I have tried buying fresh shellfish (clams and oysters) from other seafood stores, but none of them can beat Tamashiro Market’s. At other stores, the clams and oysters are packaged and placed in the refrigerator; many of them are already open and dying. At Tamashiro’s, they are dumped into ice and you can hand pick each clam or oyster own your own. Look for the ones that are closed tightly.
