Wonderful Food, & Experience! I love this place

Worst

I know that this place is a landmark, However, i do not know what the big deal is. I have eaten there 3 times, and I always come away saying ""I've had better"". The food is OK, ...

Excellent eats!! 8/11/2002

This place is pretty pricy, but for a special occasion or a once in a while treat (for the average person), it's well worth it. Service is out of this world and so is the food. You get large portions, so save room for the chess pie or cappuchino cheesecake - they're fabulous!!! Pros: Cheese and crackers, Food, Service Cons: Can get crowded more

great rep bland food! 8/8/2002

I enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was GREAT! But. . .and there is always a but the food was bland! This steak house has a rep' for the wonderful steaks but that's all it needs to have a rep for. If your purpose is for steaks then this is the place to go. I'm happy with OUTBACK! more

Awesome 8/1/2002

Absolute favorite restaurant....the Valet Man is so super nice! You feel like a star from the start! Excellent service, love the casual/elegant/rustic environment...for special occassions it is an absolute must! No al a carte...everything is included...the cheese and crackers to start off with are even amazing! Absolutely have nothing but positive things to say...for 2 we normally spend right at $100 but it is worth every penny! Pros: great staff, wonderful food, amazingly good Cons: none!! Love it! more

Not the steak 7/31/2002

I've eaten here many times, and have always been disapointed with the steak. They put a ton of butter on the filet and wrap it in bacon. Now I like butter and bacon, but I prefer the taste of steak. That said the food overall is great. Crab cakes are the best I've eaten at any restaurant and their desserts are wonderful. Go to the restaurant for the ambiance and good service, but not for the steak. more

Great all around! 7/31/2002

Great food, great atmosphere and no snobby wait staff. Go to the steakhouse with the woman's name and you get small portions and disdain. more

Not my fav place to eat 7/24/2002

The service was awesome, the dessert was even better. The main entree menu left much to be desired. They need more variety... at least add chicken to the menu. Pros: great service, valet parking Cons: food variety sucked more

Angus Barn, Big Barn, Big Portions. 7/18/2002

The service at the angus barn is impeccable. Every request is fulfilled, and then some. The portions are massive, my advice, is if you haven't had anything to eat for a week, go here to make up for it. My fiance and I had a salad, and a normal entree, and still took enough home for another meal. The Angus Barn also has a great upstairs bar, perfect for lounging, and listening to great piano players, or other musicians. more

It Ain't What It Used To Be 7/15/2002

I've lived in Raleigh more years than I care to say and the ""Barn"" just isn't what she used to be. The last several times I've been there there food has been worse than disappointing. I can pay a lot less somewhere else for such bland steak. There are too many far better places to spend my dining out dollars in Raleigh to waste them at the Barn. Pros: good parking, good service Cons: bad steaks, loud, crowded more

Everything but the steaks were great 5/27/2002

I love great steakhouses and don't mind splurging for a great steak. AB had everything but: fine service, excellent wine list, great oysters, a wonderful Caesar salad. The t-bones my wife and I ordered, however, were really only OK. I go to a steakhouse, I want a cut of meat that I as a consumer can't get my hands on because all the good steakhouses have snapped them up, NOT something I could buy at the Winn Dixie and grill up at home. Also, what kind of steakhouse doesn't offer a porterhouse steak for two? It's the gold standard of steaks, IMHO--if you're going to claim to be the area's best, you really should offer a porterhouse. I prefer Vinnie's. more

Amazing Experience 5/25/2002

Angus Barn is definitely something to be experienced at least once. Excellent tradiational American food including some of the best stakes I've ever eaten. Additionally the wine list is top notch. Never have I seen such an extensive and diverse selection of fine wines. Pros: Great Wine List, Good Parking Cons: Expenisve more
