Had a misfortune of hiring CB Lucas to replace a module in Trane system XV-80. The estimate was not free, as advertised, part failed three weeks later. CB Lucas rejected Trane field service representative (FSR) service to validate his new recommendation (replacing motor and module). Motor was running and still is running. The replacement module (checking if it was refurbished or genuine) failed. However, in the area of arrogance and verbal abuse CB Lucas is excelling. I am recommending using manufacturing FSR every time CB Lucas works on your system. more

It's never fun when your A/C gives out in the middle of the summer. Thankfully, the guys from C.B. Lucas gave us a good deal on a new system (which we verified with an estimate from another company), and had it installed three days later, which seems almost miraculous at this time of year (August 3rd). The best part was that the whole time my wife and I were dealing with them, from Doug, who came out to diagnose our problem and gave us the estimates, to Mike Lucas, who we worked out the details with, to Cody and Tony, who did the installation, we always felt like we were dealing with honorable people whom we could trust, and we haven't been let down. Not to mention the fact that Doug, Cody, and Tony were collectively punctual, courteous, friendly, and the work they did was done with obvious attention to detail, including fixing some minor issues from the previous installation that weren't their problem, but just made things better for us. My heater went out early spring and I started calling around for estimates. Lucky for me it was not too cold and I did not have to make a decision on the spot. I was able to call several companies, have them come out and give me estimates. CB Lucas gave me BY FAR the best price and provided great service. My house is quite large and only has 1 zone heat, they recommended for just a little more they could work with the damper system, install additional dampers and give me another zone upstairs with another thermostat. Boy, am I glad they suggested that to me. This should save me quite a bit in my utility bills and I love it. The technician was here when they said, was very professional and had the system installed with no problems. They also suggested for just a little more, and I mean little, that I could upgrade the warranty to 10 years part and labor. That was a no brainer to me. C B Lucas installed a new Trane Air and Heating System in my home. I received estimates from 6 different companies and they were the lowest in offering all the key things I wanted in my new system. Although my current system was operational, I thought it was time for an upgrade, and the new system qualified for the $1,500.00 tax credit. The technician answered all my questions and even showed me how to program the thermostat, change the filter and register the warranty. I noticed my electric bill has gone down, and this is the hotest part of the year. My house is cooler now and I would definitely recommend C B Lucas. more

Well prepared estimate and service 9/3/2010

We obtained three price quotes to replace our heat pump, air handler, and water heater; the event was not an emergency replacement. C B Lucas was recommended by a neighbor. Of the three, Mr. Mike Lucas, C B Lucas Air Conditioning, Dumfries, VA was the most honest in preparing his estimate. One of the first questions he asked was if our existing, but older, 3 ton heat pump was keeping up with our 100 degree days. I said, "yes." His response was, "You don't need a bigger unit." His was the second price quote we obtained. The other two contractors, neither of whom asked that very important question, recommended larger systems $$$.\r \r The installation team from C. B. Lucas was on time and worked professionally and very courteously. more

I contacted CB Lucas due to a blown heat pump. I had a 5 year old Rheem 2 ton unit that grounded out. They responded immediately, made a recommendation for a Trane change out and in 3 business days, my system was put in. Upon reviewing costs with 3 other companies, CB Lucas was lower. The technicians were professional and pleasant and I was impressed with the customer service. They took time to answer questions, program my new thermostat and were overall friendly,knowledgable and responsive. They informed me to call and consult with any questions and I couldn't have been more pleased. They made this difficult experience easy and sterss-free. Kudos to the CB Lucas crew!!! I would recommend this service to anyone in the northern and central VA region. more

The administrative assistant must be a relative or something and is ignorant and really can't answer any question, she was reading to me the exact wording on my service sheet- I told her I could read what was on there and she said she wasn't a technician and she'd have a technician call me back. Well, a technician never called me back but the Service Manager did call me back- Wayne Lucas. This guy is a real piece of work! Could be the rudest person I have ever talked to. He basically placed the blame on everything but the work they did and said they could come out and fix it but for a fee. (The issue was just serviced by them a month ago so I thought they should fix it for free). Bad Cutomer Service 1/28/2010

Was not responsive to my follow-up phone call a week after a service call. We found out our AC was out of service. Would cost 2k to repair or 4.6 K to replace. We told the repairman we would wait until spring since we did not need the AC until then. Repairman did not think to tell us that the heat - normally running off the heat pump would be running off of emergency elctric heat. When our electric bill more than doubled we tried to call to find out if the broken heat pump could be affecting the price of electric and we wanted another option for the system they quoted for our rental home. Phone call and discussion was made on Monday. I called back on Wed. They had no knowledge of my call on Monday and had to repeat my story. Owner called me late Wednesday afternoon and had to tell the story again. He called back Thursday morning and told me he researched it and we should just go with the system that was quoted - no other options, Was also told that it was not a big deal that more

Installed a "new" damaged unit 7/13/2008

C. B. Lucas installed three Goodman units at our new home construction approximately a year and a half ago. One unit we have had them out three times for various problems. The first two times fell under the one year warranty, the last did not. The technician told us that we had a leak and I needed to pay them to find the leak and then additional fee for freon. I grumbled about their prohibitive cost for a leak check and declined. The technician was slightly rude and basically told us too bad, the one year was up. I had them do a freon fill until I could find another company.\r \r Twelve days later, we had no air from the unit. Fed up with the attitude of C. B. Lucas' representative, I called another a/c company to come out and service the unit. The technician has found that the unit is damaged and since nothing has been near the unit (and it is the middle unit of three) the damage was done PRIOR to installation.\r \r Lucas' technician said NOTHING about the coils or any severe dent more

Outstanding service 12/26/2006

C.B. Lucas technician performed troubleshooting for an equipment installation performed 6 months earlier.\r The technician located multiple errors in the initial installation and resolved other issues which should not have been there in the first place.\r The technician made me feel as though I was the only customer that he had to deal with that day (I knew better) and he did not rush through any of the necessary steps to resolve my problems.\r The technician has the able to "adapt and overcome" and think on his feet.\r He also made sure that the "work site" was at least as clean as it was when he arrived and removed his shoes when he entered my home. \r I was very pleased with the maintenance performed in my home.\r The maintenance included electrical, mechanical, and plumbing work.\r Yes, I do recommend C. Not the friendliest 4/10/2006

I had to call CB Lucas to fix a problem with the heat in our house. They were the contractors who installed it on our house that was built. I was not happy with the way that I was treated, I guess they did not want to cover anything under warranty. They came out several times but kept saying they could not find a problem. They were rude to me, rude to my husband and cost me alot of ime away from work. Maybe this was just one bad experience, but I would not use them again. more
