Good food, Not as good as it used to be, but still great! more

Absolutely Terrible! 4/6/2012

Went twice thinking our initial negative experience may have been a fluke (given its positive reviews). Nope, second time was far worse. Cold food, wrong orders and bad service. I've been to many chain restaurants that have surpassed this so-called ""classic"". Save your money and do NOT waste your time. more

Angus Barn, Raleigh,NC 3/17/2012

Service excellent. Wedge salad very good. However, family and I drove an hour and 45 minutes and........ When I pay the equivalent of $48 per pound for a steak, it darned well ought to be tender and flavorful. Mine was tough and tasteless. Further, you would think a place like this would cut their steak fries fresh - mine seemed like they were from a frozen bag of Ore-Idas from the store. Had food overall better at basic chain restaurants. Very disapponting to get no better than that and leave $269 lighter. more

The best in steak!!! 2/6/2012

This restaurant does it right! Service is great and the food is spectacular. We went to Ruth's Chris and the steak was actually tough! Angus Barn is my absolute favorite. I love the atmosphere as well. The ambiance is wonderful! Thanks guys......Andrea Smith more

Not as good as the hype 1/23/2012

I know it has a lengthy tradition but I've been around 10 or 12 times and have never really had an exceptional meal. The wait is always long and the service is okay. It's definetly a different atmosphere but for real steak lovers it's not nearly the best in Raleigh. The Peddler which is just down the street is much better as is Sullivan's in downtown Raleigh. more

Awesome Food and Service 8/21/2011

Wild Turkey Lounge is great! 7/10/2011

This is a great place to hang out. I love stopping by the Wild Turkey Lounge in the winter. Sit by the fire and have a drink and a great Angus Barn steak. It's cozy. more

Not worth $45 dollars, Sorry 5/8/2011

we got ripped off out of $300 plus dollars for a mothers day buffet that was very very bad. The Food was BAD, Service was fair, but not worth 18% TIP! , PRICE $45.00 each! LOLOLOLOL What a joke. Linda & Jon M Wake Forest, NC more

MOTHERS DAY BUFFET VERY BAD, for $45.00!!!!!! 5/8/2011

Angus Barn has always been a great place to dine, but as of late, the food has gone down the drain. Today, I took my family to the Mothers Day buffet. I must tell you that no steak, no ribs or even a green salad were served! The ham, green beans were sub standard, cold and all the food was tasteless. For $45 I expected a drink included in the price!! To top it off, they added a 18% TIP for the waiter who did not serve us our food!!!!!!!!!! What a wasted day, The Golden Corral would have been 100 times better at one third of the cost!!! WHAT A WASTE OF MY MONEY, POOR FOOD, But, fair service. SHAME ON YOU ANGUS FOR RIPPING US OFF of OUR HARD EARNED MONEY> I WILL NEVER NEVER DINE at this barn AGAIN..Tom Cary NC more

Excellent 4/28/2011

Best restaurant in Raleigh. Yes, pricey, but great food, great service, great ambiance more

Very expensive 4/4/2011

One of the most over-rated restaurants in Raleigh, and certainly the most expensive, Angus Barn is nothing more than a steak joint; the same kind you'd find practically anywhere in Chicago. However, the ambience (tables crammed in next to one another), the service (mediocre at best), and the menu (boring) leave one wondering why so many people crowd in every night. The reason? Raleigh doesn't really have a good steak house for competition, that's why. The Chop House has a much better menu, service, and ambience for about the same price. I'd drive the extra few miles and go there... really. Unless you like to eat butter with your butter, the Angus Barn is old fashioned cooking with plenty of fat on the side. The crowd is mostly over 50 and you sit at simple wooden tables with your back shoved right up against the table next to you. The chef is good, but the menu is nothing compared to half the steak houses in Chicago. Want a really great steak? Hop on a plane and go to Lawry's. Otherwise, drive over to the Chop House. more

Raleigh's worst customer service 1/17/2011

I am horrified at the service we received this evening. I do not know where to begin.... The waitress was extremely unpleasant. When asking for drink, dinner and dessert orders, she rushed us through, we felt we were bothering her. Questions were always answered curtly. She asked us if we wanted wine, my brother indicated he wanted water initially and would be looking through the wine list, she immediately removed all of our wine glasses from the table. 10 minutes later my brother ordered wine and with a frustrated look she returned all of our wine glasses. Who trains their waitstaff?? The individuals who ordered soup were given cold soup, the individuals who ordered salad were given the incorrect salad. When we requested the soup be re-heated she seemed irritated. I suggested we pay for our drinks and salad/soup and leave immediately, however the rest of my party was starving. When our food arrived, of course, the sides were incorrect. Half-way through our dinner, we learned there were daily specials by over-hearing the next table's waitress. I cannot repeat it enough - it was an absolutely horrible experience. more

Impeccable Service, Delectable Meals! 12/20/2010

I went to the Angus Barn to celebrate a special occasion. I was NOT disappointed. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Our waiter was attentive and helpful. And the food! The food was absolutely DIVINE. my steak nearly melted in my mouth. I almost cried when I ate the last bite because there was none left. lol more

Over Rated 12/13/2010

Is what you call high class dining? I beg to differ, the steaks are mediocre. I'll choose Brasa Brazilian Steakhouse any day and time over Angus Barn! more

yep still overrated 11/25/2010

At least for Thanksgiving buffet it's way overrated. The atmosphere we were allocated didn't begin to be worth the price-- We were seated in the Wild Turkey Lounge at a backgammon table. Nuff said. Well, not really: No tablecloth, continuous parade of other diners traipsing by with overloaded plates, table too small for plates & glasses, Barn staff heavy -footing by in a hurry. The food was okay but not worth a second trip. Ridiculously crowded. Desserts were no better than Golden Corral! Great & attentive server, though. Rather wasted on a buffet meal. more

DID ANGUS BARN PAY CITYSEARCH ? 10/31/2010

The Angus Barn is by far not the best steak in the triangle, I think people who do not eat at nice places much are impressed by the atmosphere, it seems like a fancy steak place, so how could it be bad? The service and food are mediocre at best, and I have eaten there all my life, mostly because of a work dinner or my parents want to go, but they don't eat out much either, I mean it's kind of a Raleigh Institution, it' s a familiar place. Try Capital City Chophouse, Jimmy V's in Cary, even Firebirds has a better steak, and it is Cheaper. I will give A.B. props on the wine list and dinners in the Wine Cellar, that part is great , just be prepared to dish out a lot for the wine if that is why you are going there, a thick book of different wines does you no good when you can only afford a 25 dollar bottle.Service is hit or miss, and the Turkey Lounge is a cool place to knock back a few cocktails, if you can find a seat in the crowd. However, I do not see how this place won best steak, there are too many better options these days, if this were 1988 I could see it. more
