Wonderful Food, & Experience! I love this place

Worst

I know that this place is a landmark, However, i do not know what the big deal is. I have eaten there 3 times, and I always come away saying ""I've had better"". The food is OK, ...

Not impressed! With what we forked out we expected more! One can easily drop one bill if drinking water. I can cook a better steak at home. I agree with most in that the service is outstanding but the overall price is not worth it when the food is average. Av food + great service= average. more

Glad Someone Else Paid... 3/30/2003

We recently went to Angus Barn for a business dinner...I sure am glad I didn't have to pay! The atmosphere is nice, but the food was so-so for the $1500 bill. I ordered the filet/shrimp combo with asparagus. The filet had NO flavor, the shrimp had to be smothered with drawn butter and the asparagus wasn't cooked at all. For over $40, this was unacceptable. The service wasn't a reedeming factor...we had to practically beg for coffee and the manager on duty was quite rude. We will not be back. Pros: private room Cons: expensive, mediocre service, poor food quality more

A+ Restaurant 2/15/2003

I have eaten at the Angus Barn many times and I can honestly say I have always left there completely satisfied with everything they have to offer. I have always received prompt and friendly service. The filet, ribs, and soft shell crabs are to die for. Anyone who doesn't like the food here must not have taste buds. The best part is the absence of haughty and unappreciative attitudes! Pros: atmosphere, food, service Cons: pricey more

where's the beef 2/11/2003

This was my first time. I was very disapointed in the promptness at which we were seated. we did have reservations at 930pm. I also was expecting more of a formal atmosphere than the ""kmart"" table cloths. more

Angus barn owns me 1/29/2003

I went there for my birthday and the food was delicious. The steaks were soo big and sooo tasty. They also had fresh seafood. I dont think that anyone doesnt like that restaurant. I know vegetarians that love it, so it's not just for meat eaters. Pros: Great Beef, Fresh food, Good service Cons: Expensive but worth more

Great Everytime! 1/24/2003

My husband and I go to the Angus Barn on special occasions. Though the food is expensive, it is well worth it!! Would recommend making reservations or arriving when the dining room opens. Pros: great food, prompt service more

over rated 1/18/2003

didn't see what all the hype was about. was expecting this outstanding place for aged steaks, and got more of just another resturant out there. Pros: food, service Cons: parking more

Never Seated 1/18/2003

We went on an off night with hardly any customers. Hostess promised a 15-25 min. wait maximium. After 1 hour 15 min. of waiting, we asked the hostess how much longer and she nastily replied another 15-20min. We promptly left disappointed and hungry. We will never return nor will we ever recommend. Cons: rude staff, overrated, long wait for nothing more

PERFECT SERVICE AND FOOD EVERY TIME 1/13/2003

EAT THERE ABOUT 5 TIMES A YEAR. HAVE YET TO HAVE BAD SERVICE OR FOOD. ALWAYS LEAVE FEELING LIKE I GOT MY MONEY WORTH. more

A longing for taste! 1/13/2003

The Angus Barn has the most delightful atmosphere of any resturant I have been in and food that melts in your mouth. My daughters live in NC and my son-in-law took my husband and I to eat there once. I have been to a lot of places to eat ( my husband was a career Navy man) but this place is heavenly. I love Prime Rib and it is so tender you could cut with fork. Every time I visit my daughter that lives in Raleigh I have to pass the Angus Barn on Hwy 70 going to her house and I start dreaming. Pros: good parking, crowded Cons: , inexpensive more

Angus Barn--Overrated 1/13/2003

My wife and I dined at the Angus Barn on a Thursday night for our anniversary. We had not been there before and decided to try it to see if it lived up to the hype. It did not. The service was top notch, but the steaks were about the same that you would expect to receive at Golden Corral. They had a poor taste and texture, as if they had been frozen. As I said, the service is great, but don't waste your hard earned money. Pros: service Cons: food more

Full tummy, empty wallet 1/12/2003

The steaks (and everything else) is superb. But it had better be!! But you'd better take out a second mortgage or an equity loan to afford a meal. Despite the high quality, Angus Barn is horribly overprices. Just count the Lexus', Mercedes and Beemers in the parking lot. Pros: Service, Quality, Standards Cons: Price, Value more

Overpriced Poor Service 1/10/2003

Last time I went there, the waiter was rude and the food came out cold and undercooked. more

""Cattle Call"" 1/8/2003

The Angus Barn is a Triangle institution, but it has succumbed to the ""get 'em in and get 'em out"" mentality which makes dining there an unpleasant experience. They plop a steak on your plate, which is rarely (no pun intended) cooked the way you order it, throw on a handfull of mundane veggies that would interest only a two-year old, and five minutes later the server apprears with your check and ask's, ""Is there anything else I can get for you this evening?"" And does the place have to be as noisy as a barn? You can't hear yourself think above the din and the busboys crashing empty dishes into plastic containers as they clear the tables. No thank's Angus Barn. I'm mooooooooving on to better restaurants. more

Expensive for a barn 1/7/2003

The food is average but the setting is fantastic. A wonderful atmosphere and a great bar doesn't make up for unventful and overpriced food. Pros: Nice place, Great Bar, Good Service Cons: Expensive, Food could be better, Too big to feel cozy more

The Best-Absolutely!!!!! 1/5/2003

My husband and I went to the Angus Barn for our 30th anniversary. My steak had some sinew and I told the section hostess. Before I knew what had happened-my plate was taken, profuse apologies were made. Ballons were brought, a gift bag, a new steak-perfectly done and no charge! They were great and very sincere about their apologies. We can't wait to go back. Pros: loved the building, great staff, great food Cons: go early, food is expensive, can be noisy more

Great time 1/3/2003

Service is great ,nice causual atmosphere and not a chain restaurant Pros: service, atmosphere, taste more

Standby 12/20/2002

There are better steakhouses in Raleigh with regard to location, atmosphere and fare but this is a place you must entertain at least once. That is if you can stand the RTP crowd that gathers occasionally. Pros: Location, Atmosphere, Good Bar Cons: Seating, price vs. food more

Angus Barn is the best 12/19/2002

I always have an awesome time at the Barn. The service is excellent and I have always full before the main course is even served. Pros: excellent service, excellent food, kid friendly more

ho-hum 12/18/2002

My 2nd trip to the Angus Barn was just like the first, except... I'd been there once before. It was a neat place to visit the first time, but it wore off after that. The prime Rib was pretty good, but not all the orders were right. The kids food was wrong, and the place is pretty open and loud. I guess if it keeps the father-in-law happy to go, once a year is ok. I think over the years it has lost some of its charm and personality. more
