I was looking for affordable haircutting place in the Village , and I found a great Hairstylist in NYC. I feel that a hair cut and color does not have to cost a fortune! I ask the receptionist for the best hairdresser, so I could have my haircut in Color done. I found Alan , he is a approachable , simple guy with a touch that will make you feel , and of course LOOK GREAT Very talented hair stylist! Worthy the 100 dollars and much more. Pros: I found in Astor a great artist ! Cons: cash only more

I like to cut my hair with scissors . I came in and my girlfriend ask the guy at the door, for the best haircutter. This nice men at the entrance door , told us to talk with Alan. He assured us he was the Best hairstylist. in the Salon??? Between so many people, he send us to ALAN ? My girl friend let me go first... ( of course she wants to see if this recommendation was on the money using me as a ginny pig ... ha ha. Alan is great! Joanna got her haircut right after me. I came and he told me just that! When Alan finish with my hair color, I was amazed. Verry cool person, great stylist and a very simple person! He looks like an artist, and later I found out he is an artist! He cut my hair like no other. I liked so, and I think people deserve to know about him. I am a big fan of Luigi at Astor Hair. I have been using him for many many years and I am always satisfied. He is the best I know of for really nice mens haircuts! He is a nice guy who works hard. I will never go to one of those over-priced, over-hyped salons again! Not when you have someone as great as Rita at the very affordable Astor Place. Okay, so its not the best looking place around, it is a bit grungy, but when you are in Rita's chair nothing else really matters. Rita gets tons of great feedback on all the review websites, thats how I discovered her. I may not have a way with words like some others, but all my experiences with Rita the past few months have been great! She designs really cool haircuts and she is basically what you would call an expert colorist. This girl has made me beautiful time and time again! No reason to go anywhere else once you find a diamond in the rough! Rita is that diamond! She is also personable, smart and very patient which are important qualities to have. I can Only get so many hairecuts at a time but I like it at Asetore Place. They sent me too Pulo and he work my hair in great! I even lik his pants! I may get them too,,,I went int here not knowing what I come out with, but it looks fine! My ear and hair is alll even and straight and smells goodto! Now i have place i go again,,,and nex time maybe a shave and wash or other. doesn't cost much at all.Thisbarber is best i think, thank godfor this. it will be next year soon and I go back sure! Astor Place has the best stylist going, It's Rita! You want impress people in your office or want to get a little extra attention on date night, It's time to make an appoinment with Rita! The girl is magic and has an amazing energy about here.....and oh so very talented! I have been to all the others and never been really happy with my hair. I guess my research paid off because I found Rita! I am pretty particular about my looks - I want what I want, but Rita helped me to achieve the look I wanted and made me feel comfortable doing it. If you want the best cut, style, color, and highlights see Rita. She creates looks which are trendy but definitely unique and brilliantly done. You won't look like every other girl walking the street and thats a good thing. When my family and friends saw me recently, they almost fell over! Compliments through the roof. I recently sent my entire bridal party to her for a girls day of beauty! WE all love Rita, you will too! She is very busy so you can't usually just walk in, but she is worth the wait. I would like to add another very positive review here about Rita. I know she gets many and all well deserved. She is without a doubt the most talented stylist Manhattan has to offer! I go to Rita for EVERYTHING - haircuts, color and even her "sunny highlights" that everyone raves about. Rita is more like an artist than a stylist who takes such pride in her work and always goes to great lengths to make sure her clients are fully satisfied. Besides myself, I have referred at least a half a dozen friends to her who all rave about her talents and upbeat, friendly attitude. I can honestly say, all of us have never looked better! Because of my job, I always need to be on top of my game as far as my look is concerned and Rita has been a blessing to keep me at my absolute best. As if being incredible at cuts and color weren't enough, she even does facials and specialty makeovers in her private room which is cute and cozy! I am happy to say I just experienced one of her amazing facials and I can't believe how great it made me look and feel! It was so relaxing and envigorating! It really is an experience to be pampered that way. Cuts, color, highlights, facials, makeovers - Rita is tops! She is talented, professional and a sweet heart. I will not let anyone else but Rita touch my hair ever again! You will love her because all her clients do and we could not live without her! Alan is a very nice person, and much more then that, he listen to me, and stay with me all the time he was doing my hair. I was very happy with the way Alan took the time to color and cut my hair .He did something different, he uses this new technique, where you get few hi-lights and color at the same time. Usually people color my hair, wash, and then hi lighted my hair. My girlfriend and me got our hair done, back to back, we both got color , he made us feel great. We love it! Try many , so call Stars, hairdressers, that call themselves, the best. I am always caution when I heard people talk about super star hairdressers... Alan is most docile, sweet person. He looks like an Artist, and he is an artist. The way he uses this hi lighted acrylic board to do my hair is amazing. He gets my hair , in the roots No one ever done that to my hair. I assure you he will get your hi lights the long lasting affect. Great manner, fun , and a true professional. You will feel his experience it shows! Try it for your self. Art. I am a gallery owner, and a fashion designer. I see Alan time to time at Astor Place in the Village. I just love him and I think he is the most professional Hairdresser/colorist I ever encounter. I am going to Chicago see my family and I need to see Alan for my hi lights and hair cut on sunday, I have dar hair, and he always make my hair look natural. I always love it! After the color, Alan gave me the Keratin Treatment, I wanted to get. This is the treatment everyone that has over process/ frizz hair, needs to get it done. My hair is shine, soft, and has a feeling , I always wanted! Alan really knows his craft! he is an artist! Even though if known about Astor place hair for years I never ventured in until a little over a year ago. A girl friend got a very cool looking haircut and I asked where? She said ya know that place in Astor Place? Well in disbelief I got the name of her hairstylist there and 2,4,6 went in and got an expensive salon like haircut from Rita. Not only have I been going back to Rita once a month for over a year now but she's also become a pal. She's such cool lady, so much fun to be around and also is a master of her craft! She will give you the best hairstyling you've ever had and the best part is even though she could charge $100 or more because she's in Astor Place you won't be charged me than $20- $25 tops! So go see her if you're in the neighborhood and go see her even if you're not. She's that good! more

I will admit I am a little picky and definitely tough to please in most aspects of my life. My friends joke around that I am even quite stuck up at times. That's just me I guess, you can love me or leave me, right? Anyway, I had been very unhappy lately with my stylist who works at one those uptown stuffy salons who will remain nameless. Two of my best girlfriends have been going to Astor Hair of all places and to tell you the truth, they have been looking quite stunning since going there. What gives girls? They told me I should try their stylist, Rita, who has been making them look so good. They said, she's the best and even "you" will love her. Okay, sure I'll bite I said. Well, they were right, Rita is everything they said. I know I can intimidate people at times because I do come across as snobby, but Rita broke me down and won me over in no time flat. I have been getting my hair done in The City for 25 years and she more talented and more astute than anyone I've gone too. The girl knows her stuff! She also impressed me with her intelligence and knowledge - Boy did I get some nice beauty tips! I now have an adorable, stylish haircut that took years off my face. She color corrected my old boring color and gave me a rich new base color - I look like I have the hair of a college kid and I am in my early fifties. I was very surprised to find out she is a licensed cosmetologist and does makeovers and facials too. She has her own cute makeover room within that dusty little place. I am definitely getting both for an upcoming dinner party, I trust her implicitly! So thats my story kids. You want great beauty, you go see Rita plain and simple. My hair is off the charts gorgeous and I have Rita to thank for making me beautiful! Just in time for the Holiday too, Yay! I had tried Astor Place once before a couple of years ago and I wasn?t completely satisfied so I never went back, but I decided to give it another shot because I was tired of going from salon to salon. I heard and read so many wonderful things about Rita that I just had to see what all the buzz was about. Now I know from experience why she is the bomb and why her many clients return over and over. Rita is a terriffic stylist who does everything - the latest in cuts, color, gorgeous highlights and even amazing facials. She has taken 10 years off my face. I don't know how she did it but you can't argue with the results. I could not be any more happy with what she's done for me! Can you tell I'm gushing? She also has an energy about her that is so unique and refreshing. She is truly gifted and she gives you personalized attention that us New Yorkers really need, lol! ;-). I had a great time, and I also haid my hair cut and few hi lights . I never color my hair before, I have a dark brow hair, and I needed something in the front, around my face... Alan recomended the new Moca Hair color, that make my hair look amazing.I was concern, because I had hilights before, and they were very very blond, . Now I know what to ask for!! I have finally found a stylist I can trust! Rita at Astor Place turned my lifeless mop top into a gorgeous, flowing head of beautful hair! She is pretty darn amazing really. I called Astor Place after reading all of Rita's incredible reviews and feedback. Just to make sure, I asked the guy answering the phone to recommend someone who is an expert at cuts, color, and creating new "looks" because, I really needed a change. The Holidays are here and I needed to look my best for my office party and family get togethers.The man on the phone said very directly, "You need to go to Rita". Sounded good to me. As soon as I walked in on the day of my appoinment I knew I was in the right hands. Rita looks like a professional stylist, she is beautiful and well dressed, but also carries herself perfectly. In fact, looking around the place she was the only one who looked and acted that way. She really stood out from the other stylists for many reasons, it's as simple as that. As soon as we started speaking she put me at ease, no pressure at all, just a confidence in her talents. I now have witnessed first hand why she is the best of the best. By the way, she is the only stylist at Astor Place who has her own private room which she has for specialized facials and full makeovers. She is also the only one there who has an assistant, imagine that! I learned Rita came from TV and Movies so she has touched many famous faces over the years. I been looking for a stylist and I went over to Astyor place, after looking in this reviews... ai stand around for a wile , and I look the way this people work. I decide to have Alan cut my hair. I just took few minutes , before I ask for him to color and cut my hair. I am not sure about anything until I see people working. I don't believe in reviews. So girl and boys, ASK , when you come in , who is the best haircuter, ( they will tell you who is the best , like they told me) I try Rita with crazy prices, and very nice "Rock star reviews, no way I go back to her.)
