I used to go to Sarra years ago and finally found her again at Astor Place Hair. She is as amazing now as she was back then! I highly recommend Sarra for guys cuts, I will now keep on going to her since she is the best I have ever used. Yay Sarra! more

My first experience at Astor Place Hair was a really really good one thanks to Rita, who is a fantastic stylist with a great attitude and superior beauty skills. I was very apprehensive at first about trying a new salon and stylist, but Rita was highly recommended to me by my friend who has gone to her 3 or 4 times before and has very nice things to say about her. I must say her hair has never looked better. I first spoke to Rita on the phone before I even met her so I could let her know what hairstyle I was looking for and if she could help me. She was very polite and courteous on the phone answering all of my questions, no problem. I felt really good about setting an appoinment with her and getting a great new cut like my friend. Rita is very popular and very busy, but she is patient has a really great rapport with her clients which I feel is very important. Well, I must say Rita turned out to better than I could have ever hoped for! She is extremely talented, articulate and funny too! I had a good time conversing with her and my hair came out so cool and gorgeous! She knew exactly what I wanted and I left there feeling that I finally found someone I could go to again and again! The very next time I saw her I went for a complete base color transformation and some of her amazing highlights which is her specialty. Wow, is all I can say!!! I have never been complimented so often on my hair! I am a new and improved woman thanks to Rita! I would feel comfortable sending anyone I know to her. After a disastrous haircut at Bumble & Bumble, I was looking for someone who could not only fix it but also give me a great haircut. I am extremely particular about my haircuts and generally appreciate hair stylists who understand their clients needs and also have creative insights. After reading a million great reviews about Rita, I decided to go for a haircut with her. I must confess, the Astor Place is not exactly a trendly looking salon, and was in half a mind to go back. But went ahead with it anyway and am very glad that I did. Rita is totally fabulous! She understood what I wanted and gave me something even better. This lovely guy at the door, Mike, told me if, I want to get the best haircut, color, I must, go with Alan. I say ; great! But I will not take anybody's word just like that. I been there before, trusting fake reviews ... ... I am so glad I had Alan, who later I found out he was Brazilian, doing my hair. My hair is a bit longer of shoulders , and I told him I only can afford 125 dollars, for cut and hi lights... He did the most beautiful hairstyle I ever had done , in a very long time.... , Oh , about my friend; she wasn't very impress with her color .... She loved my, and she ask Alan for his card. First of all I just want to say that I know about hair. My mother it's a hairdresser, and I work in her salon. So when someone color or cut my hair, Immediately know , what I am getting... I move to NY about 6 months ago, to attend school at NYU. Immediately start looking for a place to get my hair done, I need it done professionally and affordably. I look at this site and I was impress with some of reviews. I try one of the girls, and It was Ok. I came back 2 months later to see her, and they told me she wasn't in. They send me to Alan ... I am amazed ! Alan used his tools, so beautifully , so professionally , and he works with a nice technique . If you want your hair to be Ok, don't go with Alan. I am a russian studant at NYU, and came to ghet my hair hiligheted and also, got the keratin treatment. It took me 3 hours, ... I am very happy ! Who would of thought that Astor Place has the best stylist in the City - It's Rita and she is unreal! Luckily I discoverd Rita a few months ago because her name kept popping up eveywhere on the review sites. Her expertise is superior to anyone else I have ever been to. She also has an amazing energy about her that I really like. I am pretty particular about my looks, but Rita helped me to achieve the look I wanted and made me feel comfortable doing it. Rita even looks like a professional stylist, she is beautiful and well dressed and carries herself perfectly. She knows exactly what she's doing and is very confident in her abilities. Rita is the only stylist at Astor Place who has her own private room which she has for specialized facials and full makeovers. She is also the only one there who has a personal assistant so that really tells you something. She does everything REALLY well, especially highlights, wow she's good! If you go to Astor Place Hair for the first time make sure you ask for her, you will be so thrilled that you will never go to anyone else.
