Review content:
Cheaper than the pricier Rittenhouse Square gyms, small Sweat has pretty much all you need. Small, mood-lit, refreshingly chilled spinning room with rope lights strung around the walls. WELL-equipped weights area (the heart of the gym, with plenty of tough and buff guys bulking up) Rows of cardo machines with TVs (disconcertingly near the plate glass windows, so you feel a bit like a hamster in a wheel in a cage). Nicely proportioned studio for yoga, aerobics and other classes, with windows on 2 sides and a soothing near-the-schuykill diffuse light in the evenings.
Not pretentious. The buff-guys in the evenings gave me serious, respectful pointers despite my being a weakling. No posing or flirting. Just comortable...
Owner Scott Capan is a nice guy. He has one other gym farther out of town and a bowling alley.
