My husband and I recently attended classes at GTCC for contracting. We wanted to learn more about the field and maybe even take the test and become contractors. We signed up in the office and bought about a hundred dollars worth of books each. It was fast and easy and pretty self explanatory. We enjoyed the class, as it was 3 hours long only 1 day a week. The teacher was a really knowledgable guy with a lot to tell us. We made great contacts, and would definitely take another class there. If you look in the course catalog you will see classes from cooking for beginners, to real estate, to health and fitness. You really cannot go wrong.

Grimsley High School was Greensboro's first institution of its kind. This high school opens its doors every year to about two thousand young people from near and far. The institution prides itself in athletic and scholastic achievements as well as with its national ranking for Advanced Placement testing. The attractions to Grimsley High School include a fantastic drama department, a world traveling choral department, a strong athletic department and various academic teams such as the High IQ Bowl and Science Olympiad. The tradition of success at this school is sure to last at least another century.

If you’re looking for something fun and different to do with the kids this is the place to go. We had a blast with our three-year-old son and two nieces. They have some arcade games if the kids get tired of bowling. If you have younger children with you remember to request a lane with bumper pads. It makes it a lot more fun for the kids when the balls aren’t always going in the gutter. This bowling alley was very clean and a real winner for us was that no one was smoking in there when we visited.

I am very happy with Lawndale Baptist Children's learning center. They have qualified teachers in each room with an assistant. The use lesson plans which really help with keeping the parents informed. The schedule is drawn up by the teachers but approved by the director. They have outside play everyday assuming weather permits, the rates are very reasonable and the registration fee is lower than anyone else in town (or at least the ones I called) Its worth checking into if your looking for a preschool

Caldwell Academy is a classical, Christian school. They provide a solid classical program, turning out well educated students year after year. They are also solidly Christian., though they are not affiliated with any particular church or any certain denomination. As far as private schools go, Caldwell Academy is a fabulous value - it is one of the lowest priced private schools in the area, but in this case, you get far more than what you pay for. A growing sports program (some of the teams have won state championships!), solid, rigorous academics, an environment of teamwork between staff, parents and students, community, and THE most beautiful school campus around!

I would have to say this is one of the largest Public Libraries I have been in and the best I have been in, in Greensboro. Its very rare that when you go here you don’t find what your looking for. The other great thing about this location is that it puts on special events such as children’s music/TV groups along with story time etc. This location is located directly across the street from the Children’s Museum so if you have some free time check them both out one day. Don’t forget the importance of reading to your children. Visit your local Library.

If you have children and your relocating to Greensboro or just moving from one end of town to the other this is the school you want them in. The school is very clean, bright and has some of the best teachers. They offer a great after school program called Aces for working parents. It keeps your children at the school instead of shipping them out to a daycare. The cost is very reasonable. In my opinion they have one of the largest PAC groups around. They stay very involved in whats happening around Jesse Wharton. This school is very highly rated not only by the parents but also by the county.

When it comes to entertaining children for a birthday party, I think The Little Gym does an ok job for 3 yr olds and older. However, my experience with them was when my son was under 1. I was taking a mommies class at Women's Hospital and staff from The Little Gym had been invited to our class to discuss gross motor activities to do with our children (all who were under 1 yr of age). The activities they demonstrated for us (and had us participate in doing) were completely INAPPROPRIATE for the age of our children. (This is a FACT: I shared the activities with a PHYSICAL THERAPIST and she was appalled that Little Gym was promoting these activities as good for children under 1.) One would think that people IN the business of 'exercising' our children would KNOW what is appropriate and not appropriate for a variety of age ranges. Very disappointed. I have never signed up for a class. I never will. And I will never recommend anyone with young young children use The Little Gym

Cone Hospital has not always had a monopoly on the Greensboro Hospital market. Over the last 15 to 20 years, they have either driven the competition out of town, or bought them! Cone Hospital does a good job of providing adequate health care for Greensboro. They could use more pediatric specialists so that parents would not have to drive to Winston-Salem, Chapel Hill, or Duke.

Leon's is a beauty school, but at that school they need people to test out their technique on....so they give haircuts. I have never had more than a trim done there myself, a lot of my male friends swore by leons. You could get super cheap haicuts, quality haircuts...done by soon to be pretty expensive sylists. Its a great place to go when you want a cutting edge cut, and are working on a budget.
