OPERA HOUSE IS MAGNIFICENT 6/30/2005

We visited the Kennedy Center for the Phantom of the Opera, held in the Kennedy Center's Opera House, and it was a magnificent and memorable experience. The opera house is a beautiful structure with seating that allows you to feel a part of the show even from the nose-bleed seats. From the front row, you can actually see the tear-drops from the performers' faces during tragic scenes. The Kennedy Center overlooks the beautiful Potomac River and has a large balcony that is often open for audience members to catch a breath of fresh air. There are also free performances daily in their Millennium Theater. We caught one during the spring for the Cherry Blossom Festival with traditional Japanese drummers. One word of advice, arrive early! I had to stand on my tip-toes to see anything, but it was so good I couldn't make myself leave. more
