Best Moving Company I've Ever Had 11/2/2011

I had an incredible experience with California New York Express Moving. They were professional in every sense of the word, and my furniture was delivered to CA without one ding or scratch. They have the most courteous movers and customer service personnel. They really know what they're doing here, and this will be the only moving company for me in the future!! more

Serious Gamble - go somewhere else. 1 star isn't low enough. 10/28/2011

I wish I could give them ZERO stars. This was the worst moving experience I've ever had and I am surprised to read the other reviews which are so positive given the number of horrible mistakes they made with my move. First I will say that I moved from CA to NY using another company 11 months prior to the move with CNYX. The same two people packed the same belongings and I had absolutely nothing broken. I used CNYX to move from Brooklyn to LA at the end of June, 2011 and the following is a list of the mess I am still dealing with. 1. My belongings arrived in CA 7 days after scheduled and the several times I called to check they couldn't explain why I had received the email stating my property was in their LA facility before I arrived yet they couldn't deliver as promised. 2. When they finally delivered, the movers were SHOCKINGLY rude, didn't ask where I wanted my furniture, didn't listen when I tried to direct them and several of my larger furniture items were not re-assembled completely. 3. All of my large furniture was scratched and 5 pieces were severely damaged...including my bed, my desk, my dresser, etc. 4. Several boxes were so crushed that it appeared they had been tossed around - corners completely flattened. There were many broken items within these boxes. 5. A lamp box was missing and they were never able to locate it. 6. I filed an insurance claim for my missing and broken items and was told I had to communicate only in writing moving forward. However, my attempts to check on the progress of my claim via email were never responded to. 7. When I finally received a settlement offer over a month later, it was full of typos and errors, including leaving out $100 of the settlement offer. When I wrote AGAIN to inquire, they apologized AGAIN and fixed the errors, sending me a new settlement offer. 8. In addition to the basic settlement, they told me the NY office would call me about an additional concern I had about misinformation I received when I signed my contract. No one has contacted me and I will AGAIN have to follow up with them. 9. Today (more than two months after I filed my claim) I received what is supposed to be the settlement check and it is AGAIN missing the $100 they missed the first time in their addition. The original errors and damage were bad enough -- the fact that I have to keep following up with them is extremely unprofessional and a waste of time. In my opinion, doing business with them is a SERIOUS GAMBLE. more

SMASHED BEYOND REPAIR. DON'T RISK IT 10/25/2011

Like everyone else, the positive reviews attracted me to this company for my move end-April from NYC to L.A. Well, my very strong recommendation is DO NOT USE this company. My first impressions were very positive, the crew was great, and I still appreciate the attitude of the team. Packing was part of our agreement, so they did it all for us - so effectively had ""custody"" of our belongings from the start to the finish of this journey. However on arrival in L.A. the two most valuable objects in the entire shipment, an Italian glass statue and a sculpture (both of which we've owned for around 20 years) had been inadequately packed in newspaper only (no bubble wrap) and were shattered beyond repair. We are, naturally enough, deeply upset. Customer service in LA was woefully inadequate. I've moved literally tens of times over the years, and have never experienced such damage. more

Well done. Very easy. Very satisfied. 10/24/2011

My sister recommended these movers as she used them from New York to San Francisco. The New York staff is incredible. The estimate was very accurate, always got a prompt response, and specific advice. The pick-up movers were great, too. Careful, quick, on time. The only problem was that our grill did not fit in the truck. We wish we had known that would happen so that we could have sold it. Another reason to be as specific as possible when getting your estimate or ask to be picked up first since the truck will likely have your stuff in addition to someone else's. Then in LA, we found an apartment earlier than expected, but was only allowed to move up our delivery by 1 day instead of 4. However, they were as accomodating as they could be. When everything arrived, we had 1 broken book shelf, some broken glasses and plates. Things get jumbled in the truck. The important things were very well protected though. And they allow you to submit a claim to get reimbursed for the broken items which is all we could ask for. I strongly recommend CA/NY express. more

Moved from Brooklyn to SF 10/18/2011

I used California New York Express to move from Brooklyn to San Francisco. I was in doubt of whether I wanted to go through the effort of moving things that distance at all, but then I saw the customer reviews for Move East on Yelp. I don't think moving is generally a pleasant experience, but the people who reviewed the service seemed so happy with it that I contacted Move East for a quote. Within an hour I had a number that was lower than I expected and much lower than any quotes I got from other companies online. I decided to go with it, and on the moving day, the team arrived on time, was able to park on a busy Brooklyn street, and loaded all of the boxes and packed all of the furniture within 2 hours. Just FYI, they take the furniture apart if possible, so you probably shouldn't spend any time wrapping it unless you're sure about how it will be transported. At that point, I flew to San Francisco, and on the day that I said I wanted to receive the shipment, it arrived. I got email updates on the status of the truck, and got a call from the delivery team the day before it was possible to deliver with options for them to drop it off the next day or any other day that week. Whenever I needed Customer Service (to change the delivery address and to add a third-party to the account), I was able to get in touch right away and they were super quick, knowledgeable, and helpful. I would recommend using Move East over any other company if you are moving between CA and NY; I had no problems whatsoever and was very happy with the entire experience. more

Everything with CNYE started off marvelous. Sure enough, the movers showed up on time and were very courteous and they were able to put our stuff in their storage for 30 days FREE which was a great service and we needed it since we were moving to NY/NJ and needed to find a place. They picked up my belongings in LA and dropped them off in NYC, at both sites 4 guys came and did quick work to protect my belongings. Would definitely recommend them! more

We moved from NY to LA and thought the free one month of storage, overall service, and all of the movers were great. One piece of furniture was damaged, although we have yet to see if perhaps the claims process might amend for this damage. The process to set up moving out of storage and picking a date was slightly confusing/not communicated well, but worked out perfectly in the end. We found this moving company to be reasonably priced as well considering the amount of items moved and the length of time in storage before moving it again locally. more

Worst moving company I have EVER done business with 8/5/2011

From the moment they came to my place on the east coast it was a bad experience. One of the first things the ""foreman"" of the crew said was that each crew member is typically paid a gratuity of between 7% and 10%. There were 4 crew members. I was not prepared to be told I needed to tip them. Next, I was told I could pay 50% up front on my credit card and the balance in cash upon delivery. They charged 100% of the cost up front leaving me with practically no credit on which to drive across country with. I had to borrow money from family and use a debit card for hotel stays and meals due to the stupidity of the office personnel. The communication with the company to resolve this was exceptionally poor with everyone pointing fingers at everyone else. I spoke with a woman named Dana several times and each time she acted as if it were the first time she's spoken with me. The sales rep was great in the beginning but did little to assist when there was a problem. Their packing job was the worst. I had an antique marble top to a buffet that has been moved many times by Allied and it was always crated and had never been broken or chipped. This time it arrived in several pieces - some very small - which was noted on the form when it arrived in LA for storage prior to being moved into my home. When I called to ask about restitution, I was told to take a picture of it. I can't even move it due to its weight! When they unloaded the van, many pieces were put in my garage and in no discernible order. There are boxes placed behind heavy furniture that are impossible to get to. My expensive racing bicycle arrived broken as well. I don't know what else is damaged since I can't get to the boxes to open them. I am waiting for a friend to assist me. Not easy to find someone when you are new to the area. I would NEVER recommend this company. I'd rather pay more to Allied which is a much more professional company. I have learned my lesson: you get what you pay for. IF YOU VALUE YOUR BELONGINGS AVOID USING THEM AT ALL COSTS. A SCAM COMPANY. more

reliable and affordable 7/29/2011

I recently used California New York Express Movers to move from San Francisco to New York in June. I was very happy with the whole moving process. The movers were very professional and I received all my things in a timely manner and intact. Customer service was also very friendly and helpful whenever I had questions during the moving process. Also, most importantly, California New York Express was very affordable. Other companies were requesting much more for the same move (almost 1.5-2 x more); it was very surprising that there would be such a large discrepancy. Pods, also, were much more expensive. I would strongly recommend CA-NY Express Movers. It is the best deal for moving from coast to coast in a timely and reliable way and the service is excellent. more

They're One that I want (to move my life from coast 2 coast) 7/19/2011

If you have happened across this co. CA NY Express, well then it is your lucky day. As we all know moving house is one of the most stressful times in a lifetime & there is so much that can go wrong. I am 50 yrs old & have moved 33 times in my life from Canada to NYC to LA & back three times, Dallas, Oklahoma, Scottsdale AZ, Malibu, now heading out to Argentina & Australia, busy folks. Anyhow out of all the moves the one with CA NY Express Moving was BY FAR THE FINEST experience in service, communication, prices, honesty, accountability, quality, courtesy, flexibility & service these guys & gals get a 10 really 11/10. Absolutely not one single complaint only good to better to great. What you see is what you get and their service is top notch & with a smile. On both ends theirs because they all care about their work & are sincere responsible respectable people, & you & I the customer as all our goods arrive safe & sound, in good time & costing less than just about any real moving co. around. These people deserve your business, so if you want to go to sleep at night knowing your life is in good hands then hire this co. these folks. You will be so glad you did. We moved a 2 bedroom apt on the upper west side to Malibu CA (with alot of stuff in fact nearly 1000 cubic feet of stuff) & we packed ourselves as we simply wanted to & the show from pick up to delivery was just under 5K 50% on credit card up front and second half on delivery pay cash or you get a 5% surcharge for CC. they will send bills via email and or hardcopy & fax if you need to submit to co. We were referred to them from good friends moving LA to Manhattan & they are highly particular & they too were one hundred percent pleased. Good to know there are still people you can truly count on. What more can I say. Thanks guys I really appreciate all you've done for us you are stellar beings of the highest calibre. I wish doing ALL business could be this fun, reasonable & efficient. Both crews (in NY and CA) were great! Fast, efficient, and careful! I loved receiving the emails letting me know where the shipment was located. I also appreciated the calls confirming the date and time of arrival. I also liked the call I received the morning of delivery letting me know that the truck was on it's way. more

Made Moving Cross Country on Short Notice a Breeze! 7/11/2011

This was my second move using California New York Express Moving, this time from L.A. to N.C. Since I was moving cross-country in less than a month, I was worried about getting a good deal on such short notice. But after calling several movers and getting some truly outrageous quotes, I called California New York who gave me a reasonable quote and were able to meet my timetable with ease. Best way to move, especially cross country! 6/15/2011

I'm a pretty picky person when it comes to services and I would recommend California New York Express Moving to anyone doing any type of move, especially cross country! Everything was very organized, easy to keep track of and I especially liked the itemized list that let me know everything had arrived. The customer service rep I worked with was very helpful and informative and the movers at both the pick up and drop off were on time, friendly, helpful and very fast and efficient. Nothing was broken or lost in the move and I received it within the time period given to me. I liked receiving the tracking emails of where my shipment was every day and it was cheaper then doing it myself. Using CA/NY Express took a huge load off my mind shipping my belongings across the country. more

THE BEST 5/7/2011

Everything was great. From the first contact I made with Peter Burstyn (I was given his phone and e-mail another happy MoveEast customer) all the way through to delivery, MoveEast was professional and friendly. The trucks look great, and the movers are great. I've actually been frightened by some of the movers I've worked with in the past, but the MoveEast teams are non-threatening. Huge relief to not be freaked out by the moving crew. On the New Jersey side, there was not a parking space in front of the building. The crew found a parking space a block away, and they carried all my boxes down the block to the truck without complaining about it. I was really impressed with this because if I were them I would have been complaining. I really appreciated how carefully both the New Jersey team and the California team lifted up and set down my boxes. Nothing was slammed down or treated roughly. They treated my boxes and belongings with care. This was just great. I also appreciated that the California crew let me count boxes and look over my boxes for damage on the curbside before delivering them up to my apartment. It's clear to me you have it all figured out and run a great service, and have the right people on your team. PS. Poorly wrapped items will be re-boxed by the crew and you will be charged a materials fee, so take the time to wrap it right. I thought it was 100% fair that some of my items were given a proper shipping box. I had some of my stuff in shopping bags, which would spill all over the truck if tipped over. more

Recommend Highly 5/4/2011

I have only good things to say about California New York Express. They did exactly what they said. We had a very small load (mostly personal items from a small NY apartment) to be moved to LA. They treated us just as well as if we had a large amount of goods to move. They showed up on time at both ends. Their staff was courteous, professional, careful and efficient. They kept in constant touch and let us know where our things were, and were great at answering any questions. The cost was exactly as they estimated. I was very nervous about everything because we had to do it on such short notice (less than 1 week). They made it stress free. more

A super positive experience with California New York Express 4/14/2011

We just moved from N California to the east coast and used California New York Express movers. Like most people before such a long journey, we did some research before we finally chose CNYE. It has a good reputation, offers professional custom service and their quotes to us were very detailed and reasonable. Best yet, CNYE also provides up to 30 days of free storage which gives us more options. Their moving stuff at pickup and delivery were super efficient and handling was careful too. All boxes and furniture arrived in perfect condition. Each box was marked clearly at the departure and checked off at delivery so nothing would be missed. We also loved their daily update emails that told us where our items were that undoubtedly gave us the peace of mind we desperately need during the hectic coastal moving. Overall, we are very satisfied with their service! more
