fun and the food is really quite good. My favorites are the chimichanga with lots of tomitillo sauce and the nachos are huge. the big eaters will want to try the steak burrito. more

What?!?!?!? 9/8/2002

Are the people of Austin looney? Chuy's as the best restaurant?!?!?!?! I mean, I like Chuy's all right, but it is certainly NOT the best restaurant in town. I suggest that first off, whoever nominated Chuy's as the best restaurant go out and experience some of the wonderful food that this city has to offer. And the people who voted for it should follow. more

The Best! 8/24/2002

Best Mexican Food in town. Cheap, too! Everyone should try the Deluxe Tomatilla Chicken Enchiladas - yum! more

overlooked 8/23/2002

at $6 a pop for a handmade texas martini, it's the best deal in town if you ask me. top shelf tequila, fresh squeezed lime juice, sugar water and cointreau or gran marnier. delicious! more

The funnest Tex-Mex in Tex or Mex 8/21/2002

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Austin -- a fun, wild, noisy tex-mex restaurant with fantastic decor and a shrine to Elvis. You can dine in a room decorated with about a thousand hubcaps or below the quarter panel of a '57 Bel Air. The wait is always long, but there is a free chips and salsa bar and a not-free drinks bar. If you order a soda you get a cup that holds about a liter and the waiters will keep refilling it, which makes me happy (and eventually, hyper). The food is pretty good, and there is always a lot of it -- especially after the chips & salsa, I leave stuffed. The servers are always on the ball. Plus, you might see our president's daughters go on a perp walk. Pros: Fun, Elvis, Food Cons: Long Wait more

Common 8/20/2002

Food is not spectacular - Ambiance is very good - like the Elvis theme more

WHATEVER FOOL!!!!! 8/12/2002

Chuy's is the best place to go for a claustrophobic hypochondriac. You can smell other people breath- Yes!! You are that close to others. On the good side the salsa is the best, (if you brought it from Matt's or Herbert's). The dishes are bland imitations and uninspired. Whoever said Chuy's was good Tex-Mex hasn't been to San Antonio. Give it up Chuy sell the plot for a worm farm. Newt Gingrich's grandma can cook better Tex-Mex. more

Great Sangria Floaters 8/8/2002

The food's OK, but I love those sangria floaters! Gotta love a margarita with sangria stirred in . . . yum! more

Chimi's 8/8/2002

Chuy's has the best Chimichanga in town! I absolutely love it! more
