Rita saved my hair! 11/28/2008

I have really long hair that was butchered by another hairdresser at another salon. I read about the miracles that Rita creates, so I decided to give her a try - I felt like what did I have to lose? I am so happy I trusted her to save my hair. She made me feel so comfortable and helped me feel like I was in control of my look. She has a real gift and is defintely a life saver. She deep conditioned my hair, redesigned it, and by the time she dried it, I already felt like a new person! I now have the look and style I have always wanted. I have already recommended 4 of my friends to her and we are all loving Rita and our hair! All I can say is thanks a million for making me feel and look beautiful again. You're our hair-apist! Creative looks by Rita at Astor Place! 11/28/2008

I needed a new overall look for my audition and wanted to look like a polished version of myself. I found Rita from Astor Place on Citysearch and decided to meet with her so she could design a hair and makeup look for me. There are lterally dozens of great reviews about her here and other feedback sites as well. This girl totally blew me away! Not only does she have the most beautiful, positive energy, but she is unbelievingly talented. I walked out of there looking and feeling like a star! I have already booked her for three upcoming gala's I am attending and look forward to visiting with her again. She is not only the single most talented person you will ever come in contact with, she really has integrity and actually loves making you look and feel the most attrative you can be. Whether you need a just simple haircut, new base color and highlights or a full makeover, Rita is the best at them all! Jose and Benny at Astor Place 11/28/2008

This is a great place to get a haircut in New York. It is a uniquely New York place. Every type of person you can imagine will be there at any time. The barbers are all friendly and very international. I highly recommend Jose and Benny. I've had my hair cut by a half dozen guys there, but Jose and Benny are the best. I have difficult hair, and they've done the best job with it that I've had. more

I went to Rita at Astor by searching for a new hairdresser on Citysearch. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY HAIR!!! She color -corrected my old highlights and updated my hair without cutting off my length. I don't exactly know how she did it, but my hair looks longer, is healthier, and is LUSCIOUS! I really cannot believe that I look this good after just one time with my new hair person, but Rita, you are Truly MAGICAL! And her assistant Iris is a fantastic addition to Astor...Go Girls! Thanks a million for making me beautiful and HAPPY! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND RITA TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO LOOK THEIR BEST AND FEEL WONDERFUL!!! I'm sold and will be back! We are so LUCKY to have Rita at Astor! 11/24/2008

I have been going to Rita at Astor for 8 months now, and let me tell you, SHE ROCKS! Not only is she the BEST hair person in the industry, she is amazing at makeup, facials and getting your look in check. I should know-- I was out of work and she helped update my overall look for less money and time than I have ever seen! She has integrity and will not talk you into buying things and processes--she will actually tell you to SIMPLIFY your beauty routine so it will be cost effective as well as easy to do so you can be your absolute best. Rita has literally saved me cash and made me and all of my friends believe in her and her concept- that looking like Park Ave. doesn't have to cost a fortune. Her beauty advice is UNBEATABLEI I recently enrolled in Realsavvymoms to get her beauty advice newsletters-- and everything she writes about health and beauty is TRUE! I actually have a real celeb beauty expert doing my hair and makeup! She is honest and real- unlike all of the others I have been to who want to sell you products and services you don't need. Rita is a 10 Star rating! 11/24/2008

I have been going to Rita at Astor Place for cuts and color for quite some time now and I feel lucky and blessed to know such a talented and all around wonderful person. She is not just a stylist who can work anywhere she chooses - Rita is more like an artist who takes such pride in her work and always goes to great lengths to make sure her clients are fully satisfied. Besides myself, I have referred at least a half a dozen friends to her who are all ecstatic with her talents and the fact she has a heart of gold. I can honestly say, all of us have never looked better! I am a woman in the business world and I always need to be on top of my game as far as my look is concerned and Rita has been a blessing for me to keep me at my absolute best. As if being incredible at cuts and color weren't enough, she has even recently added specialized Reiki facials and full makeovers to her services in her private room! I am happy to say I just experienced one of her amazing facials and I can't believe how great it made me look and feel! It was so relaxing and envigorating - I am positively glowing! It really is an experience to be pampered that way. Cuts, color, highlights, facials, makeovers - Rita excels at everything she does! She is pure magic and class. What Can I say people are talking about Alan and his craft... 11/24/2008

I first came to this site to find a good professional . But I want to make sure everyone knows about Alan. So after looking at the great reviews in here I decide to go to Astor place and I must say I love it ! You can stand around and see how people works... so I was paying attention to Alan ( I love guys to cut my hair) and some other girls.... I came to the conclusion that he has what it takes. He knows how to precision cut, and he has techniques that really caught my attention. So after watching all the people that got good reviews in this site ( I have a very wave , long hair) and love my hair color , hi lighted and straight and, just like every one else ; I am bragging about him. Best hi lights, and I am so glad I got the keratin treatment. 11/24/2008

I came to Astor Hair , for a cut and Hi Lights two weeks ago , with Alan. He was recommended by my coworker who is also my friend. Alan is a Brazilian Hairdresser, and you can surely feel the difference his experience shows. Girls I am always concern when I try a new hairdresser. specially in a place like Astor Hair, ( this is a famous place, and you see all the pictures of celebrities getting their hair cut, all over the walls... So , despite the fact of this is a " very lay back " place , I was, " so happy with my Hi Lights , and fabulous hair cut, that I came back yesterday and got my hair treated with the Brazilian Keratin, ( Alan gives a huge discount for the color clients for the Keratin Treatment) . A must have for dry frizz hair. I am bringing my mother next week. quality works , talented artist.. Go see ALAN. Pros: FEEL THE DIFFERENCE HIS EXPERIENCE SHOWS ! I am proud to be one Rita's many happy clients at Astor Place! She is without a doubt the most professional and talented stylist I have ever been to and I have been to almost a dozen salons all over Manhattan. Once you find someone as great as Rita who does everything brilliantly, you will never let anyone else touch your hair again. She is always upbeat and friendly and her cuts and color are truly cutting edge. Rita is real artist and when you leave her chair you know you have been to someone very special who takes real pride in their work. Rita and Astor Place are a winner! 11/21/2008

Convenience, affordability and a world-class stylist is all you could ask for in a salon and I found all 3 at Astor Place Hair. I decided to give Astor a shot because I was tired of bouncing around from place to place. I heard and read so many wonderful things about Rita that I just had to see what all the fuss was about. Now I know first hand why she gets all these glowing reviews and why her clients come back to her again and again! Rita is a wonderful stylist who does everything you could hope for ? cuts, color, gorgeous highlights and even amazing facials. No one should be allowed to be this talented! She puts you at total ease and simply lets her talent take over. Rita has real passion for what she does and her personality and energy makes it a total joy just to sit in her chair and become beautiful. I could not give her any higher marks then to say she has a client for life and I will be sending many friends and family members her way. Followed recommendations 11/20/2008

So I have been looking for an affordable hair stylist in Manhattan. I was leery of coming to Astor Hair. Its an old, grimy, barbershop with nearly a hundred stations with stylists running around. I called to book an appointment with Rita since she has so many recommendations on this site. She fit me in a few days later. I got there and met her assistant, Iris, who was very nice and washed my hair. She was backed up so I waited about half an hour while she cut 3 people's hair before mine. It didn't take long and her and Iris were both communicating about the wait. I would recommend bringing a book. When it was my turn she was attentive and talked about what would work for me. I'm very happy with the cut and would come back again since it was so affordable ($40 for the wash, cut and style). I would recommend her again. Pros: Quick, Affordable Cons: crazy atomosphere, old and not kept up. more

Go to Rita, NY's #1 stylist! 11/12/2008

I have now been going to Astor Place regularly for quite a while now because I happen to think the best stylist in the Manhattan works there. Her name is Rita and she is wonderful. I am so happy to have found her! Her haircuts are trendy, yet completely original. Her color and highlights are to die for. In fact, I would call her an EXPERT colorist. Her highlights are life changing. She is also sweet and funny and makes you feel really good about yourself. I have easily sent 3 or 4 friends her way and they all think Rita is just unbelievable. I want to tell everyone I know just how great and cool she is! Let's face it, great hair is everything and Rita will give you the look you want for any situation. If you are going to give Astor Place a try for the first time, make sure you ask for her cause she is most definitely the best out there! more

Rita at Astor Place Hair was recommended to me by two of my best friends who both go to her and have been raving about her talents and super-friendly demeanor. My hair and entire look because of Rita is at an all time high and the compliments I have been getting is a nice confidence booster! Some stylists are good at one thing, Rita is GREAT at everything! Whatever you need, whether its just a little tweaking with a cute haircut or a full color and highlight transformation, Rita shines! I have to say, her color and highlights are pure works of art and will really make you stand out! She really has an amazing rapport with all her clients who come back to her again and again, we all just LOVE her! She also does incredible facials in her private room that are completely exhilarating and relaxing. What more can I say? The worst cut ever 11/9/2008

I was hopeful going in given the good reviews and my tight budget. But this is seriously the worst haircut I've ever had. i asked for 2 inches to be taken off and got about 5 taken off. The chair I was in was so low that I couldn't see what was going on. The hairdresser cut my bangs uneven and when I asked her to fix them she argued with me... as if my bangs being 1/2" longer on one side was an opinion. She " fixed" them, but I still had to fix them myself when I got home. She seemed annoyed that I wanted my hair dried before I left and only dried it partially. The product she used in my hair was a brand you can pick up at Rite Aid, and I think I got charged extra for it! I love a bargain, but this was a complete waste of $20. more

I come into NYC from Suburbia NJ to the Superstar of Astor Place Hair, Rita. Rita is the best & most professional any where in the world. I would follow Rita to the ends of the earth. So now let me tell you what happened to me to make me such a big fan of Rita. I had the most incredible make over ever; not only do I look great & beautiful, I feel even better. Rita worked her magic on me and gave me a new look & new attitude. Rita makes your makeup look natural and teaches you how to look incredible every day.
